I wasn't expecting it to end this way. I mean, it's lovely and sad, but I'm impressed. This manga is not for the faint of heart, since it deals with difficult issues and frequently makes the reader uncomfortable, demonstrating how life may be
depressing and empty while also presenting many sweet or cute moments to soothe the reader's mind. It's something I've said many times before, and it's something I'll say again. I couldn't have asked for a much better way of ending this. I love it so much!! Thanks for the opportunity, Sagura. What an amazing series. Indeed, no man is an island. Afterall, we will
still seek that warm feeling of having someone else's company. To be embraced and feel loved. I remembered Hazel and Gus—and that little infinity, my gosh. Now, I'm crying again! I love it so much. May 18, 2021 Cherie rated it really liked it I started this manga at the behest of a good friend of mine and was pleasantly surprised at the creativity of the ideas behind the narrative and how fast I was swept up in it. Although I didn't quite agree with the narrator's way of living his life (maybe it was just his passivity that bothered me, which is mainly the reason for the missed fifth star in this rating), I was also glad that the story for once featured a narrator who was just an ordinary person in the modern age, struggling to find I started this manga at the behest of a good friend of mine and was pleasantly surprised at the creativity of the ideas behind the narrative and how fast I was swept up in it. One of my favourite things about this manga was the vending machines, as explained later on - a beautiful, quiet detail that brought solace in the story's darker turns - and how the author touched on the idea of a highly skilled person not having confidence in their abilities and thus hindering their output, even when he or she has the potential to be highly prolific. It was a nice way of showing how all of us have talents, whether we are aware of them or not - some are just more hidden than others. ...more

Very bleak, maybe a bit cliché but here is where things get interesting. The main character has an accident at work and is forced to sell some of his books and CD to keep
living and at both stores, the store’s employees tell him that there is a store where you can sell your lifespan in exchange for cash. At first, he thinks it’s complete bullshit but relents and go to the aforementioned store, and everything turned out to be real so he quickly asks how many years he has left and learns that he has 30 more years to live of bleak misery so of course, he sells them … for 300,000 yen. Now, after that, he goes home with an observer, a girl who acts as a person
on guard duty because according to them, people can act destructively in their last few months before death, and cause harm to the people around them. And so the Bucket-List thickens as the main character makes a bucket list to scratch off, which was mostly some little fun things as well as unfinished business in the past and as described, he clings onto the past for some comfort before passing… only to be- Well, I think any more than that would be going into spoiler territory.
Since I don’t got a lot of beef with this manga, let’s go thru it all first. In fact, I find that to be
one of the best points of this series. To describe the little moments of beauty in words is hard but I’m more well versed in music; This story feels like what The song by The Microphones – "The Moon" is, they really go hand in hand. Really the whole album, The Glow Pt. 2 kinda has a very similar vibe to this story, but more so the song "The Moon". There is also this bonus chapter (16.5) where we learn that the old man who advertises the store that sells lifespans thinks that the right choice is keeping your lifespan because there is potential in that, I think that adds another
bit to think about, another point of view. It's a lovely read and one I will remember for a while.
The ending was very fitting of the story & I enjoyed the thought provoking incidents throughout the whole manga

and acceptance, but also it displayed that its never too late to turn your life around. The concept of putting a price on someone's life is an interesting one. The concept of judging someone's life worth based on superficial factors such as fame and wealth is even more so. The protagonist, Kusonuki, started the series as a hopeless soul who needed some quick cash to live. So The concept of putting a price on someone's life is an interesting one. this transaction, he was issued an observer to make sure that he didn't cause any trouble for people around him. Her name was Miyagi and throughout the manga the two formed an incredible romantic bond which eventually lead to them making the decision to die together. Kusonuki quickly discovered that anyone who he had previously cared for despised him, and began building new friendships. He befriended the people of his town by making them believe that Miyagi was actually there, as she was invisible to others. He refused to ever act like she wasn't, and even in public places he would still interact with her and give her attention. Overall, despite what could be considered as a rather morbid ending, I think that this series was a joy and I would recommend it to anyone. ...more
"What if you can sell your lifespan? How much is your life truly worth?" My brother nagged me to read this manga and I trust his review since we have similar preference. And it's only 18
chapters (nothing to lose!! only 2 hours-ish). And yes. His recs never disappoints me. Short but contemplating. Reflective. Great premise, great plot, lovable character. We all know how the ending is, but there is a little twist that makes me smile at the end (I didn't cry tho). My brother nagged me to read this manga and I trust his review since we have

You know when you start reading a book, you're suspicious of it all? Is it worth my time, is this filled with the same cliches? Reading a good book essentially then becomes a dance where the
writer tries to woo you into caring. The duty of a writer is not to write a good story but to make you care about their story. I had heard of this title a lot of times but I put it off and finally read it now. And as I read and I liked this more and more and sunk into the world and understood the characters more, I just felt like man I wish I wasn't so skeptical from the start, I wish I was more giving and I trusted this more. I wished I
could enjoy this story from the first more because there is only one first time. This is a good book, and it's very sweet and filled with ennui and contemplation and lessons about life. Especially the one about fame and money. Especially the fame. It doesn't quite stick the landing but man I loved so much here.

One word describes “I sold my life for ten thousand yen per year” for me, disappointing. I loved the first volume with various themes, complex characters and interesting dialogues. This is a short read that got me thinking, "If I were to die 3 months from now, would I do anything differently?" The main character wondered about this, too, when he, as the title suggests, sold his life for ten
thousand yen per year. It's a pretty bittersweet story, and has certainly made me feel some feelings. However, I'm not really impressed by the introduction of a "best girl" to accompany this main character. It kinda cheapens the whole point about the story and its ending. Overall, the im Overall, the impression I got upon finishing the book was like the one I experienced after finishing Mitch Albom's "The Five People You Meet in Heaven." This manga made me
feel and think, but not deep enough. Still an enjoyable read, though.
(3.5 stars) This is a great story to read on a summer day as it has that sort of solemn, nostalgic vibe; it certainly made me think and the ending surprised me. But personally, 90% of my enjoyment of a story stems from its characters, and since I always felt sort of detached from the two leads - partly due to the short length of the story, partly bc these character archetypes are usually not to my taste - this prevented me from being fully emotionally invested in their relationship. This story was so touching and compelling but really heavy so definitely something you shouldn't read at 1 am. I really loved the development of Kusunoki's and Miyagi's relationship and how important they ended up becoming to each other. Despite the story being only sixteen chapters, I felt it was the perfect length to tell its story. Definitely a hidden gem that I would recommend to anyone! This has been a really really deep manga, and moreover I think that this is the best story that I’ve ever read. The story includes happiness, not just for our self, but also towards the society, and it also includes the tenacity in order to achieve our aims. In addition, I’m into the romantic story between the main characters 🏞️👫💓
Interesting premise with simple art. With some light subversion to manga troupes it doesn’t do much to make it stand out beyond that. Characterization still falls into those stereotypical manga/anime archetypes.

Wholesome bittersweet ending, glad for that. I wonder who the two new? characters in the extra chapter were, interesting dialogue nonetheless.
It is very dark story and has a great lesson and meaning 4/5.
Read all three volumes. Genuinely breathtaking. Adore this.
