Watch the Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman tell Radio X how he helped an infant breathe during the shooting of the Late Late Show segment.

Anthony Kiedis saved a baby's life during the filming of Red Hot Chili Peppers' Carpool Karaoke.

The frontman told Chris Moyles he managed to revive an infant while the band were shooting the segment back in the summer of 2016.After a dance-off which the star revealed the show didn't include, Kiedis explained he was handed a child who had difficulty breathing.

The singer explained: "We had a very interesting unscripted moment. We danced-off, we tied and then we were going to celebrate with some Mexican food on the corner.

"And a woman came out of her house holding a child, saying 'my baby, my baby, my baby can't breathe!'

"We all ran across the street. The lady thrust the baby into my arms. The baby was not breathing."

He continued: "I thought, 'i'm going to try and do a little baby CPR real quick to see if I can get some air into this kid.I tried to open the mouth. (It was) locked shut. So I started rubbing the belly, bubbles started coming out of the mouth, the eyes rolled back into place.

"The ambulance showed up and I handed the baby over who was breathing and fine.

"Then we went back to shooting Carpool Karaoke."

Wow. That's not all the hero got up to, getting topless and beating James Corden to a wrestling match.

All in a day's work for Anthony Kiedis.

In case you weren't aware, we're marching towards a brand new Red Hot Chili Peppers album in 2016. A couple of weeks back we covered its title track, The Getaway (listen HERE), and we're gonna be hearing plenty more from them over the coming months surrounding the album's release this bloody Friday. Yesterday they popped up on James Corden massively popular Carpool Karaoke segment, and it's 15 minutes of supremely weird goodness. Sing-alongs, lyric dissection, a weird wrestling stop-off and of course shirtless-ness abound. And besides they're respective heads showing a bit of age, it must be said they're lookin' good for a bunch of blokes who've been around the traps for over 30 years.

Anthony Kiedis and James Corden grapple on lawn after singer and Flea debut unreleased, nonsensical "Heemi Lheemey"

Red Hot Chili Peppers were the latest artists to cram in James Corden’s vehicle to help the Late Late Show host get to work on time for “Carpool Karaoke,” although the host likely regretted that decision as soon as Anthony Kiedis and Flea begin arguing about directions around Los Angeles within the first minute.

In addition to singing RHCP tracks “Give It Away,” “Under the Bridge,” “Californication,” new single “Dark Necessities” and a song from the musical Oliver!, Kiedis and Flea also debuted “Heemi Lheemey,” a nonsensical, quasi-yodel the pair wrote as 15-year-olds while “smoking large quantities of marijuana” in the Sierra Nevada mountain range.

A conversation about Greco-Roman-style wrestling somehow results in Corden challenging Kiedis to a “grapple” – “I would destroy you,” the host warned the singer – and suddenly the two are on some stranger’s lawn, trying to take each other down like a pair of high school wrestlers. (Kiedis ended up pinning Corden.) “I didn’t realize what level you were at then. I didn’t see that coming, Kiedis,” Corden said. Drummer Chad Smith quipped, “It’s a new show, Front Lawn Wrestling.”

Later on in the ride, guitarist Josh Klinghoffer revealed his biggest nightmare is to one day be forced by the band to strip naked for a performance, while Kiedis indulged in tales of Cher babysitting him when he was 12. “She was fit and fine,” Kiedis reminisced.

The carpool ended with the singing of “By the Way” and Corden telling the band, “I never expected this to be as fun as it has been. People say ‘don’t meet your heroes,’ but I don’t think they’ve ever met the Red Hot Chili Peppers.”

Watch Flea discuss the new Red Hot Chili Peppers album and how his snowboarding accident delayed it.

A few days ago, the Red Hot Chili Peppers piled into James Corden’s car to take off their shirts and sing some karaoke. They sang through some of their own hits, including “By the Way” and “Californication,” and even did a brief rendition of “Food, Glorious Food” from the musical Oliver! They also engaged in the usual Carpool Karaoke banter, which is how Corden ended up in a wrestling match with Anthony Kiedis. What you didn’t see in the segment, though, was Kiedis saving a baby’s life following a dance-off

Kiedis didn’t share that story until he appeared on England’s Radio X on Thursday. He told host Chris Moyles that after the unaired dance-off—which ended in a tie—they planned to celebrate with some Mexican food. Right before they set off for the restaurant on the corner, though, “A woman came out of her house holding a child, saying, ‘My baby, my baby, my baby can’t breathe!’”

The band rushed across the street to investigate, and the woman handed the baby (whose name was Nina) to Kiedis. “I thought, ‘I’m going to try and do a little baby C.P.R. real quick to see if I can get some air in this kid,’” he said. Kiedis has an eight-year-old son, so he probably has some experience keeping calm in child emergencies—although hopefully nothing this dire.

“I tried to open the mouth . . . shut, locked shut. So, I started rubbing the belly—bubbles came out of the mouth, the eyes rolled back into place. The ambulance showed up, and I handed the baby over, who was now breathing and fine. And we went back to Carpool Karaoke.”

Moyles and the rest of his studio crew are stunned. “Are you serious?” they ask Kiedis. “I’m serious,” he says. “It was kind of a beautiful thing that we stopped for the dance-off. The baby needed help. We were there. . . . When you’re a dad, and somebody yells, ‘My baby,’ you jog across the street. . . . No hero. It was just a dance-off that ended with a seizure baby.”

Now we know what happens behind the scenes of Carpool Karaoke. Actual heroics.
