Legal drinking age in bahamas cruise

Guests are not allowed to bring beer or hard liquor onboard for consumption or any other use. Alcoholic beverages seized on embarkation day will not be returned. Security may inspect containers (water bottles, soda bottles, mouthwash, luggage etc.) and will dispose of containers holding alcohol. Guests who violate any alcohol policies, (over consume, provide alcohol to people under the legal drinking age, demonstrate irresponsible behavior, or attempt to conceal alcoholic items at security and or luggage check points or any other time), may be disembarked or not allowed to board, at their own expense, in accordance with Royal Caribbean International Guest Conduct Policy. Guests who are under the permitted drinking age will not have alcohol returned to them. Please Note: All guests must comply with TSA guidelines for transporting liquids.

On boarding day, guests may bring onboard two (2) 750 ml bottles of personal wine or champagne per stateroom in their carry-on luggage. If more than two bottles of wine or champagne are brought onboard, including any alcoholic beverages purchased in ports-of-call or in their onboard shops, they will be stored by the ship and delivered to your stateroom on your last day onboard.

Guests on consecutive cruises may bring two (2) 750 ml bottles of personal wine or champagne per voyage, per stateroom. Additional bottles will be stored by the ship and two bottles at a time will be delivered to the stateroom on the first day of each new voyage. Guests bringing more than two bottles at the start of the first sailing should have documentation for any consecutive sailings available to share with security on boarding day.

What is the legal drinking age onboard a Royal Caribbean cruise ship?

Effective immediatly on all sailings, the minimum drinking age for all alcoholic beverages on all Royal Caribbean International is as follows:

  • The minimum age to consume alcohol on Royal Caribbean International ships on sailings originating from North America or the Caribbean is twenty-one (21).
  • The minimum age to consume alcohol on Royal Caribbean International ships on sailings originating in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is twenty-one (21).
  • The minimum age to consume alcohol on Royal Caribbean International ships on sailings from South America, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand is eighteen (18).
  • The minimum age to consume alcohol at all private destinations remains twenty-one (21) without regard to where the sailing originated.

What will the drinking age be for the Ultimate World Cruise and the four Ultimate Cruise segments?

Twenty-one is the minimum drinking age onboard sailings departing from the United States, Canada or the United Arab Emirates. On sailings departing from the Caribbean, South America, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand, it is 18 unless the home port's legal drinking age is higher than 18, in which case the higher age applies. This applies to possession of alcohol as well.

Royal Caribbean International retains the right, on rare occasions, to raise the minimum age of alcohol consumption on any sailing when local laws require or permit such a modification.

Alcohol Policies are subject to change by the cruise line. For the most current Royal Caribbean International Alcohol Policy, please refer to the Royal Caribbean International website.

The vast majority of arrests, accidents, and violent crimes suffered by U.S. citizens in The Bahamas involve alcohol. (Note: the legal age for the consumption of alcoholic beverages is 18.) Visitors found alone or incapacitated by alcohol have been victims of rape, robbery, and assault. If you choose to drink, know your drinking companions and stay in a group with friends when in clubs, bars, out walking in deserted areas, or in a taxi at night.

Drugs: Not Legal Here Either

The possession or use of drugs is ILLEGAL in The Bahamas and carries stiff penalties, including heavy fines or imprisonment. Americans visiting The Bahamas are subject to Bahamian law: drug violators can and will be arrested, even for possession of small quantities. All persons 16 years of age or older are tried as adults. Stay away from drug traffickers, who are often armed and violent. Also, do not accept packages from people you meet during your stay.

It's definitely 18 and I know of 16-17 year olds who have partied in Nassau clubs because they don't necessarily check ID's.
