Is Hades in record of Ragnarok?

Past

Gigantomachy

Following the events of the Titanomachy, Zeus inherited the throne from Kronos and became the new Chief God of the Greek Pantheon, despite being the youngest son. Unable to accept that, the Primordial Goddess, Gaia, led the Giants against the Greek Gods. This conflict would be known as the Gigantomachy.

Hades meets with the other Greek Gods to discuss the strategy to be adopted during the Gigantomachy

While the Greek Gods fought against the Giants with all they had, Hades attended a meeting with his brothers, Ares and Hermes. Hermes reported that things weren't looking good and Adamas mockingly asked Zeus what he was going to do, now that he was their Chief God. Both Hades and Poseidon stayed silent. Zeus decided the only thing to do was to pummel the enemy with all their being and headed off for battle. The rest all left through their own exits and Hades sighed after hearing Adamas grumble about Zeus pushing his luck.

As soon as he went through his exit, Hades encountered one of his soldiers and asked what was wrong. The soldier reported to Hades that the Titans, who were subordinates of Kronos, have escaped Tartarus and are planning to invade from Helheim. Poseidon, still around, asked Hades if something was wrong but Hades walked off, assuring his brother he doesn't need to mind.

Hades managed to kill all the Titans by himself

While the rest of his brothers fought against the Giants, Hades went down into Helheim and confronted the Titans alone. He then fought against them all by himself and was forced to use his trump card. Eventually, after many Titans were slain, the rest retreated and Hades was left sitting atop a broken column, whistling while covered in blood.

Soon after, Poseidon arrived and witnessed the bloody scene for himself. Hades assumed Poseidon coming down here means they won the Gigantomachy. Poseidon criticised Hades for being so reckless and going off on his own to face the Titans, leaving his soldiers with them.

Hades insisted that he only did what was right as the elder brother by watching over his brothers' backs. Poseidon brought up that he could've been defeated but Hades said he won't be.

Hades delighted to see Poseidon call him "brother" for the first time

Hades vowed to Poseidon that he will never lose to anyone as the elder brother. Hades then fell back and admitted he may have been a bit too reckless this time around. Scoffing, Poseidon said Hades would hear no thanks from him. He then extended his hand out and called Hades "Brother". That surprised the King of the Netherworld and as he took Poseidon's hand, Hades noted that was the first time Poseidon ever called him his brother.

Adamas' Betrayal

Upset over how Zeus became the ruler of Heaven, Adamas plotted a rebellion. To help, Adamas freed the remaining Titans and Giants and even bent the grisly Typhon to his will. Adamas also enlisted the help of Hermes, who convinced a number of the other 13 Gods of Olympus to defect, along with 49 members of Zeus' council.

To seal Zeus' fate, Adamas visited Poseidon's palace and tried to convince his younger brother to help him. However, Poseidon was only disappointed and cold-heartedly stated that Adamas defiled everything the Gods stood for. An angered Adamas tried to attack Poseidon but Poseidon grievously injured him with just one thrust of his trident. He then threw Adamas' body aside and left.

Hades asks Hermes to bring dying Adamas to Beelzebub to save his life

Having watched the whole ordeal secretly, Hermes would soon contact Hades and inform him on what happened to Adamas. To save Adamas' life, Hades ordered Hermes to take him to Beelzebub, who proceeded to heal Adamas by reconstructing his body into a cyborg. Since Poseidon had Adamas' name erased from history, he continued to live under a different name, Adamantine, in Helheim.

Ragnarok

Sixth Round

Hades reaches the Valhalla Arena for the Sixth Round

After Hajun unexpectedly appeared in the middle of the sixth round, Ares asked Hermes if he was a God. When Hermes claimed even he didn't know, Hades appeared and told them that Hajun was no God. Ares questioned why he was here but Hades told Ares to simply get off of his seat. Sweating, the God of War immediately complied and stood up, allowing Hades to sit down. After remarking on how rare it is to see him come all the way up to Valhalla, Hermes asked Hades why he's here. Hades revealed he heard about Poseidon's death but Zeus interrupted him by saying they don't talk about that around here anymore.

