What is the Generac PWRcell?
The PWRcell is a battery storage system that harnesses power from the sun or the electric grid to help you reduce costs, your reliance on the electric grid, and be prepared for unexpected power outages. Every PWRcell battery storage system consists of one PWRcell inverter, a battery storage cabinet, and lithium ion battery modules.

How does a home battery storage system work?
PWRcell stores energy from either solar panels or the grid in lithium ion battery modules. The inverter converts the stored energy from direct current (DC) energy into alternating current (AC) energy which can be used to power your home during peak demand times or utility power outages.

How can a battery storage system help me save money?
During peak demand times, when utility prices are at their highest, the stored energy can be deployed to power your home, helping you reduce costs. Also, a battery storage system can be self-sustaining since solar panels don’t rely on power from the grid to continue converting sunlight into electricity. The Generac PWRcell provides the opportunity to go off the grid, completely eliminating your electric bill.

How can a battery storage system protect my home from power outages?
During a utility power outage, the energy stored in PWRcell can be deployed to provide backup power. Your family and home stay safe and comfortable, providing you with the peace of mind you deserve.

How much power can PWRcell provide?
Generac is proud to offer the largest energy storage capacity when compared to competitive products on the market today. One PWRcell battery storage cabinet, consisting of six battery modules, offers 17.1kWh of energy storage capacity. Combine up to two PWRcell battery storage cabinets, with a total of 12 battery modules, for up to 34.2kWh of energy storage capacity.

How do I know what size system is right for me?
Generac’s PWRcell offers a modular design for easy customization that meets most customers’ electricity needs. Given the number of configurations available, Generac recommends that you work with an authorized Generac installer to determine the right size for your home.

Is the installation process difficult?
Most PWRcell units can be installed in just a day. Generac recommends that all PWRcell battery storage systems are installed by an authorized Generac installer to ensure that the system is installed to your municipal code and is operating as intended.

Where is the PWRcell installed in my home?
The inverter and battery storage cabinet are typically installed inside of an attached or detached garage. If there is no garage on the property, the authorized installer will help to identify another location within the home to accommodate the installation.

How much does PWRcell cost?
The PWRcell battery storage system starts at just $9,999 MSRP+. This price point includes 1- Inverter, 1- Battery Storage Cabinet, and 3 – battery modules. Special financing, as well as state or federal rebates, tax credits, and other financial incentives are available, and make the PWRcell even more affordable.

Does the Generac PWRcell include solar panels?
While Generac does not manufacture or distribute solar panels, our authorized partners can sell and install them – making your entire solution turnkey.
