Is there a big difference between the GTX and RTX other that ray tracing?

Like i mean is 1650super do better that the 2070super?

I care for more fps than quality so that mean i wont usually turn on Ray tracing on RTX. In that case, is the GTX series better for me? You know like the 1650ti

The RTX cards are much better than the GTX cards of the same generation, that being the 1650 and 1660 cards. When comparing to the GTX 1000 series cards its a little different. Of the two you mention the 2070 super will blow the 1650 super out of the water, run laps around it, then take its lunch money in general gaming performance. Even without Ray tracing factored in at all.

There is a MASSIVE difference between the 1650 super and the 2070 super. There’s a reason one costs $400 more than the other, and the majority of that reason has nothing to do with ray tracing. Ray tracing isn’t the only thing the rtx series does that the gtx series doesn’t. I know nvidias dumb naming scheme makes it confusing. Think of the RTX series as the higher end cards with the GTX series as the lower end, more budget friendly cards. RTX cards will perform better than the gtx cards in every way. The rtx cards come with additional features like ray tracing, but most games don’t even support it yet, so it’s kind of a moot point. They’re essentially just better performing cards.

Okay before you make a big mistake, the more you pay for your GPU, the more FPS you’ll get. That’s basically true across the board. And typically those cards have higher numbers as their model name. Don’t compare across brands or generations for numbers, but the 2080 > 2070 > 2060 > 1660 > 1650

RTX is the name for their higher end cards. Anything above the 2060 has ray tracing as a feature. It’s just a high end feature to tempt people into buying the more expensive cards. Someone who might be satisfied with the performance of the 1660 super might consider the 2060 due to ray tracing.

Just going to point out that that hierarchy doesn't hold across all games. For example in general the gtx 1080ti and the rtx 2080 are usually very similar in performance, but in this chart the 1080ti is below the rtx 2060 super.

RTX cards are all better than the gtx 1600 series cards whether or not you utilize raytracing. 2070 super is around 2-2.5x a 1650 super for instance

The rtx cards will always give you more frames like the rtx 2060 is similar to the Gtx 1660 but the 2060 is more powerful, now if you turn rtx on your frames will suffer a lot but an rtx card does not have to have rtx on

All seriousness though, you're kinda right but missing some details. GTX cards are still made, the 16 series cards for example are GTX cards because they lack Tensor cores.

Also Radeon cards, implied by my joke, don't have RTX but there own take on Ray-Tracing and tensor cores.
