Looking for the lyrics to this song "Here I Am Lord." Used to sing it at Catholic guitar Mass in the 1980's.
Words I remember(lines from several verses):
I the Lord of wind and sea
I have heard my people's plea
I have died for love of them
They turn away.
Whom shall I send?
Chorus (I think this is verbatim):
Here I am Lord. Is it I Lord? I have heard you calling in the night. I will go Lord, if you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart.

Hi there. Here are the lyrics you're looking for. Words and Music are by Daniel L. Schutte, copyright 1981.
Mr. Schutte's Web site is at //www.danschutte.com/main.htm
1.
I, the Lord of sea and sky,
I have heard my people cry.
All who dwell in dark and sin,
My hand will save.
Chorus
Here am I, Lord. Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.
2.
I, who made the stars of night,
I will make their darkness bright.
Who will bear my light to them?
Whom shall I send?
Chorus
3.
I, the Lord of snow and rain,
I have borne my people's pain.
I have wept for love of them.
They turn away.
Chorus
4.
I will break their hearts of stone,
Give them hearts for love alone.
I will speak my words to them.
Whom shall I send?
Chorus
5.
I, the Lord of wind and flame,
I will send the poor and lame.
I will set a feast for them.
My hand will save.
Chorus
6.
Finest bread I will provide,
'Til their hearts be satisfied.
I will give my life to them.
Whom shall I send?
Chorus
As always, the lyrics are posted for informational purposes only. If you plan to use these, sheet music is available on MusicNotes.Com
Hope it helps!
God bless,
Steve

Hi Guest. I can't post the chords, as this would be a copyright violation. But you can purchase an Octavio for $1 here...I assume one of the books/octavios here would have chords, but you might want to call the company to check first.
If you're interested in hearing it, there's a nice recording on this CD:

Your best resource is probably to ask the composer himself. According to his Web site, the e-mail address is:

All the best on your mission trip!
