Movies like Dazed and Confused Reddit

The thing I loved about Dazed and Confused was that it was like a slice of time in high school. I liked the "last day of school, let's party" vibe and the realistic view of high schoolers. Also, the characters seem like cliches, but none of them are solely a "nerd" or a "jock", but realistically just a person. I know this film is pretty unique, but are there any other films that capture this?

I also watched Remember the Daze, and despite its slightly cringe-worthy acting, and stereotypes, I enjoyed it because it captured that feeling of "living for the moment" when you are high school age.

I'm looking for movies that have a similar plot to the 1993 classic Dazed In Confused, basically I'm looking for movies where high school kids/teenagers do stupid/fun shit like get stoned, get wasted and get themselves into trouble, oh and if Dazed And Confused has a sequel please let me know, thanks

While I 100% believe Superbad was conceptualized and possibly even pitched as a modern day Dazed and Confused, I think the movies are pretty different from a narrative perspective.

In Superbad we really only follow the three friends and their antics through the night, so when they get to the party they’re the only ones we particularly care about. Dazed does a great job balancing a number of characters and we care about like 10-15 people when we get to the party.

Both great movies tho.

Everybody Wants Some! is another Linklater flick with a very similar premise and it’s fun as hell.

I almost like this one more, it's just so consistently hilarious and entertaining. Dazed is definitely a better film, but if I had to just randomly throw one on I'm usually going with Everybody Wants Some! Even for Wyatt Russell alone, you have to check it out.

Yep! Definitely Dazed & Confused's edgier little brother. While D&C is certainly far more polished, I think The Stoned Age is funnier.

50s: The Last Picture Show (1971)

60s: American Graffiti (1973)

70s: Dazed and Confused (1993)

These films have a lot of similarities. Most take place over 1-2 days (usually the last day of school/summer or the night before graduation). They all show case a different era of american high school life. Most are stacked with a lot of young soon-to-be Hollywood superstars. Most have a large party where all the different characters interact. And most have many different main characters from various high school "cliques" (jocks, nerds, etc) who all question what are they going to do with their lives now that high school is over.
