We’ve known the standard truck’s price for months. It starts just under $36,000, plus a $1,695 destination fee. But Toyota held back details on the hybrid model until today.
The Tundra hybrid – Toyota calls it the i-Force MAX – starts at $52,300, plus that same destination fee. The hybrid powertrain is not available on budget-oriented SR5 or off-road-oriented TRD Pro models. At every other trim level, opting for the hybrid version adds about $3,400 to the truck’s price.
The i-Force MAX powertrain is the most powerful option available, at 437 horsepower – 48 more than the rest of the lineup.
The EPA certifies it for 20 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway or 22 mpg in combined driving. That’s an impressive figure for a full-size truck. But shoppers will note that the Ford F-150 PowerBoost hybrid earned a rating 2 mpg higher. That powertrain, however, is only available on the F-150 King Ranch and higher trims, meaning it costs thousands more up front.
