Bfgoodrich - g-force comp-2 a/s plus reddit

I put BFG's brand new UHP all-season tires on my car several hundred miles ago, and thought I'd give an update on my thoughts. --TL:DR, I bought 245/40s, Lots of wet grip, some noise, possibly worse mpg.-- They grip reasonably well in the dry, excellent for an all-season tire. In the wet they are exceptional. If they do lose traction in a hard corner they are very predictable and allow you to slide confidently. I can hit a hard 1-2 shift on a damp road without making the traction control mad. My car is stock, performance-wise so take that for what you will. They are considerably quieter than the Sumitomo summer tires I took off the car, but not as quiet as Bridgestone all-seasons I've had before. Most of the noise is a low growl on rough surfaces. My gas milage is averaging a little bit lower since I changed tires, 1 or 2 on average. Because the change is relatively small, this could be due to a combination of factors. My guess is it is a mix of going up to a 245 section, driving somewhat more aggressively to feel out the tire performance, and maybe gas (not sure if the SE really gets winter gas). Thanks for reading.

First hand experience with both?

Both are a bit cheaper than Michelin pilot sport AS4. Not interested in dedicated winter wheels.

I have the BFG. I have not used them in wet weather yet since I got them in Spring. I did have the previous generation on my BRZ. I was very impressed.

I had conti prior for about 60k and now run the AS4 since Costco had a deal. I enjoy the conti since I go snowboarding regularly, but no experience with the BFG.

Was the AS4 still more? Is the drive feel substantial and worth the price difference? Wasn't sure it's worth it for an all season tire and with no track plans.

On DWS06+ here. Comfortable, quiet. Solid dry handling and wet. Really bought them as a middle point for winter but basing off of what I’ve driven in the past(ADVAN all seasons, all season 3s) they’re just as good

They'd be fine. They're not going to turn the car into a sports car but they won't necessarily make it ride much worse either.

I personally wouldn't run a 205/50/16 on a stock 16x6 wheel. A tire that wide on a wheel that narrow is something that has never seemed desirable to me.

Also MPG will likely be worse between the slightly sportier tire and the added width.

(If you have wider than OEM wheels or just don't care about that, feel free to ignore)

I'm getting ready to purchase my 3rd set of tires. Having run stock and just finished shredding through the BFG G-Force Comp-2 All Seasons, I'm interested in personal opinions between people who have run the the BFG G-Force Comp-2's and switched to the PSS.

My biggest reservation in getting the PSS tires (since they seem to be the most highly recommended tires for the 86) is potentially needing to run a set of Summers and Winter tires. This is my Daily Driver and snow sometimes happens in my area. I work a flexible job and can leave work when it starts snowing and continue from home. Which I did while on the All Seasons. Obviously, running summers in the winter isn't great (and possibly bad for the rubber being run at winter temperatures?). So buying a set of wheels and winter tires for the 3-4 months of the year which could have snow seems like a waste.

FWIW, I couldn't tell a difference in rubber quality between the BFGs and the stock tires. Maybe I'm not driving aggressively enough to notice. I don't track my car, I just enjoy on/off ramps. :)

Ultimately this is a cost saving issue. If I had enough money (right now) to splurge on 2 sets of tires this year I would get PSS and winter tires when it's time.

TL;DR: Are the PSS so amazing that it's worth buying now and spending more money in a few months and swapping out to winter tires? Or should I stick with an All Season which has gotten me through a bit of light snow in the past and has generally been "just fine".

I have both of these tires on vastly different cars in my fleet.

2015 Camaro SS 1LE - G force comp-2 a/s 285/35/20. Based purely on the car and that these are an all season tire, I would not have chosen these for this car. However they were on it when I bought it, and honestly I am pleasantly surprised at how well they perform. I've driven in heavy rain with no issues. I can take on/off ramps spiritedly. They ride smooth and are wearing evenly (15k miles logged) considering I have not rotated them (square tires sizes on staggered wheel sizes, thanks GM). I will consider them again when it's time for tires on this car.

2004 Grand Prix - Advantage t/a sport 225/60/16. I've had these installed for roughly 2 months and 2500 miles. They ride smooth and seem responsive for a 60 series tire. They are sure-footed on wet roads with no issues accelerating or braking. We haven't had any appreciable snow since they've been installed, but they did well in the short lived 1-2" we've had. As with any non studded tire, don't expect anything on ice. They make a little road noise, but consider the vehicle I have them on vs your car - I'm sure yours is much quieter inside. At this point I would buy them again but only time will tell if they hold their value over their lifespan.

In my opinion you won't go wrong with either tire as long as you understand that a/s tires are designed to be outstanding at nothing, and ok at everything. They are better than knock-off brands in the same price category.
