KATY, TX [May 7, 2022] – Unofficial voting results for the May 2022 Katy ISD Board of Trustees Election are as follows:

  • Donald Thomas “Duke” Keller 

Unofficial Voting Total: 2,698 votes (24.22%) 

  • Saki Krishnamurthy 

Unofficial Voting Total: 161 votes (1.45%) 

  • Dr. Elizabeth “Eliz” Markowitz 

Unofficial Voting Total: 2,056 votes (18.46%) 

  • Victor Manuel Perez 

Unofficial Voting Total: 5,718 votes (51.33%) 

  • Cicely Finley Taylor 

Unofficial Voting Total: 506 votes (4.54%) 

Position 2 Candidates: (listed alphabetically) 

  • Bonnie Ruth Anderson 

Unofficial Voting Total: 4,093 votes (37.70%) 

  • Patricia Showalter Haggard 

Unofficial Voting Total: 2,300 votes (21.19%)

  • Lance Eugene Redmon 

Unofficial Voting Total: 4,463 votes (41.11%)

Katy ISD trustees are the governing body of the school district and are the main advising group that oversees and shapes policies. Individuals serving as board members are not employees of Katy ISD, yet they dedicate countless hours to leading an A+ school district.

After a crowded eight-person race for two seats newcomer Victor Perez and incumbent Lance Redmon are the projected winners of Katy ISD Board of Trustees seats 1 and 2.

Lance Redmon and Victor Perez have won their Katy ISD Board of Trustees Positions.

2 Positions Elected Today for 7 Seat School Board

The Katy ISD Board of Trustees are made up by seven seats, all elected to serve the Katy ISD community of students, staff, and community members who pay taxes to the District. Katy ISD has 90,000 students and is the fifth largest public-school district in Texas and the fastest growing.

Katy ISD projected the winners just before 10:00 p.m. on Election Day, May 7, 2022 by releasing their unofficial results.

Position 1

Victor Perez proved victorious for Position 1 against Donald “Duke” Keller Jr., Cecily Taylor, Elizabeth “Eliz” Markowitz and Saki Krishmamurthy. He is projected to win with 5,718 votes.

Perez recently retired from a career as a public company CFO in the energy industry and former commercial banker. He and his wife of 47 years have three children who have graduated from Katy ISD. They currently have eight grandchildren in the school district.

Position 2

Incumbent Lance Redmon won Position 2 against Bonnie Anderson and Patricia Haggard. He is projected to win with 4,463 votes.

Redmon was first elected to the Katy ISD School Board in May 2019. He is a graduate of Katy High School. He has lived in Katy with his wife for 37 years and currently has three children attending Katy ISD schools.

Each position is a three-year term and will start at the next scheduled board meeting when they are sworn into office.

Current Katy ISD Board of Trustees include: Greg Schulte- President, Lance Redmon- Vice President, Duke Keller- Secretary, Dawn Champagne- Member, Rebecca Fox- Member, Leah Wilson- Member, and Ashley Vann- Member.
