Gulf Islands National Seashore

Beaches

Sand beach for swimming, boating, camping, fishing, picnics & birding plus historic forts & cannons.

Slide 1 of 8

Pensacola Bay includes some of the most popular and accessible visitor units of the approximately 135,000-acre Gulf Islands National Seashore, which sprawls along the barrier islands and portions of the mainland of Mississippi and Florida’s Gulf Coast. The attractions here include the fascinating history on display at Fort Barrancas and Fort Pickens—both important landmarks of the Civil War—as well as the fine trail network in the Naval Live Oaks area, and of course multiple white-sand beaches. Besides hiking, paddling, camping, and swimming (especially at the lifeguarded beaches of the Fort Pickens unit), you’ve also got prime fishing opportunities—not least from the Fort Pickens Area Fishing Pier, where you can cast recreationally without a license.

Gulf Islands National Seashore stretches a full 160 miles and offers several distinct areas for visitors to explore. With plenty of beach access for sunbathing, more active adventurers will also enjoy hiking trails, fishing access points, historical sites (including Fort Pickens), and great options for migratory birdwatching. Since this area is part of the National Parks system, visitors can also participate in tours and other educational events, so be sure to check the NPS site for upcoming dates and programming.

One of the area’s all-time most well-visited tourist stops, Gulf Islands National Seashore has a lot to offer: clean, lovely beaches, stunning natural views, flourishing wildlife, and–more to the point–spectacular sunsets. Many of the framed sunset prints you’ll find in local shops are taken here, thanks to the easily-accessible, well-maintained stretches of coast and unhurried, non-crowded atmosphere. Some even argue that the sky looks more colorful from the Gulf Islands’ remote shores.

The highlight of the Florida Panhandle, this 150-mile stretch of mostly undeveloped white-sand beach is a prime example of what the Gulf Coast looked like before human settlement (which, to be fair, can often be seen in the form of high rises in the distance). The National Seashore is not contiguous, but you'll find portions all along the coast: long swaths of sugar-white dunes crowned with sea oats, a perfect example of pristine flatland beach.

Being protected federally, Gulf Islands National Seashore is a natural paradise along the coast of Pensacola. It is a group of barrier islands along the Gulf of Mexico, with one foot in the southern United States, southern Mississippi and of course in Pensacola. This stretch is equipped with facilities that will calm your soul and excite your mind.

Very serene setting if you want to enjoy peaceful beaches. We camped for 10 nights near to the beaches and could hear the waves all day and night. Very soothing experience. The area has a ton of bike trails, if you want to explore by bike. Langdon beach has restrooms and water taps / outdoor shower to wash off beach sand after a long day of play at the beach. Sunsets and sunrises during December cannot be described in words.

The Davis Bayou area in Ocean Springs, Mississippi offers scenic views of the Mississippi Sound and the marshy, swampy areas that provide habitat to native alligators, turtles and a variety of large birds (including Osprey and Herons). We like to walk near the boat ramp and the area south of the visitors center for the best water views. Don't miss this wonderful destination if you are passing through this area.

Such a wonderful peaceful spot. I may not only is it gorgeous, but it pays tribute to those people who have fought the good fight and served in our military so that we can sleep in peace at night. Thank you to all those who served as well while we're on the subject. I'm a disabled vet and although it was not the funnest time in my life, because of those people that are fighting every single day protecting me I would gladly grab a gun and head back. But this is a great little area, what I normally do especially during the daytime you know when it feels good outside, go by and get me some food to go, and then I just run over there it's running center of town so I run over there and eight, look at the water it's peaceful is quiet, it's just it's something really special I really enjoy going over there.

Slide 1 of 3

This is such a cute place, it was our first stop in Florida. 5 bucks gets you entry and a bowl of assorted bits of food to feed the birds, which is insanely reasonable compared to a lot of similar types of attractions. I got to see so many cool types of birds and we hand fed the peacocks, at the end they had a sweet little grey bird they were passing around to hold, it was an absolute blast. I miss George lol he's such a goofy bird, I wanted to steal him hahaha. I'm not sure I'd bring very young kids here, the birds do bite if ya were to stick your hand up in the cages, but if they're keen on following instructions you'll probably be alright.

