While Large Titanite Shards are significantly more expensive and rare than Titanite Shards, they are required to upgrade standard weapons to +10 and armor to +6. They are also required to ascend standard weapons down the Raw upgrade path and reinforce them to +5.
Just wondering because I saw them as a purchase option but I'd like to know if I could just keep buying them to upgrade my weps/armor.

Ok cool. Doesn't that mean I could just "farm" souls in darkroot and upgrade my armor to +10 pretty quickly?

after a few upgrades you're gonna need large titanites to continue upgrading and +10 requieres a slab iirc

No, once you hit +5 you need to ascend it to +6, which requires an ember. Then you need titanite chunks to upgrade it.

nah up to an including 5 requires just shards
6 up to 10 requires large shards + large ember
11-14 requires chunks + very large ember
15 requires slab
Top 10 in Banjo Tooie leaderboards...not bad

^yes this is for weapons, but for armor embers arent needed and can only be upgraded to +10 (regular armor), armor that uses twinkling to upgrade go up to only +5 i think
