For the love of travel Reddit

Looking at the prices, it's very expensive...2.6k for 1 week in Portugal? Itineraries don't look that great either. However, it seems geared towards singles (website claims 80%) which might be a plus. And on a scale of touristy/fun to off the beaten path/cultured I think For the Love of Travel is somewhere in the middle.

Take a look at Intrepid Travel. Their itineraries are amazing and off the beaten path. Travelers are mostly in their 30s to 40s. There were a lot of couples on the trips I went on but I never felt left out.

Another option is G Adventures like someone else mentioned.

I think their target age of 24-36 is the most common range for Intrepid tours, they're just trying to charge more by marketing specifically to yuppies.

Which is good, I guess, if it gets the kind of people who are drawn to marketing phrases like "young professional", "millennial creatives, entrepreneurs and other assorted cool kids" to places where I can easily avoid them.

Ooh. I'm salty this morning.

Check out Girl Gone International, they plan trips within Europe (for now, they’re looking to expand) for women. The target group is women who’ve moved from their home country to another, but there are plenty of digital nomads and women who like travel too. Their trips stopped with COVID but they’re restarting with some trips to Iceland this year and hopefully next year there will be more trips.

They’re usually a long weekend or a full week in a destination, prices are reasonable and the activities include cultural tours and visits. I went to Barcelona and Rome with the group, both times about 20 people, and had a great time.

I have travelled with Contiki twice, and i can highly reccomend it.

Once through the west coast USA, and another through europe.

I find that there is a common misconception of it being a party only tour, which from my experience simply is not true. Yes people will always party, but lots of people don't, or only go out a few times.

The tours have always been professional, your trip manager has heaps of knowledge about every place you visit, and my bus drivers have been fantastic.

If you are looking to see alot, in not alot of time, a group tour can take the hassle out of it.

Hey everyone, I’m a junior in college and for my final paper I am writing about why humankind has an innate want to travel the world. I have the historical data, but I need examples from real life people. (And since my professor explicitly said I was allowed to cite strangers on Reddit) I figured this was the beat place to ask. So tell me: Why do you love to travel?

Edit: Thank you so much for your responses! My professor saw this post and loved the different reasons why, and the ones I cited. Y’all are awesome!

I see the hate for people who ~love to travel~ a lot around here, and I have absolutely no idea how to handle it on my profile. I DO love to travel. One of the main things that sold me on my career was that I would be able to travel widely and frequently.

In the last six years I've spent anywhere from 1 week to 1 year in 5 different countries, not to mention weekend trips to various cities in the U.S. It is, for me, a huge passion. However, it seems like people (around here at least) frequently read as that as bragging or dismiss it as "Who cares? Everyone loves to travel" (sidenote: no, not everyone loves to travel or makes it a priority like I do).

So how do I address this in my profile without getting an automatic eye-roll from visitors?

Edit: There are a lot of suggestions for telling an interesting story in lieu of a dull "I love to travel" thing, but that doesn't convey the frequency/length of my travels. Given the amount of time I'm away from home and the desire to have a partner who is willing/able to travel with me (at least some of the time), I feel that this needs to be addressed as well.

Sure, happens all the time. It can be sweet when there's the time to explore the romance, it can be cruel when time's short and you each go your own way too soon. But those memories of parting can be warm too.

I remember reading my book on the outside upper deck of the sea ferry from Brindisi, Italy to Patras, Greece. A really nice girl came sit next to me. We never went to sleep, and just talked and talked while sailing under that warm full-moon night. She had wine with her and we shared her bottle. There were those awkward smiles when we looked at each other, but we never kissed. The connection was warm and strong though.

Upon arrival in Patras we decided to have some breakfast until her bus to Athens arrived. I would take the train down south later. After some coffees and bread, her bus suddenly arrived. So she got up, picked up her bag, waved at me and disappeared in that bus that drove off. It felt sad... like she left a real void after only that one night.

Then something funny happened. Her bus stopped after 100 meters or so, opened its door and she came running out towards me. She gave me a big kiss before she ran back to her bus and drove off. It's a sweet memory of that summer in Greece.

Why does everyone say they love to travel?

It allows us to explore new places Nothing compares to that feeling of seeing a new place for the first time, triggering the rush of serotonin to your brain. Unsurprisingly, this feeling can be addictive, which is why so many people love travelling and experience wanderlust even when they're not on the road.

Why do people love travelling reddit?

I like to travel because it warms my soul. I never feel as refreshed as i do when i come back from a big international trip. And as a secondary part: i try to find places i can retire to or at least spend some time. I love to travel because it help me grow and develop a closer connection with this world.