What an awesome place! We stumbled upon this place while searching for something to do with our kiddoes. We were not disappointed! My husband and I enjoyed it just as much as our little ones. The staff was incredibly friendly and the birds are very loved. I believe our absolute favorite was the free roaming peacocks.

Awesome unique experience! Macaws were gorgeous to see and interact with. The staff there was very friendly and helpful. The peacocks and emu were especially loved by the kids. :)

Historic Fort Barrancas

Historical landmark

Sights & Landmarks

Historic hilltop fort once occupied by a variety of countries, now home to a museum with tours.

Slide 1 of 4

Take a walk through Fort Barrancas and experience military history first-hand. Built in 1844, Fort Barrancas was used during the Civil War by Confederate soldiers who were fighting against Union forces camped at Fort Pickens. A self-guided tour map is available to download, and you can explore the fort and stand where cannons were once fired so long ago.

As you might know by now, I love going to visit historic forts. This is inside the Naval Air Station. This one is an amazing fort, from its location to the role it played in history. I would say this is a must fort to visit. I would recommend you watch the 12-minute video they have available before you had out to see this historic place. Everything you will see will have a meaning, and you will then begin to imagine how things happened. What a beauty of a place. You really need to take some time when you are there. This is a place where you can't rush it. If you like these types of historic places, you will enjoy everything from the walls to the hallways to the design. I Know I am uploading pictures that might cause you to wonder why those pictures. Well, when you go there, you will say, oh I see why. I would come back here just because I think this is a cool place to visit.

This quiet, sleepy fort location is packed with a a lot of history. To appreciate its history, make sure to read all the placards that tells the stories. When read, it brings to life the battles and the power of the artillery relics used in the battles.

Beautifully maintained fort that you can roam for hours if you choose. The history of this area is unique and worth learning about. Highly recommend stopping here and talking with the employees. The 10 minute video was a great introduction and the fort did not disappoint. Thanks for a wonderful stop on my vacation!

Historic landmark built to defend Pensacola Bay, plus discovery center, nearby beach & fishing pier.

Slide 1 of 3

Fort Pickens was fun to explore. So many rooms and even tunnels. Great to learn some mid 1800s to mid 1900s history of the fort and area. Friendly staff at the store. The beaches and dunes in the area are amazing. Love the cool white sand! The facilities were clean.

Amazing location for bird watching. Several trails to view nesting ospreys.

This is a beautiful national park with camping and plenty of beach areas to explore. It's also home to the historic Fort Pickens. A great place to bring the family to learn some of our country's valuable history.

Pensacola Beach Gulf Pier

Fishing pier

Outdoor Activities

Angling for sailfish & sightings of dolphins from a paid-access pier across 2 gulf shore sand bars.

Slide 1 of 6

A longer pier extending well into the gulf waters, Pensacola Beach Gulf Pier makes a gorgeous stop at any time of day, but it’s particularly enthralling at sunrise and sunset. Visitors come to the pier year-round to see what marine life they can spot in the waters along the edge; manta rays, sea turtles, sharks, and a slew of fish are regulars around the pier’s supports. You’ll pay about a dollar to gain admission, but it’s well worth the pocket change for a clean, well-maintained pier offering such attractive views of the Gulf–especially at sunset.

Stretching an eye-popping 1,470 feet beyond two sand bars into the Gulf, this iconic fishing pier is a happy haven for anglers and amblers alike. Set just off the Pensacola Beach Boardwalk on Quietwater Beach, the waters off of the Pensacola Beach Pier teem with marine life. Cast a fishing rod for catches ranging from mackerel to flounder.

Want to get truly up close and personal with the powerful Gulf Coast?. A day spent by the Pensacola Beach Gulf Pier is in order!. Stretching over a quarter mile into the Gulf, this massive piers allows plenty of access for fishing and strolling, for a small fee.

Sugary sands and crystal clear water. One of my favorite beaches in the US. I prefer the beaches in the gulf coast to the ones on the east coast of Florida. Lesser crowds and cleaner beaches. The pier provides some great photo opportunities with the panaromic view of the Pensacola skyline. We visited the beach during sunset and it is spectacular. There is a small admission fee (about $5 for 2 people) to get there and it's more than worth that amount.

The water in the ocean is very transparent. The beach is clean with white sand. There is a public big parking lot by the beach. Facilities like showers and restrooms are available between the beach and the parking lot which is very convenient.