Hades tells the legend of Hajun from the Underworld

Zeus questioned what Hades knew about Hajun and after telling Zeus to calm down, Hades explained to them that Hajun was a legendary berserker spoken of in Helheim since ancient times. He relayed to them a certain legend in Helheim: "At white light and black shadow's blending, the horns of the Netherworld shall awaken and eternal darkness will be born." Otherwise known as the Demon Lord of the Sixth Heaven, Hajun. Since Hajun is related to Helheim, Hermes asked Hades if this was his doing but Hades admitted this was his first time seeing Hajun, even though he's the ruler of Helheim.

Hades began wondering how a meager God like Zerofuku, who came from Valhalla, became the legendary Hajun. During their fight, Hajun began to overwhelm Buddha, to the point where he gouged out his left eye. When Ares expressed disbelief at Hajun's strength, Hades scoffed and said he didn't expect someone like Ares to understand. Hades told them all that Hajun's strength is on a level higher than that of most Gods as he was a genuine monster who was said to have destroyed half of Helheim long ago. Hades then clarified that Hajun left it half destroyed as according to the legends, after wreaking havoc across Helheim, Hajun suddenly vanished and never appeared again. Hades actually thought that Hajun was nothing but a fairy tale by the time he came into rule of Helheim.

Hades, Zeus, Hermes and Ares watch the Sixth Round

When Hermes asked how Hajun could be here now, Hades came to a conclusion: someone must've acquired the detritus of Hajun that was left behind, cultivated it, formed it into something akin to a seed and planted it in Zerofuku. When Ares is at a loss at who did such a thing, Hades said there was only one who possesses that much technical skill and has enough eccentricity to waste energy on something so frivolous.

Hermes realised he was talking about Beelzebub. After getting angry at Hajun for talking about Zerofuku as if he was trash, Buddha ended up summoning a form of the Six Realms Staff which he had never seen before: Fifth Realm: Preta Realm, Holy Kannon – Salakayas. In response to the malice energy Buddha was exuding, Hades predicted he meant to end things with one blow. Buddha then swung his scythe, using Karma-Destroying Samsara Cycle.

Hades insults Ares for not understanding Buddha's strategy against Hajun

When Hajun ended up stabbing Buddha and took on Salakayas with his left arm, Hades was the only one left unsurprised. As they continued their fight, Ares guessed this was it for Buddha but Hades called him a fool, pointing out how Buddha hasn't given up yet. Both Hermes and Zeus agreed, with Zeus assuming Buddha is planning to turn it all around with one more Karma-Destroying Samsara Cycle. In the face of Buddha's unwavering confidence, Hajun instinctively took a step back, causing Hades to call him scared.

Buddha used his attack once more but Hajun responded by pressing his left arm into the shape of a sword and using Blaze of Glory, shattering Buddha's scythe, which left Hades a little surprised. In the final stages of the battle, Buddha performed Völundr with the hilt of Zerofuku's Misery Cleaver, crafting a new Divine Weapon for himself called the Great Nirvana Sword – Zero. With it, Buddha began trading equal blows with Hajun and even injuring him. Ares said he was an unfathomable man and Hermes agreed but noted that it seems Buddha is the one reaching his limit first. When Zeus doubted Buddha would be able to take on another Blaze of Glory, Hades called them all fools and asserted that all Buddha needs to do is dodge Hajun's attack, not take it on. When Hajun seemingly sliced Buddha's head in half, Hades was unfazed as it was revealed it was nothing but an illusion. Lifting up Zero, Buddha used Mahapari Nirvana to slice Hajun up into pieces, which again, did not faze Hades in the slightest. Hajun's body soon disappeared and with the spirits of Zerofuku and the Seven Lucky Gods also passing on, Buddha was declared to be the winner of Round 6, which Hades was unsurprised by.

