This time on Uke Lessons, Aldrine does a cover of CCR's "Have You Ever Seen The Rain" on ukulele! It's a fairly simple song in the key of C. Perfect for beginners who know their basic chords and strumming, with some interesting passing chords and a riff for intermediate and advanced players to have fun on as well. Jump right in and try playing along with the "Have You Ever Seen The Rain" Ukulele Play-Along above and if you need help learning it, start with any of the steps below:

STEP 1 - Chords

Start by learning these 4 easy ukulele chords (top row):

These are four of the basic beginner chords (C, Am, F, G7), so if you need help learning which fingers to use for each, be sure to check out the explainer video above. Memorize the chord names, how to hold them, and practice switching between them. Great job! You can actually play the entire song just using these four chords already.

If you'd like to add a little flair, add the two chords on the bottom row (Cmaj7 and Am/G) to your chord arsenal. You'll be using these two as "passing chords" during the chorus. Practice switching from C to Cmaj7 and from Am to Am/G. The transitions are fairly simple and once you have them down, it should be pretty easy to add them to your playing. STEP 2 - Chord Patterns

There are 3 sections of the song with different chord patterns for each: the Intro, the Verse, and the Chorus. All of them are fairly straightforward, though the chorus has the most chord changes, if you decide to use the passing chords. STEP 3 - Strumming

A simple, steady down strum works for this song, but if you'd like to use a more interesting rhythm, check out the video above for some ideas. Start by adding some up strums in between your down strums. Next, add a chunk on beats 2 and 4. Finally, if you really want a challenge, "miss" the down strum on beat 3.

Try these rhythm ideas out and see what works for you! Whatever you're able to do, as long as you keep time with the song, you should be alright. STEP 4 - The Riff

Finally, for the adventurous players, we have a simple picking riff to go with this song. It requires picking two strings at the same time, but don't be intimidated. Watch the video above, try it out for yourself. Note that in the Play-Along, Aldrine plays it slightly different than the way he teaches it in the video above, so refer to the TABS if you need more guidance. You can play it either way and it sounds great! It may take a little practice, but you should be able to memorize the positions and play the riff in time with the beat.
