Can you see your TikTok reposts?

TikTok introduced a new ‘repost’ feature for the app that lets people share their favorite videos with their followers. There are some caveats to using it so here’s all you need to know about TikTok’s repost.

Videos on the popular app are configured to be the most shared type of content on the internet. Clips can range from just a few seconds right up to 10 minutes, but all can spread like wildfire with TikTok’s algorithm.

Now the app-makers are giving people a much easier way to share someone else’s video without having to duet or ripping the clip yourself.

TikTok users are going to have a simplified way to share the best videos on the platform, and here’s how to get started.

What is TikTok’s repost feature?

TikTokTikTok users missing the ‘Repost’ button might have to wait until the feature rolls out to more people.

Simply put, TikTok’s repost feature is a quick and painless way to share any video you find with all of your followers.

Similar to other social media sites, instead of claiming ownership of the content by publishing it on your account, you’re simply relaying it to your followers through your account.

Reposting will still show the original owner of the TikTok, but it will be available to your followers on your page.

Did TikTok remove the repost button?

In May, many users began to report that they no longer had access to the repost button on TikTok, and that it had disappeared from the app altogether. Some were dismayed to see the feature go, as it had proven to be relatively popular with many users.

But is the feature gone for good?

Is it just me or is the TikTok repost button disappeared?????

When TikTok initially started introducing the feature at the end of 2021 and the start of 2022, it appeared to only be in a testing period originally. This may explain the reports that the feature is disappearing from the app, however, TikTok has not officially confirmed this.

Whether it makes a full comeback or not remains to be seen, but it seems like there’s a significant portion of the userbase that would like to see the relatively new feature return to the app.

Within the last couple of months, TikTok has implemented a new 'Repost' feature. Currently, the algorithm on TikTok shows users videos based on individual interests and is constantly being adjusted each time a user scrolls through their 'For You Page.' Many factors contribute to the TikTok algorithm, such as user activity, subject, sounds, and location. For example, each video a user likes, comments, shares, or interacts with dictates what will be on their For You Page. For this reason, TikTok is popular with users because the experience is personalized.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

The idea of reposting on TikTok is similar to some features seen on other social media. For example, Twitter has allowed users to 'retweet' other users' content since 2009, a popular form of engagement on the app. Facebook also allows users to share other accounts' posts to their timelines for their friends to see. Even Instagram has a feature that enables other users' posts to be shared on their own stories. But, of course, nearly every form of social media has a repost or reshare option, so it's no surprise TikTok followed suit.

When users decide to repost a TikTok, the video from their own For You Page now appears on the pages of their followers. Only friends of the user can see the reposted video, which only includes accounts that the user follows that also follow them back. Recently users could only repost videos on a user's For You Page, but now they can share any video on TikTok with friends. Whether a video is so funny, it has to be shared, or its information users think their friends should hear, it will put the video on their friends' pages for them to see.

To repost: click on any video, tap the share icon at the bottom right of the screen and select the yellow button with white arrows that says 'Repost.' Selecting this button will repost the video. The repost will not appear in the user's feed but can only be seen by friends. Like other social media accounts, the content is not credited to the user reposting but to the original content creator and is simply being relayed through the user.

It's pretty simple to repost a video, and it has already changed how users interact on TikTok. Adding the repost button was just another step toward making TikTok more user-friendly. Even though TikTok was one of the last social media to implement a repost feature, it still is a big step toward more user engagement and a fun way for users to interact with their friends.
