For those that live in the Houston area, how many months out of the year do you consider it warm enough to go swimming, even if in a heated pool? Looking at the average temperatures and being from the northeast, Where we wear shorts if it's above 60 degrees, I am thinking 8 months, but since you guys live down there and are aclimated to the weather/temperature, how many months do you think swimming can be done?

If you have a heated pool, probably all year. Otherwise, 8 mos. is a good estimate.

Agree with 8 months. We've started using our un-heated pool in early March most years, through to early November (water temperatures in mid-70s at the extremes). For most of the season, our water temperature is > 85 F, low to mid 90s for June-September (almost too hot at times).

If heated, then year-round swimming is a certainty. The air temperature rarely gets that cool that you couldn't swim in a heated pool -- think of the people in the northern climates who use their hot tubs even when they have sub-freezing temperatures!