Seventh Round

Hades decides to replace Buddha as the fighter of the Gods in the Seventh Round to avenge his brother Poseidon

At the end of the sixth round, Hermes showed how, with Buddha's victory for the Humans, the score of the Ragnarok between the Gods and the Humans has been tied up at 3-3. Hermes called it a bitter loss, on top of Buddha's betrayal of them. Zeus asserted they had to win the next round by any means necessary and Hermes asked what he intended to do about Buddha's replacement in the Gods' roster. Zeus said they can't be too careful about who to select since Humanity had proven itself to be strong and Hermes looked over at Ares. Convinced Hermes wanted him to volunteer, Ares attempted to, only for Hades to say he'll fight in the next round for the Gods. Hermes and Ares were surprised and Zeus asked what's gotten into Hades. Standing up, Hades said that was a foolish question with an obvious answer. After taking off his eyepatch and crushing it, Hades proclaimed he would be getting revenge for Poseidon. Later on, before the seventh round started, Hades collected his bident and began walking up to the Gods' entrance into the arena, remarking on how it's been some time since he's had to use his bident.

A servant of Poseidon, Proteus, appeared behind Hades, begging for a moment of his time. Hades asked what he wanted and Proteus presented the remains of Poseidon's trident after his battle with Kojiro Sasaki. Proteus requested that Hades take the last bits of his lord with him to strike down the Humans that killed him. Hades reminded Proteus that Poseidon wouldn't like anyone avenging him before taking the remains of the trident regardless as he said that it was the duty of an older brother to avenge his little brother.

Hades enters the arena for the Seventh Round

Hades then fused the remains of Poseidon's trident with his bident, causing his bident to gain a fin-like protrusion just beneath the spearhead. Telling Poseidon they should go together, Hades walked on and arrived into the arena to face the seventh representative for Humanity, The King Where It All Began, Qin Shi Huang. Immediately after entering the arena, Hades shed his coat. Heimdall declared it would be a battle between two kings to decide who truly stands at the top before starting the fight. Tightly gripping his bident, Hades apologised to Qin Shi Huang as he has no grudge against him before telling Qin Shi Huang to rue the fact that he's a part of the race that killed his brother.

Hades proceeded to unleash a single, all-powerful thrust in an attempt to kill Qin Shi Huang with one blow. Qin Shi Huang narrowly moved his head to the side, his earring being broken as a result. Hades continued to thrust his bident multiple times but Qin Shi Huang carefully dodged each strike. Exerting the muscles in his right arm, Hades jumped up and used Peresphone Kallichoron, jabbing down at Qin Shi Huang. The Emperor initially dodged it but when the bident hit the ground, the force of the attack continued to follow Qin Shi Huang all the way to the stands. The full force hit the stands while Qin Shi Huang's side was grazed by the wind created from the jab, before evolving into a larger wound. Hades then used Persephone Roa, jabbing his bident in a straightforward motion and causing spirals of wind to surround his weapon. But this time, Qin Shi Huang used Chi You – Armor Form: Heavenly Hand of Defense by intercepting with the back of his left hand and absorbing the energy of the bident's thrust before deflecting its strike, much to Hades' surprise.

Hades is shot in the chest by Qin Shi Huang

Qin Shi Huang then held onto the bident and redirected the energy he absorbed into his body back into the bident. Hades attempted to strike with his bident once more, only for Qin Shi Huang to let go of the bident and caused the other end of the bident to push into Hades' chest, sending the God of the Dead flying across the arena. As Hades laid slumped against the stands, Qin Shi Huang triumphantly declared that he is the only king in this world. After getting back up, bleeding from his head, Hades asked Qin Shi Huang what a king means to him. Qin Shi Huang asserted that a king is someone who never doubts, never yields, never relies and always stands as the leader of his people.