Great place to chat with fisherman about their catches, the beracuda and the lady fish, and watch the shoreline. With a small fee charge, it is ceryainly worthwhile

Adventures Unlimited Outdoor Center

Rustic cabins, houses & campsites in a sprawling resort, plus activities like canoeing & ziplining.

Slide 1 of 3

The whole family went zip lining and it was so much fun! Highly recommend this place and the staff. Ask for tour guides John and Megan - they’re the best!! They give you clear safety instructions and also make sure you have a great time! We’ll be back, definitely worth it!

We had arranged for a small camping style cabin for two nights of relaxation for our 24th wedding anniversary. We received a phone call from the office on the morning of our arrival that the Coldwater creek had flooded and our originally booked cabin was unreachable. We were offered a full refund or a possible change of accommodations. We decided to go on and see what we could do for an alternative. When Ms Suzanne in the office found out that it was a special day for us, she placed us in the Nashville Railcar Cabin. It was absolutely beautiful and could not have possibly been any more perfect. Also in addition to the creek flood eliminating all of their River trips and Zip line attractions, we ended up having the entire acreage to ourselves for the night of our anniversary. I cannot say enough about the cleanliness and care of the entire campground as well as the friendliness of the staff. Ms Suzanne deserves the highest of praise for saving our trip and going above and beyond to accommodate us. We look forward to a return trip and experiencing more of their offerings in the future. We had the most relaxing, peaceful and enjoyable time. It was amazing! Thank you so much Ms Suzanne and the entire staff at Adventures Unlimited! Our joy was truly Unlimited!

This was my 3rd time ziplining and I had a blast! My group went with John and Andy, who knew so much about the area and could answer any question we had. They were also very helpful in calming my nerves so I wouldn't take forever getting off the platform😅 Not to mention, this activity was very cheap for what we got (9 lines for $100 per person). By far the best ziplines I've been to. Will definitely consider going back again

Blackwater River State Park

Spanning 600+ acres, this park has a sand-bottom river & 1 of the largest Atlantic white cedars.

Slide 1 of 3

A beautiful place to stop and stretch your legs! On a warmer day the beaches would have been absolutely wonderful for relaxing on. The sand is like white sugar! I went on the 1.5mile loop hike and it was easy, informative and really pleasant. It was really quiet the day I was there and I hardly saw anyone else. There is a $4 fee.

Stayed here and camped with my family during October. Cannot say enough wonderful things about the entire park, but the campgrounds are kept immaculately! We stayed in the loop where there’s a playground in the middle. Our kids loved circling the loop on their scooters and playing on the playground throughout the day. Short walk to the “beach” down by the river and a great nature trail close by that’s super easy for kids (all our kiddos are 5 and under). We’ve already booked another stay in the Spring and can’t wait to go back.

Impeccably clean bathrooms and very well maintained sites, nicely spaced from each other, included a clothesline.. White sandy river beach and easy trails along the water and through tall pines forest. They even hd daily garbage pickup! Only drawback in the one day we were there was constant helicopter flights overhead from training site nearby.

This place had a couple really fun entertaining shows. It was worth going at least once. I think of I had young kids I'd definitely take them here. Oh course it's not a Sea World, but the staff do a really good job with answering any questions & presenting the animals. We spent over 4 hours looking around & seeing shows. It was raining on & off when we went. Most of this place is open, but they do have a lot of areas that are covered.

We enjoyed our time at the Gulfarium! It was extremely packed for a beautiful day and the entrance was a little confusing on where to go to see everything but once we got the hang of it it was quite enjoyable. The dolphin show was amazing. The sea lions were so funny! The store was full of all kinds of memorabilia from your trip. We highly recommend taking your kids to see this!

This place was a nice experience. Fairly priced and took about an hour to get through, including the Sea Lion show which was fantastic! (Definitely our favorite part - we were not able to see a dolphin show due to arriving after the last show, but we were okay with that) Nice, relaxing and beautiful surroundings as well. The gift shop was pretty large and had a wide variety of souvenirs. Variety of animals as well.

Air Force Armament Museum

Free indoor/outdoor museum on the world's largest air base with over 25 planes, artifacts & weapons.

