500 Days of Summer HBO Max

What to Watch

The season of break-ups is unfortunately upon us, but what better way to mope around and cure that shattered heart than to watch a classic break-up film? For 500 Days of Summer’s Tom Hansen (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), heartbreak is consuming his life. But as soon as Tom lays eyes on Summer (Zooey Deschanel), it’s love at first sight — at least for him. Though Summer doesn’t fancy the idea of relationships, Tom and Summer’s blossoms into what seems like an everlasting love until she wrecks his fairy tale universe, breaking up with him. For 500 days of love and in pain, Tom tries to analyze where things went wrong. Will he be able to persuade Summer they’re soulmates, or will he finally realize that you can’t force anyone to love you? 500 Days of Summer is a one of a kind film that will for sure pull on your heartstrings.

By Claire Waheed

If you’re as obsessed with Mia Goth as I am after watching Pearl, stream one of her more lighthearted movies, Emma. This romantic adaptation of Jane Austen’s novel also stars Anya Taylor Joy as leading lady. The period piece follows Emma as she attempts to play matchmaker for the people around her, including new friend Harriet (Goth), while... Read more

‘Andor’

By Brett White

In case you somehow haven't heard yet, Andor is unlike any other Star War show on Disney+. First and foremost, the show is a straight-up politically-tinged spy thriller. It's going places that Star Wars rarely goes without hesitation. This is a tense time for the galaxy, and Andor's making it an intense watch for us at home. This week's episode... Read more

‘The Munsters’ (2022)

By Mark Graham

Listen, you're not alone. I, too, rolled my eyes and texted all my friends when I saw the first trailer for Rob Zombie's The Munsters, his hyper-surreal, Day-Glo saturated spin on the cult sitcom fave from the '60s. The visuals felt garish, the tone hopelessly vaudevillian. But what if those qualities were a feature, not a bug? Maybe it was the... Read more

‘The Good Doctor’

By Amelia Brennan

With season 6 of The Good Doctor premiering October 3rd, now is a great time to rewatch (or start watching!) some of the earlier episodes in preparation. For those who don't know, the show follows the life of Shaun Murphy, an up and coming autistic surgeon with Savant Syndrome after relocating from his quiet country hometown to the surgical unit... ‘Confess, Fletch’

By Josh Sorokach

If you're a fan of Chevy Chase's classic 1985 comedy Fletch, you're going to love Greg Mottola's Confess, Fletch. In a bit of pitch-perfect casting, Jon Hamm portrays irreverent investigative reporter Irwin "Fletch" Fletcher and instantly imbues the iconic character with an easy-going charisma. The new film follows Fletch as he becomes the prime... Read more

Have you ever watched a Liam Neeson movie and thought, "This is fun, but it'd be even more fun with seven-time Emmy-winner Allison Janney in the lead role"? Well, after you watch Lou on Netflix, you won't be able to stop thinking that. Janney is in full-on Taken mode in this new action thriller, in which she stars as an ex-CIA agent who must help... Is 500 Days of Summer realistic?

Among many, many multitudes of reasons, my main reason for enjoying 500 days of summer so much is for its realistic, gritty and very honest portrayal of love. It looks at love and relationship in a very honest way which is hard to find in cinematic presentations and representations.

Summer and Tom go see The Graduate, she cries at the end, which leaves Tom a bit puzzled. They go a record store and Summer seems distracted and completely uninterested.
