Q: What stats are best for Red Mage Ffxiv?

Red Mages dont get too fancy with stat priorities. They are generally: Critical Hit > Direct Hit Rate > Determination > Spell Speed.

Sorry for the newb question, but what food should I use as rdm? I do dabble in savage and ex trials.

Herring pie has the most max crit but almost useless SS. of course ovim meatballs have dh and det(but no crit) and highland cabbage has det as the major boost and a smaller boost to crit.

On a related note, I submitted a guide request on the balance discord; The request looked like it "registered"(the counter going up) but no guide appeared. Advice?

As an end game crafter and BRD main there is no combat food I really like.

That said Ovim meatballs are about the best of a bad lot.

If you are still having an issue with the balance ask the moderators on there. They usually help people out in a few minutes. Stuffed highland cabbage is best for red mage, basically things that prioritize crit, dh, det are best for rdm.

Food tends to have three stats. Major, VIT, minor. In each tier VIT is the same.

I want a food that majors in crit and minors in DH.

Ovim Meatballs
Direct Hit Rate +8% (Cap: +134) HQ+10% / Cap: +168
Vitality +8% (Cap: +172) HQ+10% / Cap: +215
Determination +8% (Cap: +81) HQ+10% / Cap: +101

Stuffed Highland Cabbage
Determination +8% (Cap: +134) HQ+10% / Cap: +168
Vitality +8% (Cap: +172) HQ+10% / Cap: +215
Critical Hit +8% (Cap: +81) HQ+10% / Cap: +101

Both Sausage & sauerkraut and Herring pie major in crit but they minor in skill and spell speed.

5. Coconut Cod Chowder (iLevel 545)

A Near Eastern soup, brimming with shallows cod simmered in silky coconut milk.

Coconut Cod Chowder is a must-have in your inventory. You are not concerned too much with your GCD as a Red Mage. You must improve your damage; therefore, this is the kind of food you need. Since this is cheap and if you are getting into old contents, you can waste this one! Go to your nearest Market Board to buy the food or by crafting!

The NQ status effects:

Determination +8% (Max 61)
Vitality +8% (Max 66)
Critical Hit +8% (Max 37)

The HQ status effects:

Determination +10% (Max 76)
Vitality +10% (Max 82)
Critical Hit +10% (Max 46)

4. Pumpkin Potage (iLevel 580)

A creamy soup that highlights the rich and nutty flavor of the giant pumpkin.

Just like Coconut Cod Chowder, Pumpkin Potage gives you the exact status but is higher in number. This food is suitable for 6.0 contents. Get it quick from the Market Board or get the ingredients and cook with your Culinarian!

Melon Pie is a replacement if you cannot get Carrot Pudding because either it is out of Stock or too expensive. The statuses will give you overall higher damage. You can bake with a Culinarian or get it from the nearest Market Board!

What materia should Red Mage use?