Slide 1 of 3

A+++!! This is an awesome place to visit, even if you aren't an aircraft nut (I am, so it was even cooler for me.) The did a great job of organizing the aircraft and other displays and provided a lot of information about the specific aircraft on display. Most impressive part...it was free and the bathrooms were NICE! When do you ever get nice clean bathrooms at a free attraction?

The sheer number of artifacts here is amazing. Everything from planes to guns to helicopters to bombs. And the stories behind them and their usage...! Amazing! It's a great family museum but also perfect for adults. I highly recommend it. Allow about 2-3 hours to really see everything .Wear comfy shoes. Definitely a family oriented museum.

This place is a super underestimated gem. First of all, we tried to go to the Pensacola National Naval Aviation Museum, but since a shooting in 2019, they've locked that place down pretty tight. Even as a veteran I couldn't get on board the base with my family to see a NATIONAL museum. So, we drove the opposite direction to see planes and I was IMPRESSED! Great selection of static aircraft outside. Tons of weapons, aircraft and ordnance on display inside! My son's a plane nerd and he absolutely loved it. Easy to visit. And amazing aircraft on display!

The boardwalk stretches along the harbor and is a favorite evening destination for those looking to capture a remarkable Florida sunset.

If you’re looking for something free to do, head to the Destin Harbor Boardwalk. It’s filled with shops and restaurants, and it’s a great spot to take a stroll, people watch, and watch the sunset. It’s touristy, but we suggest grabbing drinks from Harry T’s, because it has a great view.

One of the top free things to do in Destin, Florida is to walk around the Destin Harbor. The Harbor Boardwalk lets you see the harbor and its pristine beauty and plenty more. You can also come here for great entertainment and terrific activities.

Really great place to have fun and relax. There's so much for couples and even more for families! Such a wonderful little zoo! You get to be up close and get really good views of the animals. You can feed the donkeys, goats, giraffes and go in the aviary and all the little parakeets come land on your arms and eat seeds stuck to a popsicle stick. The staff is so friendly, the zoo is very clean and you can even pay a little extra to have some up close and personal experience with some of the animals. We absolutely loved it!

Decided to check the Emerald Coast Zoo out today and glad we did. It has been a few years since our last visit, and a lot has changed. The zoo and the enclosures are clean. The animals are well taken care of and loved. The new owners are doing a wonderful job. If you are in the area looking for something to do give the zoo a chance. I think you will be glad you did.

What a great place for a family to go and learn about and see animals up close and personal. The animal enclosures are clean and appropriate for the animals to be comfortable! The animals are calm and content, and there are animals that you can feed and pet! Tickets are inexpensive, and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable! Loved our visit and will go back!

Henderson Beach State Park

State park

Outdoor Activities

Beaches

Beach haven offering a boardwalk, a pet-friendly nature trail plus a playground & campground.

Slide 1 of 8

Featuring more than a mile of sparkling beach set along the Gulf’s shimmering waters, Henderson Beach State Park is located on Emerald Coast Parkway and is a must-visit attraction for those who’ve come to Florida for its beaches. Though the beach is the park’s centerpiece, there is also a nature trail and a playground, as well as showers and restrooms. The beach is relatively close to a number of restaurants, but many guests choose to pack their own grub and make a day of it.

As one of the last coastal scrub landscapes in Destin, Henderson Beach State Park offers unmatched views from end to end. The way the bright green waters hit the sandy beaches is always a true sight to behold, but that’s not all you get to enjoy. While walking along the shoreline, you’ll get to see 30-foot dunes made from the same brilliant white sands covering the entire beach.

However, you want to make sure it’s as gratifying of an experience as possible. Henderson Beach State Park is an opulent attraction that will appeal to you if you want to bring your love for nature and recreation together. With the Gulf of Mexico nearby, Henderson Beach State Park immediately announces itself as one of the most beautiful parts of Destin.

Henderson Beach State Park is 200 acres on the Emerald Coast of Florida. Home to a nature trail where you can see some of the last remaining endangered coastal scrub communities in the panhandle, it’s a lovely stroll. The park serves as a haven for shore birds and is also home to endangered or protected plant species.

Henderson Beach is one of the best public beaches in the area. The sparkling water and white sands run for more than a mile. In addition to that, there’s a nature trail and playground.

