Apple Pay is EVERYWHERE. And it’s so convenient.

Which got us wondering, do gas stations take Apple Pay? And in particular, does Sam’s Club take Apple Pay? This is what we found out…

Sam’s Club gas stations do not currently accept Apple Pay as a form of payment. They accept a range of other payment methods at the pump, including cash and credit card (and Walmart credit cards), Scan & Go, and Sam’s Club and Walmart gift cards.

Do Gas Stations Take Apple Pay At The Pump?

Gas stations are all about quick and easy payment transactions, and there are more and more of these being introduced. Apple Pay is a mobile payment service (by Apple Inc.) and was introduced in 2014. It’s designed to be used on all Apple smart devices.

Not all retail networks take up contactless payment technology at the same time. This is why you won’t really know which payment options a gas station offers until you get there.

However, Apple Pay is fast becoming a standard payment option at a range of chain gas stations. You’ll find that sometimes you can use it at the pump and sometimes only at the cashier.

How Do You Use Apple Pay For Gas?

First of all, check that the Apple Pay symbol is displayed at your retailer.  Then, if you’ve set up your Apple wallet, you can use your iPhone, iPad, or Apple watch to pay for your fuel. 

On your device, go to your Apple Wallet and double press the side button. When your default card appears, verify your identification with either passcode, face of touch sensor.

Then place your device on the symbol and your payment will be completed when you see a checkmark and “Done” on the screen.

Your transaction is recorded as a device specific number and unique transaction code. This means that your card number is never stored on your device or on an Apple server. Apple also state that your card numbers will never be shared by Apple with merchants.

How Do I Get Apple Pay?

Apple Pay is already on your device: it is built into the iPhone, Apple Watch, Mac and iPad, and there is no separate app to download. You just need to set it up to go.

To set up Apple Pay, simply add your debit, credit, and prepaid cards to your digital Wallet. There is no need to carry the plastic versions with you anymore. 

To add a card, sign into your wallet. You can choose a previous card or add a new one. To add a previous card, you’ll have to enter the CVV number of each card.

When entering a new card, position your device so that your card appears in the frame, or enter the card details manually.

The first card you add will become the default card for all payments. However, you can change the default card by dragging the chosen card to the front of the “stack”.

Which Gas Stations Accept Apple Pay At The Pump?

The list of gas stations accepting Apple Pay is an ever-increasing list. You can use Maps to search for gas stations near me. By selecting each station, you should be able to see a list of accepted payments for each one.

Remember too, that chain locations often accept Apple Pay at some but not all of their outlets, and while many accept Apple Pay at the pump, this is not the case for all. This means you’ll need to check first.
