Cons: "So, this plane was a Virgin America aircraft taken over by Alaska since the merger. My fiance and I were on a red eye non-stop to Philly from LAX. That said, the plane was in terrible condition. The seat back in front of my seat was broken and hanging down on my knees, there was no opportunity for entertainment unless you brought your own plug in headphones (none on the plane to use or purchase), we purchased upgraded seats and when we checked in the night before were told they were not available and we would be in economy (still waiting for that $200 refund 7 days later), the arm rest between our seats was broken and would not stay up, the headrest of my seat was broken and there was exposed metal, and when we purchased champagne to celebrate our vacation it was warm. One other item I noticed was the woman across the aisle's seat would not sit upright. She was asked to move to another seat for both take off and landing. Not sure if this was a Virgin America crew of Alaska, but terribly disappointed iin the crews lack of care and would not fly them again across country if this is what is to be expected."

That same flight attendant was sitting in a first class seat scrolling through her phone again, she did look up to thank us though. Then the front desk staff could only help to switch to row 12 and row 13. We’re still not together. That’s horrible. Then when we got on the plane, I asked people around if they don’t mind to switch their seats, but still not working well. The flight attendants didn’t help at all. Just saying, “this is the best we can do.” What did they do? They didn’t even help me to work it out. Then one of the front desk staff came onto the plane and help me out. My son and I finally sit together. But the overall experience sucks! Alaska Airlines needs to train their crew to have more emphatic to the passengers."

Cons: "We arrived at the airport 5 minutes (NO more than that) after the one hour check in time to fly international going to Mexico. We were told we had to wait in line to speak with someone to print a boarding pass. There was an extremely long line with only two employees helping. We then asked if we could get our money back being that if someone has specially helped us with our case only being 5 minutes late to check in, but they declined. We had to book an entirely different flight and still have not gotten our money back. It was very stressful and unprofessional and had someone actually helped us, we would’ve arrived at our destination at the proper time we worked so hard for. I know my boyfriend and I weren’t the only people with his problem because two other families ran into the exact same avoidable problem. It felt very unprofessional. It ruined a familys vacation and caused the poor children to cry because of the lack of accommodation. We would love our money back but not sure you guys will even do so. Very disappointing."

Cons: "I didn't make it because the flight to LAX was late and despite being told by an Avianca employee there was a later flight from LAX to PDX (at 11:45 on AlaskaAir) which I would be put on, once I arrived I was told I was on a 6 AM on Delta with no arrangement to get me a hotel or anything. I bought a separate ticket on that 11:45 flight on Alaska Air to PDX instead. Extremely unhappy with this service and will never again use it. I will also tell everyone in my social circles, in person and online, to stop using it."

Pros: "Flying Alaska airlines is always something I have a bittersweet relationship. I love almost everything that Alaska does to improve their airline. Their wifi is some of the best in the US and its very affordable. Their "picnic box" snacks are awesome and unique, better than what you will find elsewhere, they have USB and full AC outlets at every seat, and their rewards program is the best in the business. By all accounts, AlaskaAir would be my favorite airline out there. But the staff that Alaska hires is just so terrible. Everytime I fly with them, they have simply the worst staff. Pair this with some of the best features of any airline and it leaves me scratching my head on whether or not I want to fly with them or to fly with an airline like Delta which might have fewer frills, but offers much better staff to help you."

Suffice it to say, we made it and that is never a small accomplishment for which I am always genuinely grateful and appreciative to the pilots, the crew, the engineers and builders of these large metal tubes with wings that continually and mostly consistently manage to defy the laws of gravity by propelling groups of human beings across large stretches of land and over water. Why wouldn't I be happy?"

And though I know they were trying to get it fixed, surely there was a faster way to let us get off the plane other than theough the mechanical terminal. What would they do if there was an emergency?"