I live across the street from Henderson Park and as such I go there just about every morning and walk the beach I get Early Access so I get to see the Moon Over the beach and I get to see some really great sun rises and some sunsets. This is a wonderfully managed State Park I particularly like Alex who always has a smile on his face. If you can get an RV campsite here you will not be disappointed. However, the campground beach access boardwalk will be closed for repairs from September 2021 through March 2022. Still, it's spectacular and the next state park that you'd should try if you like being on the beach would be Topsail which is about 12 miles down the road but Henderson is easier and a much better day use Park. Topsail which is further down you have to take a tram to get to the beach and I prefer being able to park and walk right over at Henderson

We couldn’t believe we’ve just driven past this beautiful place dozens of times. We got there before 11am on a Saturday and it was very quiet. The beach was beautiful and we felt like we had it to ourselves for a while. The restroom and picnic facilities were very well kept. Definitely worth the six dollars for parking. We will be back.

Absolutely loved the beach! The sand was so white and soft. There is a fee to enter as it is a state park. There was a little wait to enter but it was well worth it. The water was so pretty and the beach was extremely clean. I will be returning.

FAMILY FRIENDLY!!! Cool for couples and groups too… I am having a blast… I will be coming back again when I can stay for at least a week so that I can really enjoy everything… Everything is in walking distance. Gold carts are also available for rent to get around the entire resort… Yes, you can leave your car parked and chill 😎

We were here during the off season so it was quiet but we could totally see how fun it would be for family and kids during high season. Lots of activities for the kids and restaurants and bars. Great spots to watch the sunset too! Had a nice walk out onto the pier.

We spent the new year Eve in this village, I didn't expect much before entering into the village. The security navigated us to the parking spot due to new year there was a huge crowd but well managed. They provided shuttle with hand band indicating which spot you started from. The village is beautiful and quiet a good sea food restaurants available on the other hand there are kids related activities like golf, arcade, zip line etc.. I would definitely recommend this place.

Grayton Beach State Park

State park

Outdoor Activities

2,000-acre park offering ocean swimming, a boat ramp on a lake, hiking & biking trails, & camping.

Slide 1 of 5

An 1133-acre stretch of marble-colored dunes rolling down to the water's edge, this state park's beauty is genuinely mind-blowing. The park sits nestled against the wealthy but down-to-earth community of Grayton Beach, home to the famed Red Bar and to the quirky Dog Wall – a mural on which residents paint portraits of their dogs.

This is the place to see what Florida looked like when only Native Americans lived here. One of the most scenic spots along the Gulf…

Such a calm and smooth beach on the Gulf of Mexico Santa Rosa Florida. It may sound weird but true. Even we walk 10 to 15 meters inside the beach, you can still see the clear bottom of the sea which I had not experienced before, such a easy waves. It’s especially wonderful for kids. Parents can sit and watch them playing rather worried for the rough waves. Sunset is a beast in this beach. Must watch. Some of the authorized and permitted vehicles can be brought to the shore and a hot the beach sitting in your own car/ truck. Low clearance vehicles be careful, vehicle gets stuck in 20, 30 meters from the pavement which is a hell to pullover later. We went twice in a single vacation. We enjoyed a lot and visit again.

The costal dune lakes are the most unique ecosystem I’ve ever had the pleasure of exploring. Having grown up in this area, I can say with confidence that this state park will show you the true beauty of Emerald Coast. The trails thick with sand and can be tiresome for some until you make it to the pine straw, so be prepared if traveling with older folks. There’s parking right at the trailhead and quick beach access for anyone wanting to skip to the end. If it rained the night before some of the trails might be flooded and impossibly so plan accordingly. Have fun and bring water!

Probably the best beach along 30A! If you have a Walton County beach permit & a 4 wheel drive vehicle you can drive on the beach and park to spend a fun day. This is one of the best and last beaches you will find and drive onto. There’s a coastal dune lake that outflows into the Gulf of Mexico usually after a heavy rain, resulting in a tea coloring of the emerald water. It doesn’t have a detrimental effect on your health and is not polluted. Just relax and enjoy this jewel of nature!

What a beautiful little beach town! We took a drive down 30A and stopped here for lunch and to look around. Great shops, plenty of restaurants and good vibes. Parking is kind of tricky but luckily we found a spot close by on the backside of the shops. I had a great time seeing some of the places from The Truman Show and just people watching. Would definitely recommend to friends and visit again. Really liked the modern look and pastels of the beach town. Another plus was the very clean bathrooms onsite that were gender neutral. Great place!

