How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. Thank you, to the Biden Administration, @POTUS, for taking one more bite out of the massive elephant that is #insulin affordability and access. https://t.co/D9YFmXtkfK pic.twitter.com/USPxjf9Gjn

The idea of eating an elephant, if you WERE to do it literally - is unnerving. How would you do it? Where would you start? How long is it going to take? Aren't you going to get sick of eating elephant every day for HOW LONG!?

These are all questions we ask ourselves anytime we are presented with an overwhelming goal or challenge in our life. Maybe it's graduating from school, maybe it's finishing a project, or getting over a breakup. The idea of some challenges in life can be so dreadful, that sometimes we'll give up altogether. This is because we get so preoccupied with celebrating the end result, that we forget to celebrate the journey along the way. We want instant gratification.

So how DO you eat an elephant? One bite at at time. That's how.

Sure, eating an elephant can seem overwhelming - but if you take a bite or eat a piece one day, celebrate the victory of doing just that! This way you are celebrating the ACTIVITY - a step in the process TOWARDS the goal. Your mindset will begin to shift and you will see the overall goal as just that - a goal. Something you are working towards. Celebrating the little wins along the way will make the final goal that much more sweet once it arrives. Because it WILL finally arrive. We know this.

If you're trying to get your degree - celebrate every assignment you accomplish, every exam you take, every page you read, celebrate your wins along the way. If you're grieving the loss of a relationship - celebrate every day where you channel your emotions in a positive way and don't flip through their social media feed. Give yourself credit along the way and throw a mini party every step you take.

You WILL get to your goal, you WILL accomplish what you need to accomplish. It's good to keep your goal in mind, but don't lose track of the fun you can have while you enjoy the ride. The trip can sometimes be more fun than the actual destination.

One bite at a time, and celebrate every bite. Keep going, because you got this.