Pros: "Alaska Airlines continues to do it rite! To my surprise, while checking in my 60 lb bag of surfboards, I was only charged $25, not the already low price of $75 I am usually charged. This new discounted price enabled me to save $100 round trip on board charges. Unlike other airlines that charge $100 Per surfboard, Alaska Airlines has implemented a program that serves the sports enthusiasts. From surfers, golfers, hunters, fisherman, and so on. Our gear goes with us for a fantastic price. Also, the food is actually pretty tasty too & the flight attendants treat you well."

Pros: "This was my first flight, and everything went off uneventfully. Thank goodness. The staff was friendly and helpful. The boarding process was smooth, and the seats in coach were comfortable for my XXXL behind! Very enjoyable, bucket list experience."

Cons: "Apparent aggressiveness to get as many carry on bags paid for by the ground staff measuring with a measuring tape all bags. I've never seen anything like it. My bag was fine. Then, when they started to take fees you had to come back and pay. It wasn't done right then. The ground staff was minimally helpful. Flight amenities or not, pay for headset and having more than 2 TV shows and 2 movies cost you an up charge even on an overseas flight. One choice for dinner.- pasta so it was vegetarian. Breakfast was a sad roll, one small piece of cheese and ham, and fruit that was that questionable. Overnight flight, pillow no blanket in Economy. Seats hard and leg room was tight. Their Economy plus and business looked a much better way to go."

Pros: "This was our first time using Alaska Airlines and they were great! Checking in online was easy. Flight attendants and other staff were friendly and seemed to have your best interest in mind. My husband and I had a 20 hour layover in LA coming back from Costa Rica and we asked if we would have to pay another fee to recheck our bag for the second flight. They were very understanding and waived the fee since our overnight stay in LA was technically a layover and we had previously made the whole reservation for both flights at once using their company. Overall we liked our experience with Alaska and would definitely use them again!"

By far, the best airline ive flown upon was alaska. customer service was so friendly from start to finish, the employee who checked in our luggage (who was incredibly professional with an very frustrated guest behind me in line, while managing to not alienate my wife and i), ro the flight attendants who were prompt, responsive, and efficient in hydrating the passengers. My wife is uncomfortable with flying, and their demeanor with every aspect of their work made her feel safer and, at least, a little bit more relaxed. Thank you."

Cons: "The boarding process was very sloppy. The boarding person made very little to no announcements regarding boarding procedures. He then made everyone who had lined up in general boarding line exit the line and then finally turned on the sign that said preferred boarding. Then the same thing happened again. He could have saved all of us and including himself lots of frustration if he had just made an announcement regarding the boarding process with directions when he was about to start boarding. Everyone was left without clear directions. Big let down to start my experience with Alaskan airlines."

Maybe not treat the passengers like cattle.

Even though flight attendants announced they would make people wear their masks properly, they didn’t. The woman sitting next to me and my child had her mask down or off for most of the flight, and she coughed and sneezed.

Onboard crew was great but I wasn’t informed until boarding that I wasn’t allowed a carry on bag at which time they were going to charge me $65 for I explained to them that I had just got off my connection flight and was never informed I had to check my carry on at which time they brought the charge down to $35. I love JetBlue but was very disappointed I was charged and forced to check my small carry on bag with out being informed I had to before hand.

Almost 2.5 hour delay.

We couldn’t check-in online. Even though it was booked through American Airlines, none of my AA benefits carried over. The Wi-Fi and entertainment didn’t work the entire flight. The flight crew said something about a voucher but I didn’t hear anything else about it.

Annoying that every short flight is delayed over 40 minutes consistently . Why am i taking a 1 hour flight when it becomes two hours plus airport and uber time? Maybe we should all just drive??

Cons: "The fact that I was 3 minutes late to check my bag (due to a line and walking to the wrong counter the first time) and they would not allow me to go on my original flight and route my bag on another flight. This resulted in me and my bag getting pushed on two new flights and my overall travel time going from 4.5 hrs to 11 hrs which with a 15 month old is an eternity. Many other airlines will allow you to make exceptions when checking in late (I was still nearly 40 minutes prior to flight departure) and let me still check a bag OR allow me and my baby to stay on the same flight without the bag."

