TRIED AND FAILED

Force restart or reboot:
a) Press and hold the Power button for 7 – 10 seconds
b) Press and hold the Power Button for a full 120 seconds while connected to a charger.

Factory reset

a) Use "volume down" to try options. I finally had to try "recovery" > Android on its back > try the "volume down" and ower buttons again till you get another menu

b) Pick factory reset, and deleted data (then option to reboot. Tried. NO RESULTS. Kept making sound as if twas trying to restart, but stopped each time.

SIM card replacement

It has been suggested on some websites that a faulty SIM card could be the cause of the problem. Actually, that was not the issue in this case.

THIS IS WHAT I GET WHEN I TRY TO RESTART:
AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S)
41.10 (SHA-990XXXXX)
CPU MSM8226 CS
eMMC: 16 GB Sandisk RV=06 pv = 07 ty =17
DRAM: 1024MB Hynix S4 SDRAM DI=4GB
Battery OK
Device is LOCKED, Status Code: 0
Connect USB Data Cable

THIS DID NOT WORK

This is our recommendation as well.

  1. Plug it into the charger
  2. Hold the VOL DOWN key
  3. While still holding the VOL DOWN key, press and hold the POWER key
  4. Hold both keys down for over 120 seconds.  This is more than two minutes and will seem like a long time. You might want to time yourself to make sure you hold it longer than two minutes.
  5. After holding the keys down for more than two minutes, release them.
  6. The Flash Boot screen will display, and the Normal Reboot option will be highlighted
  7. Press the VOL UP key and the device will start a normal reboot.

We're working to eliminate this issue in a future update.

UPDATE:

If you have tried the above and it didn't work, try this:

  • Plug in the phone for 15 minutes.
  • Proceed to Step 2 above.

Thanks.

Hi @deejackson ,

Which Volume button are you pressing?

You need to press the Volume Down + Power keys (both together) to get into the Recovery mode.

Also if the phone has a Google Account you will need to know the User ID and password for the account to access the phone after it has been reset. This is because the FRP lock (factory reset protection) is enabled when resetting. Apologies if you knew this already.