Always a great experience. Beautiful scenery, cool seabreezes, delicious food, and right next to the beach. What else do you need?

The winter months in Seaside, Florida, are good for avoiding crowds. You won't stand in line for restaurants and can actually snag a seat at a beachside bar for a beautiful sunset. Just bring a light jacket.

Vortex Spring

Recreation area with swimming, slides & snorkeling in a freshwater spring, plus a cave dive site.

Slide 1 of 3

Diver’s favorite place. 60’F water temperature all year long, clear water and helpful staff here.

It's expensive for what it is. Not a lot to see and do for a recreational level diver. There is a sunken sailboat and a small cavern area. Every time I go, there are tons of new divers stirring the place up. Last time I was there, there was about 5 feet visibility. There were way too many divers in the basin. The bathrooms are gross. I about fell through a rotten board on one of the docks. This place has potential, but needs some TLC.

I used to like this place, but I've had a few poor experiences over the years which unfortunately put me off from the whole place as a whole. Also, I don't remember the price for primitive camping ever being $81 there. When did that happen? Yikes.

Ponce De Leon Springs State Park

Cool-water springs for swimming & fishing plus picnicking & hiking in a year-round state park.

Slide 1 of 4

This park features one of Florida's loveliest and least touristed springs. The spring has clear, almost luminescent waters, like something from a fairy tale, and is studded with knobby trees and surrounded by ladders for easy swimming access. Two short trails skirt the bank of nearby Blackwater Creek. The water temperature remains a constant 68°F.

The park and spring were gorgeous! The water was super cold but we expected that. It was clear and you could see some beautiful fish. There was a separate section that was more shallow but had a current. There wasn't really a great place for little ones to wade but the water was a bit cold for her anyway so we did a short dip with her life jacket and then just sat and dangled feet and checked out some trails. Lots of picnic tables and there were restrooms at the entrance. I was disappointed that the steps going down into the spring were roped off so you could only use the ladders or the steps down into the creek from which the spring was not accessible. There was both a ramp and steps down to the edge of the spring but there wasn't an actual ramp down into the water. Did not affect our experience but something to note for those needing more accessibility.

What a beautiful spring! We didn’t know what to expect being from Nevada. The spring looked inviting but first we took a small trail walk. We saw a baby turtle and some fish, thankfully no alligator! Then we braved the cold water and jumped and played in the spring. We had a fun time and it was so fun to banter with others on the cold water!

The fountain of youth. For being January the water was actually quite favorable. Found a baby turtle, didn't keep it fyi. Very nice short nature walk. Seeing where the river meets the spring water was really cool. A must see .

Great Wednesday $120 NLH tournament. I like the 9-per-table format. Good dealers, nice staff, reasonable concessions. Only complaint is one of the elevators wasn't working. That will improve as the renovations continue, I'm sure. I had a great time, and wish KC had something like this.

Checked with the manager inside and she says Ok to park our RV overnight at the far side of the parking lot. Big parking lot with mostly flat surface. Friendly staffs inside the poker room. Thanks!

This place was a great visit for me and my family. There is pretty much everything in here from clothing to surf/skate boards and to food and deserts. Also easy access to the pier on the water. Could not find a “public. Bathroom” without going into a store to use. Great visit along with a movie theater also!

Awesome fun! My granddaughter and I have dubbed it, The Greatest Playground in PC. If there had been a place to pitch a tent, we would still be there.

Really great shows! The dolphin show was my 5 year old's favorite. Well done and the animals seem to well cared for. It's a great place to hit up in PCB if you have small ones or are an animal lover.

We have never been to Gulf World and thought this time we should check it out while in Panama. I would not ever want to be there during a crowded season. It's a very small place compared to any zoo or aquarium we have visited. Being an off season now when we went it was fine. It was more expensive than for what we could normally get from other experiences at zoos or aquariums but it is still very enjoyable. I liked how you can pay for extra interactions and photos with the animals. We only needed two hours there so it is also good for a stop without it taking up an entire day of your vacation. It was pretty clean also. The dolphin show was fantastic and that's where I consider I mostly got my monies worth so if you don't see it you might as well just wait until you are sure you don't miss that.