They had passengers distanced from each other the whole time, handed out sanitizing wipes as we walked on the plane, made sure folks kept their masks on, gave us individual little baggies with snacks and water bottles that also had individual hand sanitizer packets. I felt so much more safe flying Delta on my way home to Hawaii in July than I did when I flew American Airlines on my way to the mainland in June."

To go to Australia, Denver TSA waived the removal of shoes, skipped the scan for the metal detector and no one touched me, ditto for LAX on the trip to Sydney. Where's the uniformity or standards for TSA?? Why did I have to be subjected to this garbage on the way home?? This is why I despise flying. It makes no sense to me. This ruined what was a great vacation."

I travel a lot and with many other flights internationally and I can tag my bags with different airlines all the way through, but NOT WITH VIRGIN WITH THE SAME AIRLINE ALL THE WAY THROUGH? They can't do it? Then 2 hour delay on the tarmac after taxiing out from the gate at LAX, which got us in late to Brisbane. The food on this leg LAX-BNE for the vegetarian option was terrible, which was strange as on the fist flight over from BNE-LAX it was the best vegetarian food on any flight I've ever had. Strangely 6 months out from our flight I tried calling Delta to upgrade our tickets and was told they had no way of doing it as the Delta computer system isn't linked Virgin system. Then calling Virgin to upgrade I was told I can't as it is a Delta ticker. We tried again a week out from the flight and got the same response and told to try at check-in. We tried then at check in and told they have no idea how to do this as only so many seats are allocated to Delta tickets and they can't access the Delta system?? So very frustrating and we could never upgrade?"

After 5 mins, I pushed the service button and nobody responded. After half hour, I ordered the food from another crew passed by. After I landed, they suppose to return my stroller set at the airplane gate. But they said it is not there, ask us to wait at the airport gate. We walked outside and they broadcasted again, I didn't hear very clearly but followed most parents to walk out. We wait at the baggage claim for almost 1 hour and finally, the baggage crew came back to the gate and found our stroller."

Therefore your plane is not up to par. But I paid up to $700! Never again. Good luck United."

Sounded as if they were saying it's the passengers fault. We are allowed 1 carryon and 1 personal bag. For any flight that is longer than 3 hours, I believe the airlines should at least allow passengers to have 1 free check in. Then maybe we wouldn't be trying to carry everything on with us. Our flight to Hawaii wasn't very comfortable either. We had purchased economy plus but it didn't seem all that comfortable. Maybe because it was a smaller plane. I think it was a 737, not really sure but it had 3 seats on each side with no middle row. Food is for purchase! Outrageous."

Mushrooms all mixed in with the seafood, so I had to pick them all out. Also 2 of the accompanying sides had mushrooms. Do they have a mushroom fetish like Cheesecake Factory? Need more consideration for people who may have varying food requirements that are unavailable to address during the booking process. I know you can't please everyone, but why overuse an ingredient that has a relatively low appeal to potential passengers? Will try again, just hope they can use similar customer service in their food preparation as they have otherwise."

Ten other passengers missed the flight! A travesty! Worse, with "no hotels available", I was rerouted to Chicago for a flight via Tokyo at 1300 the following day! In short, a 30-hour trip became 48 hours of hell and of course an 18-hour delaed arrival in Singapore. But there was more: my luggage was "lost" and thus arrived two days late!!!!! The only saving grace: friendly and helpful UA staff in San Francisco and especially in Chicago. Wow! I deserve some compensaton, wouldn't you all agree?"

After no indication about any extra costs but only the inability to check in… At the airport I was warned by one of the agents when she told me that my basic economy ticket would not allow me to bring my computer back on the plane without being charged. I've never experienced this in my life. I said I'm not paying and I went through TSA and I boarded without any problem. United has just been axed off of my list of Airlines with which I will travel. Come to think of it the only other airline that I can choose not to travel on his Spirit so United has reached new lows!"

