However if you use it as protection prior and or after sun exposure it works like a charm. Sometimes if I’ve been out in the sun for too long my face starts to feel a little hot but when I put the stuff on it feels better almost immediately. Also if I put this on as a base right after I wash my face and then apply moisturizer I noticed that my skin feels a lot more hydrated and plump then if I would’ve put lotion alone. The mixture of Aloe vera plus a number of other natural ingredients makes this product my go-to for small burns both in the kitchen and when I've had too much sun (without enough sunscreen). It has a pleasant natural smell, no perfumes. I keep it in the refrigerator for two reasons. It stays fresher longer and the coolness is soothing to irritated/burned skin. Because it really doesn't take much -- a tiny drop usually goes a very long way. Also, because there are only two circumstances under which I used to use it -- either when all else failed, or for skin problems in very sensitive areas where other products might be irritating or harsh. Recently, I had an issue with my elbows. One of them was SO dry that it was actually painful. Rough, scaly, dry, painful. I tried everything on this elbow, for weeks I was rubbing various lotions and oils into it. Nothing made much difference at all. So, since all else failed, eventually I turned to my trusty Herbal Aloe Force Skin Gel. It was like a miracle. The pain was GONE in seconds, and my skin felt SO much better. I have kept using it on this elbow, which now a couple weeks later feels soft and supple. In these past couple of weeks, since I've had it sitting out on the table to use on my elbow, I've been using it on other things -- callouses, and the dry skin on my hands that has been a problem for months. Again, it's been like a miracle. And I suddenly start looking back over the past several years and realizing that the reason it was my go-to remedy when all else failed is that it always works. So rather than using it as a last resort, I've started slathering it on myself, with very wonderful results. So, I had to order another bottle, after having this bottle for about 5 years (and it still works great). I am about to finish off the old bottle and start on the new bottle. Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2017 I came across a company representative (I believe it was the owner) promoting this line of aloe-based products at a local health food store in Florida nearly 17 years ago. At the time I had mild acne and sensitive skin (common for a 13 yr old male), and decided to give their skin gel a try as a bedtime facial gel. Not to overstate, but I've basically been religiously using this skin gel almost every night for the past 17 years. I swear by it. I'm 31 now and routinely surprise people that I look so young. People will ask what I do to keep my skin looking youthful and I always point them to this product. Outside of a mild facial cleanser (Burt's Bee's Brightening Daily Facial Cleanser), this is the only consistent product I've used (in addition to sunscreen for prolonged sun exposure periods). There are very few products that I'll wholeheartedly stand by and recommend to family and friends; this one is near the top of the list. I've tried other aloe skin gels and haven't been fully satisfied. If you're looking for an all-purpose skin gel, or nighttime gel- and you're not allergic to any of the ingredients- I would recommend trying this product and giving it a go consistently for a few months.
