Why Preheating?

Most of new roasters will "spike" when first switched-on. When an oven is first turned on and "spikes" the inside temperature of the oven will go from cold to its highest temperature no matter the setting on the dial. Please be sure to pre-heat your electric roaster prior to lining and filling with food.

Do I need to add water to the Roaster?

Most electric roasters have hot spots. When using a clear liner, adding a little water (about 6 oz. for an 18 qt. roaster) into the roaster before putting in the liner will help prevent any hot spots from causing the liner to stick to the pan. It is also important to note that the liner should not be tucked into the heating element section of the roaster as this would put the liner in direct contact with a surface temperature in excess of 400°F. (Do not put water in the insert when using our new Foil Electric Roaster Liners.)
