Top reviews from AustraliaThere was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later.Reviewed in Australia on 28 November 2022 Verified Purchase I live in Australia and it took about a month until I've got it and i was a bit concerned whether i would still be receiving it during that time but the messenging bot helped me a lot during this wait and it was very responsive to my questions. I'm enjoying the book a lot! Reviewed in Australia on 3 October 2019 Verified Purchase This was an enjoyable read, perfect for the spooky season. If you are interested in scary tales, and in the history of horror, I would recommend this. Review to come. Reviewed in Australia on 1 October 2019 Verified Purchase So firstly this book does contain the trilogy its just presented as a PDF scan of the 3 books in order so you'll see the contents of the first book and be like "wait this is just the first book". Keep reading though they're all there. They also have the original illustrations which is nice Top reviews from other countries5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic collection of short stories! Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 August 2019 Verified Purchase Excellent collection of short stories that really are devilishly good! I wish I read this as a child because I would have loved it, but as an adult I'm really enjoying them. From 1 page stories and poems to long tales and even scary games to play, these have a variety of really demented ideas that any child and adult would love- especially around Halloween time, but they're
good to read at any time, as long as it's in the dark! This collection features the entire original trilogy of books complete with original horrifying artwork by Stephem Gammel (it's probably better to buy this as buying the 3 books separately can be quite expensive- this collection has everything). 4.0 out of 5 stars Started off disappointing but finished on a high note Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 October 2019 Verified Purchase It’s coming up to Halloween and so I needed to get my scare on, so this was one of the books I decided to read. This is a collection of the three books, put into one to form this collection. The first book in this collection (Scary Stories To Tell in the Dark) started off as a disappointment and was different to what I was expecting it to be like. There were instructions for you to give when you TELL these stories to people, like where you should speak louder, scream, jump etc, which distracted me from what I actually wanted, which was to read the stories. It took me out of that atmosphere and ruined those stories for me. These types of stories did slowly fade and you had the illustrations to always drag you back in. Overall, I gave Book 1, 3 stars. Moving on to Book 2 (More Scary Stories), this is where I started to properly enjoy this collection and really race through the stories. There are several from this book that have just stuck with me and will do because of how normal they seemed and until boom. Plus because of how it could actually happen, which is the scariest thing for me. I rated this book 4 stars out of five. The final book is this collection, Book 3 (More Tales to Chill Your Bones) was my absolute favourite. I was just completely into this collection at this point, I’m in ashamed to say, with all the stories, the illustrations, and I was sharing some of my favourites with people. Be warned, some people might not like you sharing some of these at night, especially those who don’t like horror to begin with! I did, I found it funny. There were even some longer stories that in this third book that you invested more time in and had more build up and more story to, which was strange as I believe this was the shortest out of the three. I took this book to work with me just so that I could finish the last few stories during my break. I rated this the highest at 4.5 stars. I did sadly have to keep reminding myself that these stories weren’t true, even though I’m sure I read that it said that some of them were. Brilliant stories (some of them) with the illustrations to match. Started out disappointing but finished on a high note. There’s even more included after the stories, a section on the Forklore, myths and etc for you to dive into and explore. 5.0 out of 5 stars As an adult it is still gets me Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 10 November 2019 Verified Purchase Bought this while it was still at a very low price for what it is, and its great. I went for the hardback with the dust jacket to avoid the possible risk of not getting the original illustrations in it, I reccomend it. Good for stories you either want to read in your own head in your own time or stories you could get out on Halloween and read outloud to your friends or kids for some little scares. 2.0 out of 5 stars Slim volume in every sense Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 August 2019 Verified Purchase Slight rather than short stories that eventually seem similar in style . Good if you're a teenager but I'd prefer more than slim throwaway tales. Stick to Edgar Allan Poe. 5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting read, illustrations even moreso Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 January 2021 Verified Purchase Bought for myself and thoroughly enjoyed reading them. Only problem I had was that the sleeve around the books was far too tight when all three books were in it. I had difficulty getting a book out of it without damaging the sleeve or the book itself, I ended up throwing the sleeve in the end. The books themselves are brilliant, and the accompanying illustrations are wonderfully done. Why is the book Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark banned?Scary Stories was primarily deemed inappropriate for its depiction of violence and negativity. In a 1993 interview with the Chicago Tribune, former elementary schoolteacher Sandy Vanderburg offered her comments about the material: “If these books were movies, they'd be R-rated because of the graphic violence.
Will there be a new Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark? The only other tidbit of information that we can find is in a July 2022 profile of Zoe Colletti by the British magazine Wonderland, where the publication (not Colletti) said "Scary Stories 2" would start filming in late 2022.
How many Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark?Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is a series of three collections of short horror stories for children, written by Alvin Schwartz and originally illustrated by Stephen Gammell.
Was Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark 2 Cancelled? But one thing is sure Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark 2 is renewed and confirmed.
