What to Bring Into Red Rocks

Your Ticket:  Make sure you have your concert tickets, and then make sure your friends have their tickets.  And then double-check for your ticket again.  Keep them in a safe, DRY spot. (Wet tickets are worthless if they can’t be scanned!)

Water:  You can bring non-alcoholic sealed beverages into Red Rocks, so bring water. If you are with a large group, consider carrying a few gallons of water to keep everyone hydrated.  Empty camelbacks and reusable water containers are also allowed. However, don’t bring something you don’t want to lose. You may set your water bottle down and never see it again once the lights go down.

Snacks:  It’s wise to pack a sandwich or something substantial to eat in the show – especially if you get in early to see the opening bands (which you should).  Plus, food inside is pretty pricey, and you could waste a lot of time standing in line.  (Red Rocks does NOT allow whole fruits – so slice up that apple before heading in!)

Rain Jacket:  It seems like Red Rocks Amphitheatre has its own eco-system, and you can never trust the weather forecast. Whether it says it or not, always plan on the chance of rain.  Also, don’t bring your favorite rain jacket. They are probably one of the most commonly lost items at Red Rocks.  (Red Rocks does NOT allow umbrellas.)

Long-sleeved shirt or hoodie:  Once the sun goes down behind those rocks, the temperature can drop significantly.  You’ll want a long-sleeved layer, even if it’s just for the walk out.

Cash:  It’s way easier to grab a beer from the vendors walking right by your seat than to have to stand in line, so bring cash!

Blanket:  If you are with a large group, you’ll want to head in early and mark off your space with a blanket or sheet. Technically, you cannot save seats for friends – so make sure you have a good-sized group with you. (Red Rocks does NOT allow tarps.)

    • Venue & Seating Questions

      • How early should I get to Red Rocks for a general admission concert?

One of the most beautiful outdoor venues in the United States, Red Rocks is known for its beautiful surroundings, unique acoustics and alternative music. The venue itself is 70 rows of head-on seating that elevate away from the stage. At its widest point, more than 150 guests can fit in a single row. In all, Red Rocks holds nearly 10,000 guests.

For guests attending a show at the Amphitheater, it's important to understand the seating layout for your show and plan accordingly. Most shows include some type of general admission seating, and if you have a GA ticket, you may want to arrive early to score the best seats.

        Common Seating Layouts

        • Reserved (all rows)

        • General Admission (all rows)

        • Rows 1-2, 20-48 Reserved

        • Rows 1-47 Reserved

        • Rows 25-60 Reserved

If you have a general admission ticket and prefer to be as close to the stage as possible, we recommend arriving to the venue 2-3 hours before doors open. Doors open for most shows one hour before the show is set to begin, but a general admission line will begin forming well before that time - especially for the most popular concerts.

      • How many rows in each section at Red Rocks Amphitheatre?

Each section has a varying amount of rows and seats. Find a section to see row and/or seat numbers.

How do I get a good seat at Red Rocks?

Rows 30-40ish provide amazing views and sound. The speakers hang from the stage setup so being right down low and close isn't always the best, the sound is going over your head for the most part.

How early should you get to Red Rocks for a concert?

If you want to park in the favored Upper North lot, with the easiest access to the venue, lively pre-show parties, and new restrooms, plan on arriving by 5 p.m. The later you arrive, the farther you'll be from the venue, which means the closer you'll be to the exit.
