Kia K5 LX Trim Level

Starting at the base trim level, the Kia K5 LX is a beauty. This model starts at $23,490 and is worth every penny in our opinion. The exterior comes in 4 color options, and the interior comes in the standard black option. Equipped with 16-inch wheels, remote keyless entry with alarm, and many other top of the line features, the LX edition is a great baseline for this vehicle and a very solid option.

Kia K5 LXS Trim Level

The next trim level, the Kia K5 LXS is similar to the baseline but adds a few additional features. Starting at $24,490, this edition adds in a few more exterior color options as well as another interior option. Equipped with a smart trunk and smart key with remote start, push-button start, and immobilizer, the technology of the LXS trim is a bit more advanced than the LX. It also comes with a folding rear center armrest with cupholders and 60/40 split folding rear seat and adjustable headrests, two things that were not present in the LX.

Kia K5 GT-Line Trim Level

The Kia GT-Line adds even more features than the previous trim option. Starting at $25,390, this edition is available in even more exterior and interior options than the LXS. The GT-Line comes equipped with 18-inch wheels in a black finish instead of the standard 16 inch, and it comes with the option to have a panoramic sunroof. The GT-Line features the GT Body Styling and mirror-mounted LED turn signal indicators. It also comes with front and rear LED lights. The last notable additions are the Pirelli P-Zero all-season tires that come on the GT-Line edition and the leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Kia K5 EX Trim Level

The next trim level, the Kia K5 EX, starts at $27,990, and the ability to customize just keeps getting better. Exterior and interior options are increased, and it comes with a panoramic sunroof with a power sunshade. This model comes equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels that come in a sleek gray machine finish. Some tech features have been improved since the last trim level including Sirius XM radio, a USB center console charging station, heated and ventilated front seats, and wireless phone charging capabilities.

Kia K5 GT Trim Level

The Kia K5 GT is the highest trim level option and appears to be the most luxurious, starting at $30,490. Like all other trim levels, the exterior and interior color options are beautiful, and you really have the ability to customize this vehicle to your taste. This model is equipped with 19-inch wheels and a panoramic sunroof. Showing off its GT body styling, the grille is distinguished from other trim levels along with the sporty exterior mirrors. Mirror-mounted LED turn signal indicators and a rear spoiler show off this luxurious trim option, and the quad-tip dual exhaust is just the cherry on top. As far as technology goes, the previous trim matches the features of the GT option.

If you choose the new Panoramic Sunroof Package for the GT-Line FWD, you’ll get the Panoramic Sunroof with Power Sunshade and added LED reading and room lights within the interior, giving it an even sportier appearance.

2023 Kia K5 GT-Line FWD vs. GT-Line AWD

You won’t find too many major differences between the GT-Line FWD and GT-Line AWD, as the only significant difference is the All Wheel Drive (AWD) capabilities. The GT-Line AWD comes with a Snow Mode option on its Drive Select, whereas the GT-Line FWD only has the other standard driving styles.

Other than the AWD capabilities, the GT-Line AWD has everything else you’ll find in the GT-Line FWD, including the Panoramic Sunroof and Premium packages option.

2023 Kia K5 GT-Line (FWD & AWD) vs. EX

The K5 EX model comes with all of the standard features of the GT-Line Model (except for the GT-body styling) to provide you with a more luxurious look to the sedan, with a lot of the extras that you won’t find in the LXS.

All of the interior options include the SynTex Seat Trim, and this model has an option for wood accent trim in the interior. The heated and ventilated front seats come standard in the EX, as well as rear vents for the air conditioning. The front center console also has an added USB port to provide additional device charging capabilities.

Perhaps the most significant difference with the EX model is that it comes standard with the Panoramic Sunroof with Power Sunshade, which makes it a good option for those who like this feature but don’t want the sportier GT body style.

You can upgrade to the Premium package to get LED turn signals, power-folding side view mirrors, LED tail lights, and a Bose Premium Audio System with 12 speakers (vs. the 6-speaker system in the other models). You’ll also get some added conveniences, like a power-adjust driver’s seat with memory and a heated steering wheel.

From a safety standpoint, an upgrade to the Premium Package will give you Park Distance Warning in the front and Parking Collision Avoidance Assistance in the rear. You’ll also get the surround view mirror, navigation-based smart cruise control, and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Junction Turning.

2023 Kia K5 EX vs. GT

If you’re looking for the top-of-the-line K5 model with all of the available bells and whistles, you’ll want to look at getting the GT option. The biggest difference between this option and the other models is the power. The GT model comes standard with a 290-horsepower engine versus the 180-horsepower engine in the other models. It also has an 8-speed dual-clutch auto transmission and 19-inch alloy wheels in a gloss black machine finish.

Other sporty features that make this model stand out include the quad-tip dual exhaust, heated GT Sport Bolster front seats, and steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

This car definitely appeals to drivers who want faster acceleration and exceptional performance out of their vehicle in both wet and dry conditions. In fact, in one test, the K5 GT outperformed the BMW 330i Sedan in these two areas.

Its sport-tuned suspension makes all of these capabilities possible. You can even add optional Pirelli P-Zero tires to enhance the performance further, and possess ultimate control of the vehicle in every road or condition you face.

The inside of the GT model looks upscale, and it comes standard with the Panoramic Sunroof with Power Sunshade. It also has the option to upgrade to the Bose Premium Audio System with 12 speakers.

If you’re looking for the enhanced driver’s-assist safety features that you can add to the GT-Line and EX models, you can also get those with this model by upgrading to the GT1 package.

Which 2023 Kia K5 Trim Should You Buy?

When looking at the different models of the Kia K5, the decision comes down to what you want to ultimately get out of the car. If you’re looking for a reliable, comfortable, and affordable family sedan, the LXS model provides the basics that you need without breaking the bank. However, it lacks many flashier features and will stand out as a basic model car.

If sporty styling is what you like, the GT-Line models provide that little extra something on the exterior that adds to the overall aesthetic. You’ll get the bigger wheels with a black finish and other black trim features, like the mirrors. You’ll also get some added interior features (like a larger touchscreen with more capabilities) and the ability to upgrade the vehicle even further with the optional packages.

Of course, the GT-Line AWD makes the most sense if you live in an area with snowy conditions. It gives you the security of AWD with the added Snow Mode Drive Select option. All of the other models are only FWD.

The EX model gives you a more luxury-looking sedan with many extra features you’ll find in the GT-Line models. It also allows you to upgrade for some of the added safety driver-assist features. Another bonus to this model is that it comes standard with the sunroof.

Finally, choose the GT model for the ultimate in sport and performance. This car gives you the thrill of driving something powerful at a fraction of the cost of some of the other comparable sedans. It’s the best choice for the driver who likes ultimate control over the road and the vehicle, and wants something that will perform excellently and look great as well. The GT is definitely a “driver’s” car, and it shows.
