Operation Clean Up Schedule 2022 july

#Operation Clean Up is on 22 April 2022

Did you hear about our pilot Operation Clean Up in 2021? We discovered that across 7 different hospitals some used up to 96,000 blueys per year! A couple of hospitals were able to show that they can prevent waste by reducing their bluey use by more than 10,000 blueys! Imagine what we can achieve together?

How about delivering an Operation Clean Up event in your hospital on April 22nd 2022? ANYONE CAN!

By signing up you are expressing interest in undertaking Operation Clean Up. You can opt out at any time and are not obliged to participate in Operation Clean Up further (but we’d like you to!). TRA2SH will email a post-Operation Clean Up survey which takes <5 minutes to complete. The survey is optional but we appreciate your help in making Operation Clean Up better each year!

  • Anyone can undertake Operation Clean Up but we think trainees are well placed to lead environmental changes. If you’re a Consultant why not sign up and recruit some juniors?

You will receive our info pack with journal articles, posters, presentations and infographics related to the bundle challenge.

There are no obligations if you sign-up but you will receive our updates on Operation Clean Up 2022

  • Our info pack has plenty of information but it comes down to:

    -Engaging with your theatre team

-Identifying a potential intervention (see our bundle below)

-Finding information (see our procurement surveys)

-Feeding back to your department (presenting at a department meeting)

-Advocating by presenting a peer-reviewed article to your department

    -Leading by example

  • Take on our 4 bundle challenge! Our 4 Operation Clean Up data entry surveys are designed to be quick, simple and achievable whilst valuable. Do all 4 surveys yourself or recruit others to help.

Collaborative projects help us to gain a better understanding of practices “on the ground” and facilitate strategies to create cleaner, greener and leaner operating theatres that deliver excellent patient care. Even if the topic is not immediately relevant to your department, your participation allows for comparisons across the board.

In the procurement surveys, you will be credited as a TRA2SH collaborator in publications related to the data you have provided.

If you can provide data before 15th April, we can provide a report, showing your department’s “performance” against other anonymised participating hospitals, in time for Operation Clean Up on 22nd April 2022.

  • This can be a sustainability improvement project in its own right, or you can work with your scholar role tutor to create an audit project or present a peer-reviewed article to your department.

  • Please fill in the post event survey to allow us to improve future OCU’s.

Collecting and using data.

Collecting data for Operation Clean Up is critical as you need to use that data to educate your department, nurses, surgeons and technicians/PSAs. Listen to TRA2SH member Dr Rose Cameron about what she did, who she spoke to and how she went about finding the right information.
