I spend my days creating intricate nature based illustrations for my colouring books and other exciting projects from my studio by the sea in a little corner of West Wales. Growing up on a small holding in the hills of rural Wales, as a child I was surrounded by nature in all its glorious forms. It was during these early years that I developed an obsession with all things flora and fauna and later went on to study Wildlife Illustration. My passion for wildlife, a love of decorative design and a keen eye for detail are at the core of my work. All my illustrations begin life as hand drawn images, first as a pencil sketch and then as a detailed ink drawing, occasionally images are turned into a repeat pattern using digital media. Above all else my intention is simply to create beautiful work, which both celebrates and raises awareness of our incredible natural world. I've bought a *few* adult colouring books... ok a lot :) Most disappoint and end up tossed after a while, the irritations become too great, poor quality paper is the biggest problem like thin paper, and scratchy paper that hinders the pencil, rivers of bleed if I happen to use a pen, images printed too close to the spine making it difficult to colour to the edge, images spread over 2 pages that spine problem again but x2. Millie's books have already come out on top for me in their paperback editions. These hardbacks are a stroke of genius as far as I'm concerned an artist that finally cares about the experience the customer has with her work - most seem to jump on the lets get into the colouring craze not thinking or caring about basic relationship between paper and medium. Images that cover 2 pages fold out simple but so effective.