What an amazing experience! We did the dolphin royal swim. Everyone I have talked to that has swam with dolphins anywhere else says they just get to touch them and that’s about it… Here we got to swim out in their tank 2 different times and they gave us rides. We also got to enjoy sea lion shows and a dolphin show with our tickets. Highly recommend. This was the best day ever. I am always hesitant about places like this but ALL of the animals here are very well taken care of and everyone we met were there for the right reasons and their main focus was keeping all of the animals healthy!

See the strange and unusual at Ripley’s Believe It Or Not in Panama City Beach. The attraction offers dozens of exhibits and hands-on activities. See animal skeletons, play a life-size game of Operation, and let kids play in the crawl area.

For dinner, we went to Dee’s Hangout, a great seafood restaurant not far from Pirate’s Island, Ripley’s Believe It Or Not and WonderWorld. I ordered the Blackened Redfish and I highly recommend it.

Then there's the 7D Moving Theater, Mirror Maze, and the LaseRace!. There's so many ways to have fun all under one roof!

Neat auditorium as usual, the mirror maze was entertaining as well. The 7D movie was also fun. The laser maze was not good. It did not work properly or set up properly I'm not sure. All I know is it turned on the lasers and music and did nothing else while other people kept trying to come in as well. Perhaps have an attendant over there to help direct everyone? It was costly as with most Ripley's but with exception of the maze I'd definitely recommend a visit. Also for the military people they do offer a pretty decent discount.

I’m gonna start off by saying it is very overpriced for what is there. It’s a good place to kill some time. My kids were more interested in the gift shop if that says anything. The 7D game was the most fun. If you wanna just kill some time id say yeah go for it, but other than its quite expensive especially if your taking more than 2 kids.

Believe It or Not!! We purchased our tickets online which was easy. The kids didn't really enjoy this place. Some of the exhibits freaked my little one out so he was ready to go. It's a nice place just to kill sometime and get out of the summer heat.

Wineries & Vineyards

Slide 1 of 9

Located on Thomas Drive in Panama City Beach, Panama City Beach Winery is an award-winning, family-owned business that produces and sells wines predominately made from Florida-grown produce like berries, oranges, and key limes. The winery’s staff offers tours and tastings; for wine aficionados, it’s a great way to spend an afternoon out of the harsh sun learning about how common fruit is turned into intoxicating adult beverages. Tastings are available as well, and between the wonderful flavors and fantastic scenery, you may just get the urge to dust off that old Jimmy Buffet CD that’s been collecting dust in your closet when you get home.

Panama City Beach Winery is a popular stop for tourists and locals alike thanks to its delicious selection of wine and free tastings. Known as the sole tropical winery in Bay County, all of its wines are made in-house, and have received praise from all over the world. Using all fresh ingredients, the winery creates a wide variety of fruit wines that provide a crisp taste to battle the Florida heat.

Undoubedtly one of the best things to do for couples in Panama City Beach is taking a visit to the Panama City Beach winery. If you are a budget conscious traveler what is particularly nice about this winery is the fact that it is one of the few wineries in Florida that still offers free wine tasting. Don’t miss the Key Lime wine, it is absolutely delicious.

I had read about the Panama City Beach Winery that makes Florida citrus wines and I was very intrigued. I’m so glad we stopped by because surprisingly, citrus wines are very enjoyable!. Although I don’t prefer sweet wines, these wines really surprised me. The Sangria was so flavorful and we also enjoyed the Peach, the Guava and the Orange Coffee wines.

Complimentary tastings appeal to the frugal wine lovers who visit the Panama City Beach Winery. During your tasting experience, you’ll discover unique varieties that are difficult to find elsewhere, including kiwi, watermelon, and more. Be sure to budget for at least a bottle or two, which should make for the perfect souvenir or gift.

Enjoy a glass of wine in the summer sun at Panama City Beach Winery. The popular winery is unlike most in the United States, focusing on fruit wines versus traditional grape-based ones. Panama City Beach Winery is home to an extensive wine collection made 100% from Florida fruit.

Love love PCB winery! Our favorites are the Midnight Sun (orange coffee), Peach, Mango, red and white sangria, Key Lime, and really—everything is great! The tasting gives you so much to choose from, and includes and smoothie treat of your choice at the end! Friendly staff with great recommendations. Can’t wait to purchase more for family friends and gifts.