Realising his philosophy as a king is very similar to Poseidon's, Hades began to uncharacteristically laugh out loud for a long duration. Qin Shi Huang laughed along with him before asking why he laughed. Hades divulged to Qin Shi Huang how he just reminded him of Poseidon before declaring how, as his older brother, he'll never give into a King of Men. Hades then gripped onto the bit of the polearm near the spearhead and used Peresphone Titan, swinging the bident forward with all his might. As he swang it forward, his grip on the polearm lowered all the way down to the end. Qin Shi Huang initially blocked the attack by crossing his forearms and prepared to use Heavenly Hand of Defense once more, only for Hades to grip the bident with both hands to push Qin Shi Huang down a bit more before also drawing it back. The combined force of the bident being swung down and drawn back was too much for Qin Shi Huang to successfully deflect away. Hades then pushed down so hard, he forced himself into the air and kept the bident pressured down, forcing Qin Shi Huang to be knocked into the ground, causing damage to his head. After Hades flipped over to the other side, Qin Shi Huang got back up, wobbly. Because his blindfold has gotten sticky from the blood on it, Qin Shi Huang took it off.

Hades Qi is hit by Qin Shi Huang

Seeing Qin Shi Huang still smile after taking his attack, Hades said that he expected nothing less from a king and charged in, unleashing a flurry of thrusts that grazed Qin Shi Huang's right cheek and chest. Qin Shi Huang began parrying these strikes with his hands, prompting Hades to use a more powerful jab that grazed Qin Shi Huang's side. Hades then questioned if he'll be able to take this again and used Peresphone Titan, pushing Qin Shi Huang down with both his hands on the bident.

Unbeknownst to Hades, Qin Shi Huang, with his eyes, was able to see the cruxes in the flow of Hades' Qi, in the form of stars. Looking at the largest star on Hades' left arm, Qin Shi Huang used Chi You – Crossbow Form: Tortoise Ripple and fired a small mass of air from his mouth. It hit the crux on Hades' left arm, causing his grip to loosen, which then caused there to be less force pushing Qin Shi Huang down, much to Hades' confusion. Now clenching the bident by the spearhead, Qin Shi Huang lifted Hades up and utilised Heavenly Hand of Defense, crushing Hades into the ground behind him by letting the bident's polearm embed itself across Hades' chest. As dust spread around Hades, Qin Shi Huang charged in to try and stab Hades with the zhijiatao on his right hand when Hades striked from out of the smoke. Qin Shi Huang jumped into the air and span around, landing behind Hades. Huffing, Hades began to wonder how Qin Shi Huang was able to redirect his attack. After identifying a crux on Hades' chest, Qin Shi Huang received the same damage as Hades, which is a drawback of his eyes.

Hades is hit by Qin Shi Huang's Chi You - Spear Form: Mount Tai Dragon Claw

After recovering, Qin Shi Huang prepared to attack Hades with his right hand again. Seeing him charge in, Hades called head-on attacks his domain of combat and proceeded to do the same. Qin Shi Huang fired Tortoise Ripple once more, hitting the crux in the right side of Hades' chest. Hades finally realised what Qin Shi Huang has been doing but is too late as he already jabs his bident forward, but with much less force, allowing Qin Shi Huang to dodge by ducking. Now close, Qin Shi Huang used Chi You – Spear Form: Mount Tai Dragon Claw and stabbed Hades in the stomach with his zhijiatao. After Hades flew back, he gripped onto his new wound and pointed out that Qin Shi Huang's Tortoise Ripple lets him fire his breath at the crux of his power to upset the flow of his technique. He admitted it's an impressive feat for a puff of air and Qin Shi Huang decided to reveal to Hades that he can see his stars.

