$800 all in for cpu/Mobo/ram/GPU with that exact same combo and 32gb of 3200mhz cl16 ram.

Can run Warzone (120ish fps) and Apex (140ish fps) at 1440p and look forward to doing so for several years.

FWIW, I wouldn’t stake any value in b660 being able to “upgrade” to a 13th gen in the future. Hopefully, by the time it’s ready to upgrade, 13th gen is obsolete.

You can’t go wrong with either a 5600X or a 12400, and a strong DDR4 setup. If you did want to plop down some money for even more longevity, I’d wait until next gen AMD boards come out and you can go DDR5. But from a value standpoint point, I plan to wait a couple of years to make that jump.

My PC build is nearing completing and the final component i need to choose is the GPU. I've narrowed my choices down to the RX 6600 XT, the RX 6700 (non XT) and the RTX 3060. The 6700 XT and 3060Ti are out of my price range.

All 3 cards are roughly the same price in my location (Within £30). Ray-tracing isn't a requirement for me either. So which card is the best?

Setup:

CPU - Intel 12400F

Mobo - Gigabyte B660 DS3H

RAM - 16GB Corsair Vengeance 3600Mhz

If you play 1440p you need the 6700XT, otherwise it adds around 20% more FPS compared to 6600XT.

level 1

6600xt is slightly faster than 3060 while 6700xt is comparable with 3060Ti.

level 1

Edit: WARNING info I have posted seems to be incorrect, please reference later comments for corrections.

6600xt=3060ti=2060S which is roughly equal to 1080ti

6700xt is between 3070 and 3080 I believe.

Edit: removed 2080ti

level 2

Well this is just wrong, 3060ti and 6700XT are about equal with a slight AMD advantage, 6600XT is roughly 20% faster than a 2060S and a 3060ti is around 10% faster than a 6600XT. 6700XT is roughly 10%-15% slower than the 3070. Obviously these numbers aren't gonna be the case for every game and res but over all.

level 2

2080 ti is 42% effective than 6700xt

If you can get it for a good price, I would jump on the 6700 Xt. I got one via open box from Amazon for 378$ (The PowerCooler Red Devil one) and have been pretty impressed with it so far.
This at least gets you good performance for a while while you save for RDNA 3 cards when they come out. (And still might have to wait 6 months from their release to see any real price drop below MSRP)

Ive ran Cyberpunk at 1440 with everything Ultra without issues and even 2k res on my 4k TV on games like Horizon Zero Dawn and its been solid. (Paired with ryzen 5 5600).

If that's $400 vs $500, then they're priced in direct proportion to performance, so it's your call. It's like buying 4 apples vs buying 3 apples for a meal. Still, I'd pick the 6700XT.

But if the ratio is more like $300 vs $400, then the attractiveness of the 6700XT lessens slightly and it might be suffering from a mild case of diminished returns. I'd still pick the 6700XT.

On a different note, if you can get a 3060ti for the price of a 6700XT, I'd pick the 3060ti unless you don't care about RT or DLSS, then the 6700XT wins on slightly higher rasterization performance and more VRAM (12GB vs 8GB). If you want an nVidia option with RT+DLSS but >8GB RAM, find a 2080ti that's in a good shape.

for 1080p@75 and 1440p@60 the 6600xt will do the job

but please change the 5600g to 5600 or 5600x

level 2

What’s wrong with the 5600g? It’s about $15 cheaper than the 5600 and from what I’ve seen it performs barely worse if at all. I may be wrong though

level 2

Hi, I'm curious for my own build. I run 1080p 144hz, and I've been trying to decide between 6650xt (cheaper than a 6600xt where I'm at) or a 6700xt. I'm wondering which is the better option for trying to hold that sweet 144hz. Games commonly played Destiny 2 Lost Ark Assassins Creed (Oddessey and Valhalla) Cyberpunk 2077

level 2

Forget 1080p 75 and 1440p 60, IMO. The 6600 XT is very capable and is undersold quite a bit. For 60 FPS, you'd be typically running at 1800p or 4K. At 1080p and 1440p, you can expect much higher framerates, especially at 1080p. I game at 1440p at high framerates with that GPU.

Currently rocking an R7 3800X + RX 6600 XT. Loved the performance on 1440p such as GTA V, Hot Wheels Unleashed & The Division 2. Very good price to performance GPU

level 1

6700xt will last you longer as games get more intense. I use a reference 6700xt at 1440p and get comfortably above 100fps in all games except things like cyberpunk which have shit optimizations.

I agree with some others who have said you should shave off a few $ elsewhere if you really need to stay under $1200. It really is worth it, the gpu is the single most important component in a gaming pc.

level 1

Maybe take out the windows key and get a 6700xt then get the windows key when you have some extra cash¿

level 1

Piece of advice, don't ever buy windows

That looks pretty good. I was deciding between the r5 and the 12400f but was a little turned off by the 12400 mobo options. If you think this is a solid mobo then this could be a good option. Thanks :)

level 2

Why'd you price Windows at $40? You can't get a non grey-market key for that price.

level 1

Why not get a 3060 or a 3060ti

level 2

Because why would you? The 6600XT and 6700XT are faster than the 3060 or 3060Ti respectively, and in the current market can be had for less.

Is 6700 XT worth it over 6600 XT?

If you can afford it, definitely go for the 6700XT. The 6600XT really isn't a 1440p card, at least not for the more demanding games, and setting the resolution to 1080p on a 1440p monitor looks like crap.

Is the RX 6600 XT a high end GPU?

Featuring RDNA 2 architecture, the RX 6600 XT supports some high-end features despite its low price, with the most noticeable being ray tracing. Having thoroughly tested and benchmarked the card, I can confirm the AMD RX 6600 XT is an excellent value GPU, and an ideal choice for any gamer on a budget.

Is it worth buying a 6600 XT?

Price: $479. The Radeon RX 6600 XT is as close as it gets to an RX 5700 XT in terms of pricing and performance, with the addition of ray tracing and DirectX 12 Ultimate support. The only good thing I can say about the Radeon RX 6600 XT is that it sips power, and due to the lower demand you should be able to buy it.

Which Radeon RX 6600 XT is best?

ASRock Radeon RX 6600 XT Phantom Gaming D deserves the spot for Best Overall. It's also the best overclocker and, at the time of writing, it's priced the lowest out of the bunch.
