I have been watching Yellowstone since it was released in 2018. Along with it, I have been enjoying Bel-Air, Dr. Death, and other shows on Peacock that are extremely entertaining.

Last weekend, I sat to watch an old episode of Yellowstone when suddenly, the Peacock app on my Samsung TV stopped working. I had been waiting the entire week to watch the Yellowstone rerun.

It was quite disheartening. However, instead of moping about what had happened, I decided to do some research to find out what had happened and what were the possible fixes.

Although it took me hours, I finally landed on a solution that worked for me. To help save you the hassle, I have listed what worked for me in this article.

Peacock not working on Samsung is a classic case of an intermittent issue. To fix the issue, clear the app cache and disconnect the VPN. If this does not work, try logging into the account using a web browser.

Check Whether Peacock Is Compatible With The Samsung Tv

Only Samsung smart TVs manufactured in 2017 or after, powered by Samsung’s Tizen operating system, are compatible with the Peacock app.

If your television was manufactured a year before 2017, your true choices are limited to either purchasing a new television or a streaming stick.

Clear the Peacock App Cache

Samsung TVs allow you to erase an app’s cache instead of reinstalling it.

This is the equivalent of deleting cookies from your web browser and often fixing sporadic app bugs.

To do this, follow these steps:

  • To access the smart hub, press the Home button on the remote control for your Samsung TV.
  • In the menu of the smart hub, choose Settings.
  • Choose the Apps tab.
  • Click System Apps.
  • Choose the Peacock application.
  • Then choose Clear Cache.
  • To confirm, click OK.

Disconnect From Your Virtual Private Network

You are excused from this step if you do not connect to the internet over a virtual private network (VPN).

Most video applications and streaming providers will actively try to prevent VPN traffic.

If you are using a virtual private network (VPN) that Peacock has been able to block, it is probable that you will not be able to access the video you are trying to view.

Turning down the VPN and reestablishing the connection is the simplest way to check whether this is the case.

Attempt to Use Peacock on a Different Device

It is important to determine how prevalent the issue is before we go for the more extreme solution (like resetting the Samsung TV) we have available.

Open Peacock on your computer or any other device connected to your network and see whether it works.

You can also try logging into the platform using a web browser on your Samsung TV.

If Peacock works on the other devices in your home but not your TV, you should get in touch with Samsung’s customer care.

However, if Peacock is not functioning properly on any of your devices, the issue may lie with your personal Peacock account or with the servers that Peacock uses.

Check Your Internet Speed

Peacock and other video and streaming services could have trouble buffering on slow internet connections.

Download speeds of at least 3-4 Mbps are required for standard streaming, while 5-8 Mbps are required for high-definition (HD) streaming.

If your speeds are slower than that, you must take the following actions:

  • Check for sources of interference
  • Restart your router
  • Get in touch with your internet service provider

There is a chance that your Samsung TV is not connected to Wi-Fi due to an IP address issue or an issue with your router.

Verify the Current Status of the Peacock Server

You may use Downdetector to see if or not other users in your area are having problems with Peacock.

Most of the time, peacock outages are localized and simple to fix.

It’s probably time to contact Peacock support and ask for further information if you can’t find anything on Downdetector.

They will be able to provide information that is more recent than what I can provide in this essay.

Delete the Peacock App and Reinstall It

Although a full reinstallation is sometimes necessary, the majority of issues in a program may be addressed by deleting its cache.

To accomplish your goals, you must remove and reinstall the program.

Steps for uninstalling the Peacock app

  • Press the Home button on the remote to bring up the home screen on your Samsung TV.
  • From the menu that displays on the screen, choose Apps.
  • Choose Settings.
  • Navigate to the Peacock App to continue.
  • From the pop-up menu, choose Delete to confirm your choice.

Reinstallation guidelines for the Peacock application

  • Press the Home button on the remote to bring up the home screen on your Samsung TV.
  • From the menu that displays on the screen, choose Apps.
  • Tap the Search icon, which resembles a magnifying glass, on the Apps screen.
  • Enter “peacock” in the “search” box.
  • Select the installation option from the menu.
  • Now try the Peacock app once again. You will need to enter your login information again since it will not be carried over from the prior installation.

You can also add the app to the home screen of your Samsung TV for easy access.

Reboot Your Router

Your local Wi-Fi network is often the issue rather than your TV or the Peacock app.

It’s simpler to just restart your whole network to see if it fixes everything rather than attempting to troubleshoot each individual network issue.

To maintain your network operating at its optimum, you should normally do this once a month or so.

Before continuing, ensure that nobody in your house is actively accessing the internet.

During the reboot, this operation will turn off all network and internet connections for around five minutes.

Alright, let’s get going.

  • Your modem and router’s power cord should be unplugged. Pause for 30 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power wires.
  • Wait a few minutes for the modem and router to power up.

Try to launch the Peacock app once your TV reconnects to the network. This is also a good opportunity to do another test if your network speeds were poor when you first tested them.

While restarting your router can often temporarily increase your speeds, it won’t address all underlying issues.

Restart the Samsung Television Set

Most of the time, unpredictable hiccups in the TV software are to blame for app issues.

Most software issues may be resolved by turning the device off and then turning it back on again.

Two distinct approaches may be used to manually restart a Samsung TV.

Using a Remote Control

Turn on your television with the remote control and long press the power button until it turns off and turns back on.

Perform a Power Cycle

Your TV may also be manually powered cycled, which is the second method for restarting it.

Unplug the TV from the socket, wait for 120 seconds and then plug it back in. After this, turn the TV on again.

Update the Firmware on Your Samsung TV

Samsung smart TVs provide automatic firmware updates, but users may still choose to manually force an upgrade.

  • Press the Home button.
  • Choose Settings.
  • Select software update.
  • Click “Update Now.”
  • Wait for the download to complete.

What To Do If Samsung TV Does Not Support Peacock?

You can play Peacock on any television, regardless of whether it is a smart TV or not, so long as you have a Fire TV Stick or a Roku streaming stick. You can seamlessly watch Peacock On a Roku TV or a stick.

Both are straightforward and come loaded with the most popular streaming applications.

If you don’t already have a preference, I would recommend the Amazon Fire TV due to the Alexa voice commands that are included with the Fire Stick.

Final Thoughts