Qin Shi Huang suddenly winced in pain and Hades asked what's wrong. As the wound he dealt to Hades appears on his stomach too, Qin Shi Huang complains about the pain and says this is why he really didn't want to use his eyes. As Hades looked on, a smiling Qin Shi Huang pointed to his head and remarked about how the pain hurts. Hades realises he can feel the pain of others and calls it an unfortunate blight. Qin Shi Huang disagrees and asserts that, because he can feel the pain of others, he is the greatest king.

Hades counters Qin Shi Huang's spheres of Qin by waving the bident

Hades questioned if Qin Shi Huang was really calling himself the greatest king in front of him. Qin Shi Huang admitted Hades was strong but could not lose to anyone, in order to fulfill his promise. Looking at the amount of blood that's spilled from his stomach wound, Hades acknowledged Qin Shi Huang was strong and that he had a promise to never lose. However, Hades then brought up how he had his own vow to keep. He then began running forward and Qin Shi Huang responded by firing Tortoise Ripple. Hades decided to spin his bident around himself, like a windmill, and dispersed the air bullet without even being able to see it, much to Qin Shi Huang's surprise.

Hades then thrust his bident forward and Qin Shi Huang blocked the weapon with his left forearm. Digging his feet into the ground, Hades pushed Qin Shi Huang down before using Cornucopia, straightening his left leg and bringing up his right knee, all while leaning back.

Hades with his left arm nearly broken due to Qin Shi Huang's White Tiger - Crescent Moon

Qin Shi Huang managed to just about block Hades' knee with his right hand but was still blown back. Gripping onto his bident with both hands, Hades then swung to try and kill Qin Shi Huang but the Emperor took advantage of Hades being midway through an attack to fire Tortoise Ripple again and hit Hades' left shoulder, causing Hades' attack to be completely swerved away.

Now that Hades was open, Qin Shi Huang lifted up his right leg and unleashed Chi You – Halberd Form: White Tiger Crescent Moon, swinging his right leg in a crescent arc. Hades held back the attack by blocking it with his left forearm but the King of Men's attack proved to be stronger, knocking Hades back. Hades looked at his left arm and saw that Qin Shi Huang tore through his skin. After making sure he can still move his left hand, Hades admitted to Qin Shi Huang that he didn't expect a Human to be so strong. Smiling, Hades called Qin Shi Huang magnificent and Qin Shi Huang answered with "Hăo!"

Hades wounds himself in the chest in order to damage Qin Shi Huang

After reacknowledging Qin Shi Huang, Hades decided to answer as King of the Netherworld. Lifting up his bident, Hades then proceeded to drag the fin protrusion of his weapon across his chest, ripping his shirt in the process. As Qin Shi Huang felt his pain, Hades looked up at the sky and began whistling. With the blood collected on his left hand, Hades used it to then slick his hair back. Qin Shi Huang wondered why Hades would inflict so much damage onto himself.

Hades proceeded to charge in and Qin Shi Huang fired Tortoise Ripple, aiming it at a Qi crux on the right side of Hades' chest. However, the air bullet has to touch the blood on top of Hades' chest first. Thanks to that, Hades could see where the air bullet was being aimed.

Before the air bullet could go through the blood, Hades quickly leaned backwards and caused his Qi crux to shift downwards, negating the effect of the air bullet. As Qin Shi Huang stood still from shock, Hades acted as if he was going to thrust his bident forward, only to change it into a swinging motion midway.

Hades transforms his bident into the Ichor: Desmos

Qin Shi Huang managed to sidestep the attack, which broke a portion of the ground and created a large amount of wind. Hades pointed out that now that he has a way to counter Qin Shi Huang's air bullets, he no longer poses a threat. Hades then noticed that his bident was completely soaked and dripping with his blood. Noting it was finally complete, Hades ordered his bident to "Assemble" and a strong wind began to gather around his weapon. Hades' blood, known as "Pluto Ichor", is a special substance. Any Divine Weapon that it is spilled on harbors Hades' life force and becomes stronger as a result. The prongs of Hades' bident crystallised and extended out into five prongs.

