Samsung VRT steam washer manual codes

Samsung front-load washer error codes are a useful feature to help diagnose and fix problems with your Samsung washer. Of course, there is no point in getting an error code if you don’t know what it means and what you need to do to fix the issue. So here’s a list of what the error codes mean with instructions to resolve the error code.

Note that the 5 and the S symbol in a Samsung error code can appear similar, as can the 3 and E.

This guide applies to most Samsung front-load washers, including the following models:

WF206ANSXAA, WF206ANSXAC, WF206BNWXAC, WF209ANWXAA, WF210ANWXAA, WF218ANBXAA, WF218ANWXAA, WF219ANWXAA, WF328AAWXAA, WF330ANB/XAA, WF330ANBXAA, WF330ANW, WF330ANWXAA

Error Codes: 1E, LE, 1C, LC, LC1, 1 1C, 1 LC

Problem: Water level or leakage issue

The above Samsung washer error codes mean that moisture, indicating a leak, has been detected where it shouldn’t be. However, the error code is also sometimes triggered by a faulty water level sensor.

What to do:

  • Check for signs of a leak on the floor around the washer and inside the tub to help determine if the washer is leaking.
  • Check that the water supply and drain hoses are connected and secure (not leaking). Replace a hose if it is punctured rather than trying to patch it up.
  • Make sure the drain hose is installed correctly with the end of the hose 23 ½ inches above the floor.
  • Make sure the drain hose is not clogged. If you disconnect the drain hose, you should be able to blow through it. A drain snake tool can be used to unblock it.
  • If there is no sign of a leak or a clogged or incorrectly installed drain hose, check that the water level sensor wiring is connected to the control board. Replace the sensor if the wiring is not causing the issue.

Error Codes: nF, 4C, 4E, 1 4C

Problem: Water is not entering the washer correctly

If you get any of the above Samsung washer error codes, either the water supply to the washer is turned off, the water inlet valves are clogged, or the water inlet valve has failed electrically.

What to do:

  • Make sure the water supply to the washer is turned on.
  • Make sure the water supply lines are not kinked.
  • Disconnect the water supply lines from the washer and clean out the screens at the end of the hoses (not all models have these).
  • Clean out any calcium deposits that are clogging the end of the water lines.

If you have failed to find the problem:

  • Disconnect the power to the washer and turn off the water supply lines.
  • If you haven’t already, disconnect the water supply lines.
  • Remove the control panel or top-rear panel of the washer (where the water supply lines enter the washer).
  • Locate the water inlet valve and remove the wiring connectors.
  • With a multimeter, test each solenoid for ohms of resistance. Depending on the washer model, each solenoid should measure close to 1000 ohms of resistance (check the washer’s tech sheet or owner’s manual for the specific ohm levels for your model).

Whether or not the water inlet valve passed the multimeter test, your next best course of action is to either:

  • Contact a technician for further testing.
  • Replace the water inlet valve, as it most likely has a fault or a calcium buildup inside the valve that is causing the error code.

Error Codes: nF1, 4C2, 4E2, CE, 14C2

Problem: The cold water is extremely hot

The above error codes usually mean the hot water line has been connected to the cold water inlet connection on the washer. Reversing the water lines should fix the issue.

Error Codes: nd, 5E, SE, 5C, SC, 1 5C

Problem: Water is not draining from the washer

Most Samsung front-load washers have an accessible pump filter on the lower-left hand corner of the washer. Cleaning the filter and draining the washer through the pump filter hose will often fix the above error codes.

What to do:

  • Drain the water out of the washer through the pump filter hose.
  • Clean and unclog the pump filter.
  • Make sure the drain hose is not clogged or punctured.

If the error code still remains:

  • Disconnect the power, turn off the water supply, and remove the washer’s rear or lower access panel.
  • Check the hoses and drain pump for obstructions or damage.
  • Test the pump for continuity with a multimeter.

If the hoses or pump are damaged, or the pump fails the continuity test, the component will need to be replaced.

Error Codes: OE, 0E, OC, 0C, 1 OC, 1 0C

Problem: Overfill error (too much water in the washer)

The above error codes are usually caused by a faulty water inlet valve. If the inlet valve is not responsible, the water level sensor may be defective.

Follow the cleaning and testing instructions above (error codes nF, 4C, 4E, and 1 4C) to fix the problem. If the water inlet valve is working correctly, replace the water level sensor.

Error Codes: dS, d5, FL, LO, L0, dE, dE1, dE2, dC, dC1, dL, 1 dC, 1dC4, 1dC1

Problem: There is a problem with the washer door

As a safety feature, the washer will not operate if the door is not closed and locked. The door switch on the washer signals the control board that the door is properly closed.

If you have any of the above error codes, the door switch has likely failed and needs to be replaced. Before replacing the door switch, make sure the door lock assembly is not damaged and that the strike can engage the latch.

What to do

  • Check the door lock assembly for signs of damage.
  • Remove the door switch and test it with a multimeter to determine if it has failed. If the door switch does not have continuity, it will need to be replaced. You may need to refer to the washer’s wiring diagram or tech sheet to determine the terminals that need to be tested.

Error Codes: dc, Ub, U6, Ur, UE, 1 Ub, 1U6

Problem: Unbalanced load error

The above error codes either mean the washer has too much washing or the load has bunched up on one side and it needs to be rebalanced.

Error Codes: SDC, 5DC

Problem: The detergent drawer is not closed

Make sure the detergent drawer is closed to clear the error code. Cleaning detergent residue from around the drawer may also resolve the issue.

Error Codes: SUd, 5UD, Sd, 5d, SUdS, 5Ud5

Problem: Excessive soap suds

Excessive suds have been detected in the washer. The washer will try to add water to clear the suds. If the washer cannot clear the suds, you will need to remove the suds yourself. Remove detergent residue build-up in the tub or dispenser, or don’t use too much detergent to prevent the issue.

Error Codes: E2, bE2, 6E2, BE2, 8E2

Problem: Jammed button error

The error codes above either mean a key on the control panel is stuck or the control panel is defective. If you cannot stop the key from sticking or unplugging the washer for two minutes does not resolve the error code, the control panel likely needs to be replaced. A Samsung technician is required to diagnose the issue.

Error Codes: 9C1, 9C2, PF, 3E, 2E, 9E1, 9E2, UC, 19C1, 19C2

Problem: Voltage error

If unplugging the washer for two minutes does not resolve the error code, a technician or electrician is required to diagnose the issue.

Other Error Codes

Any remaining issues not covered in this guide will likely be control board or component issues that require a Samsung technician to diagnose and fix the issue.
