CrossClimate SUV vs CrossClimate 2 Reddit

The CrossClimate2 is the newer design. The CC SUV has been updated and it also has the 3 Peak Mountain Snow Flake rating for severe snow. But it doesn't seem like they are the same tire.

The CCSUV has a 50k treadwwear warranty oposed to the 60k treadwear warranty on the CC2.

But it also depends on tire size as the CC2 is probably carried in small SUV sizes while SUV specific tires are designed for larger SUV's.

I would just look on Michelins site and look at their sizes in the CrossClimate2 and contact them about how theyve updated the CrossClimate SUV if thats the only tire offered in your size. Theyre quick with responding and have an online chat.

I really wanted to try the CrossClimate2 myself, but as with all the previous CrossClimate series, the size selection is severely lacking and not carried in my size.

They don’t launch all the sizes at the same time… the newest Winter Tires are Goodyear WinterCommand Ultra, came out with the larger sizes a year later. Winter Command focused on the smaller passenger cars, the Ultra focused on SUVs and Luxury segments.

Expect something similar with Michelin

If your vehicle is spec’d for H, prefer H. If only V is available in stock and time is a factor, it’s safe. V should have slightly worse ride, noise, fuel and wear, due to stiffer sidewall and softer tread needed to function above 130.

CrossClimate 2's are 2 generation newer than the CrossClimate SUV, which are basically the original CrossClimate's in a bigger size.

The CrossClimate 2 is about 5% better in all conditions than the CrossClimate+, and the CrossClimate+'s have better milage than the original CrossClimate's.

I've changed a customer's single CC SUV tire for a CC2, and he didn't notice anything different, maybe future wear.

You shouldn't have to be upset to choose CC SUV's instead of CC2's for only the rear. Only in extreme conditions you might notice a difference, and hey, it's a lot better than fitting two different brands!

I have an SUV which comes with the SUV tyres, but which could use the passenger tyres in the same size.

I was also looking for answer to this question, what was the difference between SUV and passenger tyres.

I went through 3 sets of SUV tyres, and 3 sets of passenger tyres in this vehicle. My conclusion is that the SUV tyres use thicker rubber in the thread. The SUV tyre makes the vehicle ride softer, and be less responsive when turning. It could wallow more when cornering. This was why I preferred the passenger tyres. I discovered that when driving on the unsealed country roads, there was totally no difference between their performance (SUV or H/T tyre vs passenger one).

Hey everyone. I see there has been similar posts in this subreddit. But I thought of making my own to see if there have been more users for the WeatherPeak

I’m looking to replace my OEM tires on my crossover SUV and am at a crossroads between the WeatherPeak and the CrossClimate 2. Both appear to be very similar in terms of ratings in Dry, Wet and Snowy and both are 3PMS rated (important for a Colorado resident). But where I’m stuck at is whether cost and warranty should be a critical factor. And overall preference/recommendations from those that already have either tire. This is my first time buying tires so I could use the guidance/help.

WeatherPeak has a longer tread life warranty and there is a special discount you can get thru purchasing at Costco (150$). But there aren’t many online reviews from customers. CrossClimates have exceptional customer reviews and Sam’s Club is also doing a discount for the tires (80$). But the tread warranty isn’t as long.

My question for you is which tires do you recommend? And how did you end up deciding on the tires you got? I’m looking to purchase before the end of summer. Any advice/recommendations would be highly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Had the same dilemma a month ago...in the end I decided to give the Bridgestone's a try. I think they will be superior in the snow and ice over the CC2's and snow performance was one of my more heavily weighted factors. Add in the fact that it is near impossible to find the Michelin's in the size I wanted (235/45R18 or 245/45R18) and the Weatherpeak's were a no-brainer.

I've had the Weatherpeak tires for a month now and I love them, they are much quieter than the factory Khumo's that came with my Seltos and they handle very well. Can't wait to play with them in the snow and our fun Saskatchewan winter...

The name means nothing, don’t focus on the “suv” part. That is probably branding to sell to you, SUV owner with a heavy ass car (and they probably come in XL load indexes as SUVs are heavy as shit). If I could run pirelli F1 racing slicks in my size I would, do I have an F1 car? No? Do they make them in my car tire size? Maybe. Has 0 to do with what car I actually own.

Just make sure your size is right and the load index of the tire is right for your car; e.g. for SUVs something like 97 or higher or whatever your SUV calls for. It will look like “235-60-18 107V”, so that 107 is an XL rating (the V is a speed rating) for tires that can handle up to 2,149 lbs each tire ... plenty of charts online BUT just match it and you’ll be fine.

For example, that same tire size and load index tire above, a very popular SUV size, also comes in a CrossClimate2 ...

Is Michelin CrossClimate 2 good for summer?

Michelin's innovation here is that the CrossClimate2 combines a new tread pattern and rubber compounds that work well in both winter and summer conditions.

Is the Michelin CrossClimate 2 noisy?

Noise is also very low, which is something you'd want from a grand touring tire. You may hear some tire noise at higher speeds, but it's not something that will be overwhelming. I have to give the CrossClimate 2 a thumbs up in this category, as it proved to be an excellent touring tire.

How long do cross Climate 2 tires last?
