I'm talking about wild maryland oysters , I have heard wild figures from 80-300 , their should be an average because most maryland oysters are harvested between 3 and 4 inches. Are these hundred counts you get wild or farmed ?

Maryland's wild oyster season closed in March and opens again October 1st. Any prices you've gotten in the mean time would have to be farmed oysters.

Wild chinco's and bluepoints. $70 for 100 ct boxes..
My buddy dives for bay oysters in the winter and some are 5-6" long and huge. No way you are getting over 150-200 in a bushel.

Comm harvested wild md oysters can go up to 300, harvest by hand tong or pat. tong and dredging. i bought a bus several years ago from the pax. river in a bus basket and it was rightat or just a bit more that 300ct. and produced about a gallon of pure heaven. note that alot of the pax. river oysters broke while shucking, i asked around and someone told me the shells broke because the oysters grew fast thus thin shells. we shuck by hinge.

Pax river oysters are the worst i ever had. Nasty looking and bland. Think they were sold under Chincoteague shellfish farms label.

Think there's some kind of oyster fest in the York Pa area this weekend. Saw something on WPMT 43.

With the season in they are down to $50, at least from our supplier. The boxes are 200 count but on the rare occasion we have got them in Bu. baskets they seem to hold a little more maybe just me or an optical illusion.