Cons: "I had a seat that had a monitor that was steaming code in front of me for 6 hours. It couldn't even be turned off. The only thing the crew offered was a piece of cardboard to cover it up. "If you download the United app you can pay to stream movies." I hate United and I don't use that word often. I would much rather give praises than complaints. Pay extra for food, entertainment, emergency isle seats... not that the tickets didn't already cost me a fortune. Crew even gave me grief about hanging up my suit!?! I flew to Thailand recently for less than flying to Texas, and everything was included, comfortable, and FRIENDLY. NOT UNITED."

Cons: "Was flying from LA and the plane got to the Denver airport on time but had to wait 20 mins on the track for a diff plane to leave so our plane had a place to pull up. This made me only have 15 mins to board my connecting flight to Minneapolis. After I rushed to the gate, United told me that they had a smaller plane so 28 people had to take a different flight. How does that happen? The $500 voucher they gave me did not make up for the time I had to fly to Chicago to make another connecting flight to get to Minneapolis. This was my second flight in one weekend as I was flying for an emergency. Both times United switched its gates for the flights last minute so I was scrambling to get to where I needed to go. Never again."

I then called the guy that scanned my bags back over to ask why I was still standing there while my next flight was about to board and he told me I'd been rebooked!! I didn't want to wait for the next flight so then had to sprint, with my bags, from terminal 2 to 7 (which if you've ever walked through LAX you'd understand how unpleasant that was alone). I did make the flight, but just, thanks only to the girls at the checkout counter who were actually willing to help me, although not eager to."

Perhaps United could acknowledge the priority conflict of causing overnight delays and offer a flight voucher..."

The two hour delay caused almost half the plane to miss their connecting flights, myself included, and now my carry-on bag with my phone charger, clothes, toothbrush, Cologne, and basically everything I needed, was on its way to my final destination while I was not. The airline gave me vouchers for a hotel and two meals, $10 each, and a plane ticket that I couldn't use cause I had important appointments and meetings to be at, so I had to spend $177 to get a one-way car rental back home."

When she came back around for drinks, I asked for 2 drinks (1 for me, and one for my husband still sleeping, in case he woke up), to which she responded, "I just won't open it then." She gave me just the can of soda, - no cup, no ice. So when my husband did wake up, he just drank it from the can. Oh, and it's a good thing my husband was sleeping for a portion of the flight because his monitor wasn't working."

Cons: "have been stranded by Air Canada in Toronto en route to Tel Aviv for what will be at least two nights. Let me preface this by saying that I travel regularly and have never experienced anything like what has transpired over the last 36+ hours. I've been unable to get to my work and unable to return home to my two young children, stuck in international limbo. The thing that really galls about my whole experience, though, has been that the actions as well as tenor of the interactions with almost every single Air Canada customer service representative has been deplorable. No one has even apologized for the inconvenience, let alone taken ownership of the situation to fix it. My experience as a customer has been reprehensible. I was scheduled to travel from Los Angeles to Tel Aviv through Chicago and then Toronto. The problems started in Chicago. My layover in Toronto was scheduled to be brief and I became concerned when the flight in Chicago did not board on time and no information was given. Some time later (maybe 20 minutes, although, to be honest, I was not concerned enough at that point to be checking) we were told there were maintenance problems. I immediately went to the counter and asked about other possible routes to Tel Aviv as it was clear that I would not make my connection. While missed connections happen all the time in travel, I have never encountered airline personnel who were so disinterested in helping. My immediate stop was the Air Canada service desk. The man there started to look for solutions and then passed it off to someone else as he got frustrated that it was not a simple route. She in turn asked if I could find someone else to help. But this was the service desk! So she begrudgingly went back to it. She put me to the side to help other passengers and told me to go get food and not to hover. I stood to the side and checked back and she had not come back to the task. Neither had the man I first worked with. By this point well over an hour had elapsed and they conceded to help as another family in the same position came up and also asked for assistance. They began trying to reroute us and then the flight cleared and we were able to board. We did not want to but they told us that there would be someone waiting at the jet bridge to expedite the connection to Tel Aviv and that we had made it just in time. We did not trust him and said so and he assured us that they would hold the plane for our flight. This did not happen. The Air Canada agent flatly lied to us. There was no one waiting to help get us to the gate. They did not hold the plane. I ran through the Toronto airport at sprint speed and left the other family to try to hold the plane for us all. They had already given away my seat despite my having checked in, paid for an extra legroom exit seat, and begun travel on the original itinerary. Thus did I miss the flight to Tel Aviv."

