How to change theme on PS5 Reddit

Seriously, it's a bit ridiculous we don't have this yet. It's an extremely basic customization option and the latest-gen console doesn't offer it, a year after release? Come on.

Has this been addressed at any point? Is it going to be added in the future?

It probably isn't happening. If it was, Sony probably would have said something about it at this point.

I hope they update the OS and add that, but at this point, I'm not holding my breath.

Do you spend hours staring at your Ps5’s menus? Or do you go to the game/movie/service you’re looking for?

I’d rather they implement folders, myself. Something actually useful for those of us with a lot of games in our library.

Because I like it. I don't stare at my desktop or phone home screen for hours either, I still enjoy choosing my wallpaper/color theme. Being able to do that has been a default baseline for electronics for over a decade. A 2020 console not having it is weird at best.

Agreed about the folders but it really doesn't need to be one or the other.

They removed a well known loved feature that let you customize your own theme for your own console making it unique to you. People are not happy because it was a feature in the last 2 Sony consoles ps3 and ps4 and they removed it for no reason. Nothing worse then removing small features that have already been implemented in previous consoles.

I'm not really upset. But I am a bit irked/ confused.

I enjoy changing my wallpapers, themes etc., and it's a default customization functionality that has been universally accepted across electronics for many years now. It's very weird that the latest console doesn't have something that basic over a year after its release.

I don’t think it will happen as the UI is designed around whatever is focused on being the background. I prefer it this way by far so I hope they don’t change it all to cater to the people who want themes. If they give both as an option great, if it’s either it remains the same or they overhaul it to make those work then I would pick remain the same.

I think having the choice would be best. I can see how someone would prefer the current setting, but personally, I'd prefer the themes option.

I’m here cause I googled the same thing xD While it’s not a big deal and surely not a deal-breaker it’s one of the small annoying persistent issues of “Just why?” that doesn’t make me mad but kinda makes me miss other consoles. Like their decision to strip it of a proper web browser.. Things I’d thought were a given and didn’t even consider it WOULDN’T have.

It’s like moving to a city that just didn’t offer home internet coverage capabilities, yeah I’d get by using cellphones and wouldn’t just leave but I’d be disappointed, estranged and view it as just kind of stupid. I mean missing a web browser is definitely more pressing but abandoning personalization is in the same boat.

Ps4 did allow you to customize themes, i loved my dark souls 3 theme.

Maybe they wanted a change of direction?

Besides, even if we get themes, PS4 themes would have to have a PS5 profile added to them, plus Sony were phasing them out anyways, making it so they could only be bundled with games. Good luck getting publishers to go back over their old dynamic themes to make them work with the PS5 UI

Yeah, same. Its seems to be for US accounts. I'm in the UK and my main account (UK) dont have an explore page but my alt account (US) has one when i switch over to it.

I miss the Glorious PS3/PSP Theme Era when there were tools to make and share themes! then PS4 got stingy and here we are with nothing on PS5...

You can actually get free custom PS3/PSP themes from other websites and install them without having to mod your console, it was great. Now if you want to install custom PS4 theme then you need to jailbreak the PS4.

Absolutely. Forced advertisement never works for me. I regularly paid for themes on PS4 and I'd be happy to do it again on the 5. They could probably make some reeeeeal pretty ones too.