It then replicated even more and reformed into Ichor: Desmos, which consisted of two sharp prongs with a long blade running through the middle and they all converged into a bloodstained tip. Hades warned Qin Shi Huang that this was his trump card and as he held his spear back, Hades told Desmos to tear his opponent's flesh. Hades proceeded to go forward and use Ichor: Eos. Intercepting the attack with the back of his left hand, Qin Shi Huang attempted to redirect the attack with Heavenly Hand of Defense but the force of Hades' attack was so great, that it broke through the armor on Qin Shi Huang's left hand.

Hades amputates two fingers of Qin Shi Huang's left hand and destroys his left shoulder with the Ichor: Eos

After cutting off Qin Shi Huang's ring and pinky fingers, Hades continued moving forward and gouged out Qin Shi Huang's left shoulder, breaking through a significant portion of the Almighty Spaulders as well. As Qin Shi Huang got blown back, Hades asserted he wasn't going to lose since he was the eldest brother. As the Gods all cheered for Hades, he pointed Desmos at Qin Shi Huang and told his opponent to be proud that he drove him so far that he had to use his trump card.

After Alvitr decided to give all her power to Qin Shi Huang, the Emperor renewed the left sleeve of his Almighty Spaulders into the Shi Huang Goujian Sword. Holding his new weapon back, Qin Shi Huang declared he was a king among kings and said that a king's only pride was in protecting his people. In response, Hades said that was excellent of the lofty king and held Desmos back, commenting on how he would like to tear that heart of Qin Shi Huang's. In that moment, both kings understood each other's minds and they could both tell the end of the match was near. Hades made the first move with Ichor: Eos.

Hades cuts off Qin Shi Huang's left arm

Qin Shi Huang attempted to counter with a slash known as Chi You – Sword Form: Shi Huang Yan Cut. When the two attacks met, Ichor: Eos proved to be stronger and Hades knocked the Goujian Sword back. He continued moving forward and Qin Shi Huang just about leaned to the right, in time for Hades to cut off his left arm and blow him back. As Qin Shi Huang laid on the ground, Hades was left huffing. Having saw a way to beat Hades, Qin Shi Huang got back up and repeated what a king was, adding that a king would never surrender.

That impressed Hades, who gave Qin Shi Huang a smile. Holding Desmos back, Hades admitted he was proud to have fought Qin Shi Huang. The two stood off for a few seconds before Hades made the first move and used Ichor: Eos once more, filling it with all the Ichor he could give. Qin Shi Huang clashed the tip of his Goujian Sword against Desmos and used Heavenly Hand of Defense through his blade. Hades was impressed yet again and dug his foot forward, pushing against Qin Shi Huang's weapon. Just as it looked like Hades was about to emerge victorious, Qin Shi Huang fired Tortoise Ripple at a Qi crux that had formed near the tip of Desmos.

Hades is killed by Qin Shi Huang

Hades could feel Desmos weakening and Qin Shi Huang began to redirect the force of Desmos against itself. Seeing the Goujian Sword start to pierce into his weapon, Hades tried to give Desmos even more blood but it was too late as Qin Shi Huang used Chi You – Sword-Armor Form: Shi Huang Guard and Yan Cut to break Desmos and stab Hades through the chest. As Qin Shi Huang huffed, Hades said he was magnificent once more. With the remains of his bident's polearm in his hand, Hades tried to make one last attack but Qin Shi Huang cut him off by slashing through his heart and out of his left shoulder.

With blood bursting out of his body, Hades said he expected nothing less from a king. As he fell back, Hades saw the distressed faces of both Zeus and Adamas. Thinking of Poseidon and the time where he vowed not to lose to anyone, Hades inwardly apologised to his younger brothers for not being able to keep his vow. Having fallen on the ground, as the last bits of his weapon crumble away, Hades asked his younger brothers to forgive him for failing as an elder brother. Hades was then sent to Niflhel and crumbled away into dust.
