  • The main character Jackson Maine is an alcoholic and a drug addict. He is shown smoking marijuana a few times and is also shown crushing and snorting pills. He also does a little bit of steroids. He then has a big meltdown at an awards show which forces him to go to rehab. He eventually rehabilitates but he then slips into drinking again. This eventually leads to him committing suicide.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • One of the main characters takes their own life (which occurs off-screen) and you see the effects leading up to and after this.
  • Jackson's death may be triggering to those who have lost a loved one to suicide or suffer from depression.

Is A Star is Born family friendly?

A Star is Born is an appropriate movie for SOME kids, but certainly not all of them. The MPAA's R-rating is due to “language throughout, some sexuality/nudity and substance abuse.” Yes, you will hear plenty of salty words and there's no shortage of F-bombs.
