I am not sure what they are called, and how much the replacement options will cost me? in the mean time is there something i can do to make them
safer as we have a 1 and 3 year old and we are afraid they will get burned. 0 Comments

Should radiators be hotter at the top?We all know that heat rises, so having a radiator that's cooler at the bottom than the top might not seem like cause for alarm. However, radiators are designed to emit heat evenly once your central heating has kicked in - they should never be colder at the top or cold at the bottom once the system is up to temperature.
Can heat from a radiator start a fire?Steam doesn't cause items to catch fire. However, steam radiators can cause fires due to malfunctions when they are improperly installed. Dust and debris build-up inside the radiator can also lead to fires, and flammable items can easily combust when set on top of a strong heat source.
Why are radiators still hot when heating is off? When a diverter fails or gets blocked with debris, hot water intended for the hot water circuit can get into the radiator circuit. Then the radiators will be hot even though the heat is turned off.
