How To Perform the Drop Step in NBA 2K22

The drop step, also known as a reverse pivot, is a move in which a player posting up takes a back step on the side of a defender behind him and spins to gain an advantage. You can perform this move by following the steps below;

Playstation 4 & 5

Hold the L2 button and continue to back down the defender to see his position and where he is defending you. If you’re backing down and the defender is covering the right side, release the L2 button and immediately move the left analog stick to the other side and toward the hoop.

Xbox One & Series X I S

Hold the LT button and continue to back down the defender to see his position and where he is defending you. If you’re backing down and the defender is covering the right side, release the LT button and immediately move the left analog stick to the other side and toward the hoop.

When using the drop step, you will usually step towards the baseline – but you want your defender to think that you could go either direction.
