Our advice: From our own experience, we recommend SanDisk memory cards. The SanDisk Extreme Pro is fast enough for high-speed image sequences and 4K video:

The 64 GB Extreme will take up to 90 minutes of super high-res 4K video. For Full HD video we recommend the SanDisk Ultra.

The D-Lux 7 features a Four Thirds sized sensor, while the X100V uses a APS-C sensor.

This infographic highlights the sensor areas of both models compared to other common sensor formats:

Note: 1-Euro coin for scale; the coin at 23.25mm diameter is slightly smaller than a US quarter.

Featuring an area of 368mm² (0.59 sq.in.), the X100V's sensor is somewhat larger that the chip that the D-Lux 7 employs at 225mm² (0.36 sq.in.). A larger sensor can produce images of interiors or at night that have less noise and better contrast than photos shot with Four Thirds sized chips.

Advantage: Fujifilm X100V

The D-Lux 7 uses an electronic viewfinder with a resolution of 2.76 megapixel. The magnifcation is c. 0.70x.

The X100V features an electronic viefinder with a resolution of 3.67 Megapixel and a magnification of around 0.52x.

This infographic illustrates the viewfinder magnifications of both cameras. The black area represents a magnification of 1x, corresponding to natural size; indicated in red is a magnification of 0.85x, the highest value in a any camera on the market today.

X100V (0.52x)

Note: Differences in the image area are the result of different image ratios, 3:2 or 4:3. That can make it difficult to compare the viewfinder magnification of both cameras. However, with these two cameras the difference is considerable in any case.

Additional pros for the Fujifilm are the built-in flash, that the display has a higher resolution and the articulated display. A recommendation of the X100V is made easy by the connector for an external microphone, that the battery has more stamina and the support for USB 3.0. HArdly a luxury, given today's image size and the requirements of 4K video.
