Pine Creek Golf Club is located just north of Mason City along Highway 65. The Club offers a nine hole game (par 31). We cater to company, family, weddings, and all social golf outings! Open daily 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The golf course was established in 1956 and is comprised of two very distinct nines. The par for eighteen holes is 72 with total yardage of approximately 6,200 yards. The front nine is the older of the two nines, measuring 2,950 yards and has small greens with tight, tree-lined fairways.

1. Highland Park Golf Course

Highland Park Golf Course was built in 1956 and is known for its long fairway that covers over 6,000 yards. It is not the most difficult 18-hole course, but if you want to practice your game and enjoy a relaxed afternoon hitting a few balls, then Highland Park is the place to go.

Reasonably priced, and open to the public from April to October, Highland Park is the perfect community golf course in Mason City. The staff is friendly and the crew diligently maintains the rough. Overall, Highland Park is a clean and inviting course that offers a new challenge at every hole.

2. Mason City Country Club

Mason City Country Club is a private golf course with a championship course layout. It has been around since 1914 and has hosted some of the most prestigious golf events such as the Iowa State Match Play. Their monthly golf schedule from May through August is filled with mixers and tournaments for golf enthusiasts. Plus, they encourage comradery with golf outings and group youth lessons.

The main 18-hole course provides a challenge for even experienced golfers. Across the slopes in the design, through mature trees, around sand traps, and bodies of water, you will feel invigorated playing on the Mason City links. Additionally, their driving range boasts well-manicured grass perfect for honing the skills needed for your short game.

3. Pine Creek Golf Club

Pine Creek has the best course when you only have time for nine holes. This executive course is now open to the public and is great for golfers of all skill levels. Pine Creek is a par 31 course, so you will be able to stretch your legs on an easy walk through the fairway without having to invest an entire day at the club.

The rough is cut to create mesmerizing curves along this circular course, and the creek running through the terrain provides an additional degree of challenge. The friendly staff and low-key atmosphere make this course a great place to escape for the afternoon.

4. Veenker Memorial Golf Course

If you are a regular golfer and want to try a course outside of town, or you’re interested in taking a weekend golf trip, you should consider Veenker Memorial Golf Course. It’s about an hour and a half drive south of Mason City but it’s one of the top-rated greens in the state. Veenker is a premier public facility run by Iowa State University. Its construction dates back to the 1930s when it was designed by Perry Maxwell.

The fairway covers nearly 7,000 yards of lush grass, interspersed with large trees and shrubbery. While you’re at Veenker you can book a private lesson with PGA Professional Greg Dingel. Or, if you prefer to practice on your own, Veenker Memorial also has an excellent driving range for you to perfect your skills.
