It's graduation week for St. Lucie County School District graduates and county leaders are excited about the special ceremonies."Our largest graduation class is around 740, so we have a lot of chairs to set up. We’ll get the final preparations on our state with our podium. We’re setting up our sound system as well as our satellite feed with our television," Lydia Martin, the chief communications officer of the St. Lucie County School District told WPBF 25 News.Local events happening: WPBF 25 UnifiedAbout 3,000 students will walk across the state from six comprehensive high schools. May 248 a.m.: St. Lucie West Centennial High School 11 a.m.: Lincoln Park AcademyMay 258 a.m.: Fort Pierce Central High School 11 a.m.: Port St. Lucie High School May 268 a.m.: Treasure Coast High School 11 a.m.: Fort Pierce Westwood Academy June 8 (Fort Pierce Central Auditorium) 8 a.m.: Acceleration Academy9 a.m.: Performance-Based Preparatory Academy 10 a.m.: Mosaic Digital Academy"This is the highlight, it’s really a communitywide celebration. We’re really proud of the hard work of the graduates especially since these students really had the majority of their high school career during the pandemic," Martin said. Around the country: National coverage from WPBF 25 NewsOfficials ask that the public be mindful of traffic before, during and after the ceremonies. They anticipate there to be heavy traffic on Virginia Avenue. Local law enforcement agencies will be present to ensure public safety. "Bring umbrellas, it’s going to be hot out in the sun but in case there’s an occasional light rain shower as well," Martin said. Each student will have about four to five guest tickets, and officials advise everyone to bring their tickets on graduation day.
