How to jump dark souls 3

The default sprint button is space so press and hold space button to get a running start then very quickly double (heck triple) tap space. I've been having quite a few issue in getting the jump prompt to work properly (mostly cause I'm still unfamiliar with the button orientation) but rapid pressing space after a running start pulls out a jump for me.

I cannot figure out this damn action/motion. I can parry, dodge/roll decent enough. But I do not know how to jump right. I tried switching the buttons around but that doesn't work neither.

Currently chilling like a villain

You need to sprint in order to jump, there are two control schemes, so I'll explain both of them:

Press O to jump: First, get sprinting by holding O. Then, once up to speed, quickly release, and tap O. I think holding circle the second time will still jump, so if you only want to resume running, you need to let go of O longer.

Press L3 to jump: Again, get sprinting by holding O. Then press L3, click in the left analog stick, and you should jump.

I prefer L3 jumping, but neither are actually very good.

Support for optimism: Nearly everyone I meet is some poor sod who doesn't realize what they've got, and I'm the worst offender.
We all learn when we lose it.

Also, if you let go of analog stick during jumping, you won't roll afterwards, unless you are dropping down, then you can avoid rolling by doing plunging attack.

To jump in Dark Souls while playing on the Xbox 360, start by pointing the left joystick in the direction you want your character to move. As your character is moving, press and hold the “B” button on your controller to make your character run, since you can only jump while your character is running. Once your character starts running, release the “B” button, then quickly tap “B” again to make them jump. If you’re playing on the PlayStation 3, the steps to jump are the same, but you’ll need to press the circle button because the PlayStation 3 controller doesn’t have a “B” button. How To Stop Mid-Jump In DS3

A little trick that not many Dark Souls players or souls like gamers know is that you can actually cut the roll action that occurs after your jump short. While you cannot stop the jump itself, you can stop mid-roll after jumping which comes very handy when traversing the world.

When jumping across tight ledges, rolling afterwards could mean that you fall off the ledge. This would result in you losing thousands of souls that could have been stored.

To stop rolling after jumping in Dark Souls 3, do not hold forward when jumping.

Whilst you need to hold forward to start the jump action, the moment that your character performs a jump, stop pressing forward immediately and your character will stop mid-jump. It takes a little bit of getting used to but thank me later once you have this down!

When To Jump In Dark Souls 3

In Dark Souls 3, you can jump at any stage during the game.

While most of the actions you will be performing does not require jumping, there are a few moments within the game where jumping is essential.

Firstly, at the very start of the game, you will come across a gap at the end of the left path. Without knowing how to jump in Dark Souls 3, there is no other way to get around this gap. If you do not jump across this gap, you will lose health. And, most of the time, when you see a gap, the drop will be far greater than what your hit damage can afford to lose.

Therefore, improving your jumping skills for these moments is critical.

Beyond gaps and essential jumping moments, you will most likely perform the jump action to find additional loot and potentially during combat. However, we would not recommend jumping during combat as dodging or rolling is far more effective in these moments.

Then, there is of course the best Dark Souls 3 Speed Runners to try and keep up with! By mastering how to jump, there are many moments within the game where you can skip across the main route which will save you souls and speed up your gameplay.
