The usual norm found in the cocoa literature revolves around 25 pods per kg of beans.

How many cocoa beans does it take to make 1 pound of chocolate?

Approximately 400 beans are required to make one pound of chocolate. The cacao tree is so fragile and its roots are so shallow that it is unsafe for workers to climb the trunk to reach pods on the higher boughs.

How many cacao beans can you eat?

Ideally eat a minimum of 8 whole roasted peeled beans every day. After roasting they will be soft and warm, but as they cool down the cacao butter within the bean will harden and the bean itself will become crunchy.
