The main advantage of Great Shard (and it's not much of one) I've found so far is in getting an initial heavy hit in, particularly surprise/rear hits for bonus damage, which allows one-shotting a decent number of smaller enemies. For me it was a big help for clearing the Morne castle bailey/courtyard. It also allows you to do 43% higher DPS if you are flush with FP and spamming (and with a slight range advantage too--5% maybe?). Otherwise I find Pebble beats it on the basis of damage-to-FP efficiency nearly across the board. Show See here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/t6s3y0/sorcery_damage_chart/ I'm still experimenting with my other early-to-midgame sorceries to see what is most useful in my 3rd memory slot (Pebble and Carian Slicer are my bread-and-butters). Glintstone Arc I find has more situational usefulness than Great Shard overall when handling mobs (though even then I usually find myself switching to Carian Slicer after a shot or two so I expect to dump Arc soon). Phalanx was a joke. Swift Shard is next to try. I'm expecting good things when I get Rock Sling + Meteorite staff. Swift Glintstone Shard is a Sorcery in Elden Ring. Swift Glintstone Shard spell fires a fast projectile towards the enemy. One of the glintstone sorceries of the Academy of Raya Lucaria. The glintstone
serves as a conduit, launching swift magical projectiles at foes. Those unworthy of the stone crown typically end their brief journey into sorcery here. Where to find Swift Glintstone ShardWhere to find Swift Glintstone Shard:
Elden Ring Swift Glintstone Shard Guide
Elden Ring has the most robust magic system of any FromSoftware game so far, with all manner of spectacular spells to cast. Not all of them are very good, though. In fact, some are arguably useless, and it’s often hard to tell which is worth investing in as you attempt to build a powerful arsenal to take down the game’s harder bosses and areas. Here we’ll be reviewing what we consider the best sorceries in Elden Ring. The Best Sorceries in Elden RingGlintstone Pebble (INT 14) You might start off with the Glinstone Pebble as an Astrologer, but don’t be fooled into thinking this entry-level spell isn’t one of the best in the game. It’s extremely FP efficient for the damage it inflicts, and it will obviously scale with your character and staff as you level so that by the game’s end, it’s hitting for impressive DPS. The Glinstone Pebble is your workhorse spell, and if you haven’t already got it as an Astrologer, then purchase it from Sorceress Sellen in Waypoint Ruins for 1,000 Runes. Swift Glintstone Shard (INT 12) Essentially a faster-firing version of Glintstone Pebble, the Swift Glintstone Shard fires projectiles at rapid speed and only costs 5FP per cast. It makes for another great spell to spam at clusters of enemies. You can purchase it from Miriel, Paster of Vows, the giant tortoise at the Church of Vows in Liurnia of the Lakes after you have handed over the Academy Scroll, which is found in a cemetery just west of the very first Liuna Site of Grace (directly north of Stormveil Castle). Magic Glintblade (INT 14) If you chose the Prisoner class, then you’ll already be aware of how powerful the Magic Glintblade spell is, but for those who didn’t, then we highly recommend adding it to your arsenal. It has two unique properties: it fires from above the spellcasters head, and it fires two projectiles at once. Both these elements combine for a spell that’s tricky to avoid and can hit enemies from locations they might otherwise be immune to damage. You can purchase it for 3,00 Runes from Miriel, Paster of Vows, the giant tortoise at the Church of Vows in Liurnia of the Lakes. Carian Slicer (INT 14) A spell that turns your staff into a magical melee blade that slices through enemies for only a tiny slither of FP per strike. The Carian Slicer is a go-to spell for dealing with basically any type of enemy, so long as you don’t mind getting up close and personal (something not necessarily akin to a magic build). You can purchase it from Sorceress Sellen in Waypoint Ruins for 1,500 Runes, but only after handing over the Royal House Scroll, which itself is found just south-east of the Waypoint Ruins on a corpse resting on a large structure. Ambush Shard (INT 23) If you’ve ever been frustrated by enemies who dodge ranged spells then the Ambush Shard is a perfect solution. It strikes enemies from behind for a similar amount of damage to a Glintstone Pebble, and they can’t really avoid it. You can find the spell in the Weeping Peninsula on a corpse in the underground jail of the Witchbane Ruins. It’s a fairly easy location to zip through if you’re Level 25+. Rock Sling (INT 18) Easily one of the most powerful early game spells, the Rock Sling is a gravity spell that is perfect in combination with the Meteorite Staff. Both the staff and the spell can be found in Caelid. We have a detailed guide here that offers you step-by-step directions. This should be your go-to spell for boss encounters right up until the mid-game. Comet Azur (INT 60) Perhaps the best late-game spell, which is excellent versus the game’s hardest boss encounters and enemy types. The Comet Azur hits for a lot of damage but has a long cast time and drains quite a bit of FP per use. Still, there’s no doubt it’s one of the best spells in the game. To get Comet Azur, go to the Hermit Village in eastern Mt. Gelmir and then head north, past the Demi-Human Queen miniboss. Look for the Primeval Sorcerer Azur Site of Grace with Azur’s corpse; the spell is close by. Scholar’s Armament (INT 12) For those who have opted for, say, a Dex/Int build or some sort of hybrid setup that allows them to wield powerful melee weapons in addition to spellcasting, the Scholar’s Armament is a must-have. It adds magic damage to weapons that don’t already have a buff (such as magic, faith, fire, etc). This increases the damage output and can be extremely powerful when paired with certain combinations of weapons. You can purchase it from Sorceress Selen for 3,000 Runes at Waypoint Ruins. Rennala’s Full Moon (INT 70) A powerful spell that you won’t be able to use until the late game, Rennala’s Full Moon is one you should be familiar with after having defeated Rennala herself at the Raya Lucaria Academy. The spell has a very long cast time, transforming the player-character into a moon that is then launched forward and hits enemies for massive damage. It’s a fun spell to cast, but it’s one you will need to use carefully, given how long it takes to complete. That should give you everything you need to know about the best sorceries in Elden Ring.
