How to use AUX IN Honda Odyssey 2007

I read in a post there is an aux port in the back of the van, I cant find it.

I just purchased this 2007. I cant seem to find the Aux port for my ipod connection near the radio or the back of the van.

Is there such a port? If not, is there a link on how to add one?

It's the RCA port. Go on eBay, and search 'RCA to 3.5mm' and get one of those. Make sure it's long enough.

I think the AUX port is only available if you have the rear entertainment system. It's there to allow you to hook up video games, etc. to the TV. If you have it, there will be a set of RCA input plugs under a flip-up cover on the driver's side in front of the spare tire at the back of the van.

As stated, unless you have the rear entertainment system (RES) then you do not have a AUX port for the ipod in the rear. I have a 05 EXL and was able to add a ipod link just by plugging into the XM radio port in the driver side kick panel. There is currently one listed in the Buy/Sell/Trade section of the forums. Do a search for "Honda iPod Interface i-honda-R4/5V Dice". Not very hard to install.

Yeah, thanks guys, I dont have the RES version. I looked in the rear where the jack sits. There are no cabling there.

I have th Dice unit for my Bimmer. I hate it. I use the controls on the ipod since the controls on the dash dont really work for me.

Now Im looking into this unit below. It is $100 less than the Dice unit. I contacted the seller, he said it should be arriving in stock soon. I tried searching this forum, but no luck on review. I might just change the head unit all together so I just get an AUX port with it rather than purchasing this GTA. Problem with GTA, you are stuck with ipod and when the version changes, your out of luck. With the aux port, I will be able to plug in any ipod or mp3 player and it doesnt matter if the version changes. I will keep you posted.

Yeah, after much research, I'm leaning 75% to ripping out the exsisting stereo and see what I can put in its place at the local shop.

If I replace the stereo
1. I will have an aux port that I can plug any MP3 player into (3.5mm plug)
2. I can use any mp3 player ipod, itouch, etc.
3. I can use a 12V plug with car adapter to charge the unit
4. It will not be specific connection just for ipod/itouch generation version.
5. My family can change songs as they browse through the ipod.
6. I can probably still use the volume controls on my steering wheel (iffy on this one).

Down side
1. I wont be able to use my steering controls to change my music. That is why I use playlist.
2. I will probably pay more for the head unit
3. I will loose my 6 disc cd changer - Big Whoop..I dont use cds.
4. The dash unit may look strange.

I dont have DVD/Rear Entertainment System...no loss there.

i like the install video it's actually pretty good.

i installed a single DIN last week into my '09.

the only thing i would do differently, and did - is to remove the negative battery cable from the battery.

otherwise, pretty spot on instructions.

to OP, you will get better options with an aftermarket headunit.

i bought from crutchfield and they typically will include the replacement radio surround, antenna adapter and wiring kit for free.

This is the one in my 05 and it works great. The only problem is that it is over 3 years old, came out before the iPhone so it will not charge the more current models, it still is able to play music from the newer devices, just not charge. The controls on the iPhone/iPod still function when plugged in.

Now, I'm looking for something similar as this unit, but hoping to find one with ipod connector and 3.5mm connector. The DICE unit is $190. Im hoping to find a unit that has both connectors.

Im finding them in RCA and 3.5mm, but nothing so far with ipod and 3.5mm that is not inflated price as DICE.

arielb1, I don't understand why you just don't play your iPod through the Honda head unit using 3.5mm female on top of the iPod if you purchase the CPHONAUX. iPod's have a pretty good battery and as well you can bring along a 12v iPod battery charger to charge it up when needed.

I too had an overpriced DICE converter, but I went back to an iPod converter so that I could see and control my music through the iPod playing through the Honda head unit. My iPod classic has a very strong battery and I rarely have to charge it while in the Ody.

The GTA has two huge advantages, Sixtn39. Thanks for your help.

1. It will charge the ipod while plugged in for those long trips. I don't have to carry or mess with the 12V. I can use my steering wheel controls.

2. It has the 3.5 aux port I can plug the ipod into as well or other mp3 player. I have no need for the RCA jacks...in fact, I cant think of anything I would plug into the RCA. When new ipods come out, I can always use the 3.5. Meanwhile, I will enjoy the ipod connector since it works with the next gen ipods.

4. Biggest reason... the price and his communication. At $89.99, great price. I did my homework..this is a fantastic price for the functionality it provides. I feel his price will go up once the word gets out. Im sure the price will go up soon. Max replies to emails quickly..within hours.

Below is an email from the seller...Im starting to like this unit. However, until I get my hands on one and do a thorough review, I will have reservations.

I think I need to provide you more details on the functionality, so you can make educated decision to buy or not to buy.
So, once you connect the kit, you can get in iPod or AUX mode by pressing AUX button. Right now this button does nothing on your Odyssey.

So, once in AUX mode (it would display as CD4), there are two sub-modes:

Hybrid (Disk 1) - in this mode you have full control of your iPod and you can see the names of the songs directly on your iPod (and you can see song number and time on the Odyssey console). You also can switch between the songs with the controls on your steering wheel or on your radio.

Playlist mode (Disk 2-99) - in this mode each playlist on your iPod is like a separate CD. You iPod is locked, you cannot see the names of the songs on your iPod. In this mode you can switch between the playlists using DISK buttons, you can switch between the songs using steering wheel or radio controls, you can fast forward, use random button of car radio, etc. In this mode you can also see the playlist number (Disk 2 is Playlist 1, Disk 3 is Playlist 2, etc), song number and time. In this mode our kit support more 9999 songs per playlist.

Unlike Toyota, Honda does not allow to show the song name on its console for outside adapters.

We started selling our kits online only recently, therefore you don't see a lot of reviews. So, I will really appreciate if you can write review once you test our kit.

I understand Max. I will also take a closer look at the GTA. The one thing I don't like are units that require making up playlists. I've had 2 different ones with the 3 different Odys I have owned. Using playlists typically takes away the opportunity to quickly locate a particular song within a playlist. Perhaps the GTA is different.

i-pod/bluetooth for '07 touring

c'mon, really? has no one out there done a 05-07 ipod interface with their OEM headunit? how 'bout bluetooth? Having the touring with navi/dvd i would like to find a DIY adapter that will allow me to use at least the steeringwheel controls for my ipod and at best would like to use the voice activated/ touch screen features of the current OEM system. Is there really no one out there on this forum that has upgraded their ody for this?

Since most oddys in the '05-'10 are essentially the same, is it unthinkable to think a '10 navi/dvd/bluetooth system should be compatible with the '07 wiring harness? any honda service techs out there who can answer this delimma?

sfcusaret - i made the changes my self using the gta (gtacarkits.com) on my 05 EX-L and now i can use:
- mp3 (3.5mm) player with no steering wheel controls
- iPod can use controls on steering wheel or on iPod itself

The video to install on the website is 9mins long - it took me about 20mins to install and
very easy and fast to install
highly recommend

I agreed with Mike. The GTA Car Kit was an easy installation, I just installed yesterday. So far, I am happy with it.

Aux input in the front

I'm new to the forum and new to Odyssey ownership having just bought an 06 Odyssey Touring. I'm very familiar with forums and the expertise that they contain, so I'm hoping that someone here has a solution to my issue.
I'm looking to locate an aux input (not necessarily an iPod or USB input) somewhere on the front console. I've looked all over the van and the only aux type input that I've found are in the second row seat's driver side armrest and these are RCA jacks.

Has anyone added a 1/8" input jack in the front of the vehicle or on the console near the radio?
