am i suppose to tip at Olive Garden's take-out? Show
so i called in for take out at Olive Garden and when i got there the guy up front told me to go to the bar/take-out section for my order.
tip because you like the services provided, not because you feel obligated.
A dollar or two at a busy place where they have actual "take" out staff. Otherwise rarely.
what's with all the tip posts tonight!!?!?!? can you all just tip me!! taking pay pal donations !
Tipping is nice at takeout. I worked takeout at the Cheesecake Factory, did several times more work than the servers, and got a fraction of tips and pay.
No, one of the whole points of getting food take out is so you don't have to worry about paying extra for a tip.
why? they didnt cook, prepare, or serve it to you. they just answered the phone, grabbed the stuff with your name on it, and made change.

Well, if he's just a waiter who's also helping with that station, he may just get paid the sub $4/hr that a waiter makes. If he's got a special pay scale for a situation that doesn't expect a tip, then he probably should be tipped. As it's a chain restaurant, I say ask to speak with the manager and discuss how they staff that position to determine if tipping is appropriate.

Yes, you should tip your takeout people. They package up your food, make your drink, make sure you have all the condiments and utensils you need. They're expected to give the same amount of service as a regular waiter, but in a fraction of the time.

No, you don't tip take out.
If you do that, you need to start tipping Burger King, Wendy's, etc. Tipping is for the service.....which, IMO, does not include handing you your food and taking your money.

a tip in this situation is appreciated but not expected.

Why tip for terrible food? They should be paying you to eat that garbage.

I would never tip at take out. Like others have said, you tip for service, not just for them getting you your food. You're already paying for that on the bill.
Is tip included in Olive Garden? At my Olive Garden tip share is automatic. If I walked out without any tips (which has never happened) I'd owe the restaurant money tipped out to both the bussers & bartenders. It's based on your cash sales for the night.
How does tipping work at Olive Garden? We do not share tips among servers. However, a certain amount of our sales go to the bussers and a certain amount to the bartender. How authentic are the regional dishes served in Olive Garden restaurants?
What happens if you dont tip a server?Legally it's voluntary but if you slink out of a restaurant without leaving a gratuity of between 15 and 25 per cent, you're likely to be chased by a waiter demanding to know why. To help you avoid tipping anxiety (and disgruntled waitstaff), we explain how to tip in the United States.
Are you supposed to tip to go order?Yes, you should tip the waitstaff for your takeout order—if the restaurant is a traditional dine-in establishment where servers wait on tables. “An appropriate amount to tip on takeout orders would be approximately 10% to 12%,” says Kane.
