Hello. Im thinking of buying m.2 ssd. I have asus maximus vii hero motherboard and it has an m.2 slot. So I just wanted to ask does this motherboard support all gen 3 ssd. Im specifically thinking of buying samsung 970 pro or samsung 980. Will this motherboard support both of these. Also if you can suggest good ssds that would great...THANKS...

I want to use it for operating system. Im using windows 10. Right now i have samsung 850 evo(windows) and wd blue 1 tb NVMe support on the Z97 era boards was spotty.

Does Maximus VIII hero support NVME?Asus Maximus VIII Extreme supports NVME and SATA M. 2 drives. You can check QVL list of supported devices.