Be on time

It's a budget airfare for a reason. Don't expect much and hope you get to your destination and home on time and in one piece.

Departure Flight time kept changing. The only non-stop flight was at 8:45 pm. They need to provide at least one option of an earlier non-stop departure time for people that work the following day.

She weighed and re weighed our bags until we had the cheapest option. We ended up having to pay for 1bag upgrade (2-55lbs) that was 75$ Then the flight it’s self the flight attendants were every nice and tried to wander any questions I had. Chips were stale. Comfort of the flight was no worse than any other flight I’ve been on."

I originally wanted 3-55lb bags but bought 5-33lb bags when I enquirer about upgrading to 3-55lb bags they ended up miss understanding my wishes and took away 2bags and I still only had 33lbs per bag... by then it was to close to the date we were leaving so they couldn’t fix it and I was told I wasn’t going to get a refund... and that I would have to buy my baggage upgrade at the airport. I could try but it wasn’t likely."

Cons: "Due to heavy traffic we arrived 35 minutes prior to our departure and were not allowed to board the flight. The website clearly states that they reserve that right within 30 minutes. Their website also did not allow us to check-in online which would have also saved time. They simply told us no and said it was a lost ticket. When I questioned a credit, refund or an additional flight they said no and offered no assistance. Finally, they called security when I asked to speak to someone else."

Cons: "This was one of the worst overall flying experiences I’ve ever had. The flight was from Mexico City to Cabo, and i was supposed to take the flight with two friends. We were all later than we wanted to be due to the México City traffic. I arrived one hour before the flight and they arrived exactly 34 minutes before. I remember because we tracked it exactly on our phones as it was happening. When they got to the check in booth the attendant said they were too late to check in and they had to have gotten there 35 minutes before. I have checked the airline online policies and nowhere does it say that. It only says that they can refuse checkin after 30 minutes but I am positive they arrived before that. I will mention here that the plane was about 15 minutes late taking off. So, the airline enforced strict made up policies on its paying passengers and doesn’t uphold any sense of respect to them? The attendant also told my friends they would not get refunded and that the next flight wasn’t until the next night. We are going to Cabo for the weekend so obviously that was out of the question. So, I board the plane and realize why the attendant must have told my friends the plane was closed. There were no empty seats on the plane, which means that they must have given away seats to people on standby. I support this if its a last minute decision after the flight has closed AS IT IS ADVERTISED. Not a made up 5 minutes before. So I boarded and there was absolutely no service. None. The flight attendants came out once and made you pay for WATER. What kind of airline doesn’t at least give water??? I understand the appeal of budget airlines but honestly, this flight was over $200 which is not what I would call “budget” and the airline skimped on the most basic things— water, customer service, and any semblance of human decency. I am thoroughly disgusted with how horrible this airline has been for even a 1.5 hour flight and i plan to not only write as many horrible reviews as I can but to share this terrible experience with as many people as I can so they can avoid being victims to such inhuman treatment. Viva Aerobús should be ashamed to call themselves an airline and Kayak should be ashamed to allow them on their site."
