How did someone I dont know Add me by search on Snapchat?

I’ve had this problem before in late February, early March. Over time it went away and it was a lot more frequent then. However I just had another 2 bots add me by search again this morning. Has anyone else had this issue? If so please tell me, because I’m worried about it and would just like some assurance that it’s not something to worry about. If you have had the problem but don’t know a fix, that’s ok, just please tell me I’m not the only one dealing with it lmao. Thanks.

Pretty sure I’ve been added by a random today. They’ll probably try with a lot of people considering the date

level 1

Most of those are ewhores, people with pictures of a certain individual in various poses and positions in order to fool people and try to get money out of people. Doesnt work on most people but it definitely does on some and thats enough for people to do that shit regularly.

level 1

Just got 2 today, one yesterday and a couple from a few days before. I had a month of silence now they’re coming back :(

level 2

Mine have left me pretty much entirely, very very very few add me and I mean I haven’t had any in over a few months except from like one bot. Hopefully it just needs a bit more time before it goes away for u too!

level 1

I’ve been getting them all day today, I tried asking a couple who they are and how they got my snap. Two responded, one just saying “you know me” and the other saying “just trying to promote my of” I just blocked them both.

level 2

I’d just advise not to add anyone you don’t know and they’ll go away in due time just as they left me alone eventually

I been having this issue. They think they are scamming me.I however know all the signs and like to play with them for a bit before I drop them. It usually takes them all two seconds to ask me for my bank account info and for me to send them my photo ID information. Like who is dumb enough to snap their picture of IDs? Who would give bank information? They all think I am a desperate lonely pitiful female who is sitting all alone wishing for a rich man to sweep me off my feet.HELLO we are not in movies and I am not dumb. That never happens.

My adds have stopped. Please don’t panic, these are actually really really common! Tonnes of people get them, I asked my friends about it and they assured me that they’ve had bot adds for ages. Please don’t panic, give it a month or so, it will all go away. :)

level 1

From the last 3 or 4 days so many ppl are adding me by searching me up Is there any way i can stop it?

level 2

Your account is likely posted to a site called “livingitspiritual”. It’s fucking annoying.

level 2

Unfortunately, no. However I have stopped getting them completely after a month or so. They begin to slow down until they’ve fully stopped.

level 1

I’m currently getting added by search too and I’m pretty sure it’s because someone is posting it on forums. A few years ago I randomly got sent dick pics and my boyfriend at the time managed to find the forum on 4chan where dude was asking people to drop girl’s usernames so he can send them shit. I don’t post my snapchat anywhere and I’ve deleted a lot of people since then.

level 2

I seem to be bot free at the moment. What a asshole, who even wants to send shit to random strangers like ew. Thanks for replying, hope all is well!

level 1

I’ve been experiencing this all day today for the first time. I asked one how they knew me and they said quick add but the majority say by search. One of the accounts started spamming me with snaps of nothing but a black screen.

Incredibly frustrating, idk how they’re finding me

level 2

It used to be a lot more frequent, it had been about 2 weeks since my last bot add until this morning. But it is frustrating, however I assume it’ll go away with time and it’s also a fairly common issue. Bots are everywhere nowadays :/ The bots should go away in time👍

A social networking application is as only good as its user base, especially when it comes to engagement and activity. You could have one of the best designed apps in the world, but if people aren't spending a good chunk of time on it and posting content, then it's really not going to pop off.

Naturally growing "friend" groups of individual users is a good way to promote that growth, so is that why so many random people have been adding you on Snapchat recently?

You might be asking yourself, "Why are random people adding me on Snapchat?"

If you've been using Snapchat recently, then you may have noticed a large number of people who probably shouldn't have access to your phone number or username are sending you friend requests.

That's because of the "Quick Add" feature buried in the settings tab.

As answered by Jason Zhen on Quora, "Yes, your name is put on Quick Add. Snapchat has this feature where it determines which friends you have added, and they will show possible mutual friends you have. People that see you on Quick Add may add you if they know you."

So how do you disable Quick Add on Snapchat?

That's a fairly straightforward process:

  1. Launch Snapchat. (Make sure you're logged in, duh.)
  2. Tap your profile avatar/bitmoji in the upper left-hand corner.
  3. Then tap the Settings cog in the upper right-hand corner of your profile page.
  4. Scroll down to "Who Can..." then tap "See Me in Quick Add."
  5. Toggle/untoggle "Show me in Quick Add."

If you're trying to restore your Snapstreak, Snapchat user support has got you covered.

One of the most puzzling errors multiple Snapchat users have complained about is the disappearance of Snapstreaks between friends. Thankfully, the app's development team handles those queries quite often and has a dedicated form to assist folks in getting their Snapstreak reinstated. You can learn more about Snapstreak support by clicking here.

why tf do all these random people add me on Snapchat and it’s always by search

Can I change my Snapchat username?

Unfortunately, that's not possible. Once you create your Snapchat username, that's going to be the handle that you use on the application. But what if you were in high school and had an unhealthy obsession with 5 Seconds of Summer and your username reflects that? Well, you'll either have to delete it or create a new account from a new email address or phone number.

Or you could just honor your past and embrace the fact that you were a 5SOS die hard.

How do I delete/deactivate my Snapchat account?

If you really don't want to use your Snapchat account or want to get rid of that OG username, you can follow the full instructions on Snapchat's support page here.

Note: You do have 30 days to reverse your decision should you want to rejoin the application and keep all of your account information intact. If you delete your account and those 30 days expire, then so does your account info, so maybe set an alarm on your phone at 29 days in case you're on the fence about really parting ways with the app.

If you were added by username, someone searched your username and added you. Change your search preferences, disable the Quick Add button, and disable Snapchat from syncing your phone contacts to avoid receiving random Snapchat friend requests.

How does someone add you by search on Snapchat?

Adding by Search If you are using your real name on Snapchat, your friends can search for you and use it to add you as their friend. Also, if someone knows your Snapchat username, they can search for it, and when your profile comes up, they can add you as a friend.

What does it mean when someone you don't know adds you on Snapchat?

Usually that means they've found your profile by either searching for your user, or a photo of your snap code without scanning it with the app.

Who are these random people adding me on Snapchat?

Why Do Random People Add Me on Snapchat? Most times that you receive an unwanted friend request, we are talking about a random stranger or a bot account. Bot accounts add people automatically, and this seems to be a problem on Snapchat from the very beginning.
