We chose here for our Family vacation: We won't be going back 😞 We found the people there extremely rude! Shockingly rude to be a
tourist town! Not a friendly place. It is a pretty place though. The river & park were awesome, the hotel was a bit sketchy. The convenient stores, restaurants, & local tourist spots had complete jerks working! One restaurant, Lost Cajun, cooked our to-go order an hour early & actually called me complaining I hadn't picked up my order yet! Seriously?!? Our $100 order was cold & hard when we arrived at MY DESIGNATED TIME! Seriously everywhere we went we were treated badly! Is
there something in the water? Thank Gosh the Royal Gorge was nice & made the trip worth it, the staff was decent there. C'mon Canon City, be nice to the tourist keeping your businesses alive. I would visit here for the day but wouldn't waste my money on their services.

Not a great place, not a bad place, just a city. Schools are not wonderful, but not terrible. This is not a great place for a young family, as there are not that many job opportunities here. Plan on a commute to Pueblo or Colorado Springs for work. Best thing: events here draw people from all over the state, very cool. Worst
daily thing you'll encounter: the traffic light systems are ridiculously bad. Traffic itself can get nasty because there's only two main roads, beware getting stuck inside the intersections. The road engineering is outdated due to population growth. All things said this is a good place to retire I guess, but only moderately ok for everything else.
Canon City is a small mountain town with so much life. Being a transplant to this town was the best thing that ever happened to be, Canon hold so much of Colorado's history and is one of Colorado's top grossing tourist destination being home of The Royal Gorge Bridge (the worlds highest suspension bridge) and The Royal Gorge Railroad and Train which converts to the Polar Express during Christmas time for all families to enjoy.