Such an amazing fruit winery. Normally, I am not a fan of fruit wines. They are usually a grape wine (often muscadine grapes) that is fortified with fruit juice or flavoring. Not something I really enjoyed. This Winery is a cut above all others because their wines are made from 100% fruit juice. For example, the blackberry wine is made out of 4 lb of blackberries. Likewise, the mango wine is made from mangoes 100%. For us, the hands-down winner was the orange coffee wine. Not only was it very unique, but sipping it prior to eating the desert you could pick up on a lot orange flavor with a hint of coffee in the background. If you took a bite of the desert, the coffee notes were more pronounced. I highly recommend going for the free wine tasting. It was amazing.

If you’re in the area and looking to try some fun fruit wine, this is a fun stop to make. Swing by for a free wine tasting, enjoy a glass and then shop their store (they have many items that will make you LOL).

This was an amazing experience to interact with the wolves. Our family had a private two hour tour. Rileigh & Barb were both knowledgeable about the animals and Seacrest. You could see that they both love these animals. Barb took 605 pictures of us on our cell phone! We got to truly experience it and not have to take the pictures!

We drove from north Texas to Chipley, Florida just to have a moment with these beautiful animals! I fell in love with wolves and am dedicated to learn more about them and even though I like to think I have a lot of knowledge about wolves, I still learned something new during my visit! Barb and Annette were great guides and good company and Lindsey was also great helping us to schedule the visit! The wolves weren’t forced into any situation they didn’t want to be in. Some wolves wanted to jump on us while others just wanted to lay in the sun and put their head on my lap. All in all it felt like a very personable experience and I hope if I come to Florida again I can make a habit of visiting Seacrest Wolf Preserve and supporting their cause!

Seacrest was amazing. My girlfriend surprised me with a trip for my birthday. The staff was super knowledgeable about their wolves and wolves in general. They didn’t allow you to bring your cellphone because the wolves are sneaky but we gave our phone to the staff and they took roughly 19 million photos for us. My only complaint was secretly was super tight and I wasn’t able to steal baby Cha cha and bring her home with me. Thank you guys again for unforgettable experience!

Falling Waters State Park Campground

Scenic state park & hiking area featuring a waterfall, sinkholes, campsites & a small lake.

Slide 1 of 3

Quiet and pretty campground with clean restrooms and showers. Spots are a bit snug but our 35 foot 5ver fit fine. Trails to the water are nice and the picnic area at the pond is well kept and pretty. The road to get in is a bit steep up and down but not as bad as it looks once you drive it.

We stayed at Falling Waters State Park Campground for one night on our way west out of FL. Upon arrival we wished we had planned on a longer stay. Shortly after arrival they had a bad storm move over the panhandle, so we only had a few hours to explore. There is plenty more to do in this beautiful park. The campground is secured and very well maintained. The gravel sites are level. All sites have power and water hook ups. The bathrooms/showers look very new. The garbage dumpster and dump site is close but not to close. The camp host actually came around to warn each camper that there was a tornado watch issued for our county and that we should run to the bath house if we needed to. We will stay again if in the area. Oh yeah, the price was very affordable.

Falling Waters is a stopover more than a destination. If you need an overnight close to I-10 in the Panhandle, this is a good choice. Campground is nestled in a pine forest with clean bathhouse, dishwashing station, fire ring, picnic table, 48 over-the-air TV stations. One bar Verizon. Site 17 is large and fairly level, but no footpath to bathhouse or trash. Stretch legs from long drive with boardwalk to waterfall overlook. Butterfly garden is newly planted with no flutters in sight. Peaceful retreat for panhandle rest.

What beach is better Panama City or Destin?

If your family wants to fish, eat seafood, play golf, enjoy a vibrant nightlife, and go shopping, then Destin is the perfect vacation spot for you. However, if you want a more laid-back family vacation with excellent waterfront lodging and many children's activities, then Panama City Beach is the way to go.

Panama City Beach does have beautiful water, but in my opinion is very crowed and traffic is bad. Pensacola Beach is easier to manuver, but still lots of construction from new hotels and hurricane clean up. For true touristy experience go to Panama City, for a more relaxed small town vacation go to Pensacola Beach.
